Incredible production and even better acting.

    by Sully on 8/16/23

Every element of the production was amazing. Beginning with the parking pass. Flashed my phone with the QR code and was parked in a space 2 minutes later. The doors to the they're opened exactly 45 minutes before curtain. Exactly when they said they would. Enjoyed the hospitality Suite service, where the service, the food and the drink were all excellent. (Could have used a 10 minute warning to head to our seats, but since I know how to tell time, that was on me. ) Down to our seats and the production started right on time. The production, sound, staging, costumes, acting, diction, open captioning were all spot in perfect. Especially the sound. I didn't miss a word. I have been to this theater a half dozen times before this and I now know exactly where I am sitting in the future. The only draw back (and I mean only) were a few of the customers. 1. If I showed up 10 minutes late, I wouldn't expect to be seated until intermission. Rude behavior. 2. Intermission comes and there must have been crinkly popcorn bags sold. These people were ridiculous. There should be no food allowed in the theater seating area. Rude, rude behavior. The theater can't control their patrons every behavior, so it's not on them, but people need to be more polite. Excellent production, I'd see it again

    Wonderful Interpretation

    by Rloch on 8/16/23

This was an outstanding interpretation of the classic novel. Richard Thomas is superb as is the staging. Scripting honors the prescience and modern relevance of the original story.

To Kill A Mockingbird is beautifully done.

    by DPR on 8/16/23

Presenting the story of To Kill A Mockingbird through the eyes of Scout, Jem, and Dill was brilliantly done. They were funny, insightful and showed their innocence. Richard Thomas was great as was the entire cast. I would go see it again if it hadn't just left Chicago.

Phenomenal performance of a phenomenal classic! Had me in tears…even from the cheapest seat in the house I felt blessed to have witnessed this masterpiece!

This was based on the book, right?

    by Theatergoer on 8/16/23

The service at the theater was high caliber from most of the employees. The employees and actors handled an incident in the audience well when an audience member vomited during the show. They paused and brought up the lights for the audience member to receive medical attention and for the area to be cleaned. The actors resumed without any seeming affect. My low rating has to do with the script. To Kill a Mockingbird shouldn't come with a laugh track, but it seemed like every other line was intended for laughter. This version also seemed to stray greatly from the book as far as characterizations and relationships between the characters. They became more one-dimensional and seemed to lose some of the characteristics that made me love them in the book. This critique is regarding every character except Tom Robinson and Mayella Ewell. Overall, it felt like Aaron Sorkin had developed a low opinion of his audiences over the years. I wish he had expected better of us and himself.

To Kill A Mockingbird rocked it!

    by Leigh on 8/15/23

I love this play and the cast! This was my second round and plan to see it again in South Dakota! It is a little different from the book and movie but just take it as is and you will enjoy it! Richard Thomas is awesome as is the rest of the cast and love that Mary Badham (the original Scout from the movie) is in it as well!

    An emotional connection

    by PER on 8/15/23

This play was so thoughtfully written and performed! There was no noise from the audience- no candy wrappers, conversations, people moving about; everyone was riveted to every word. I felt touched to my very core!

    To Kill a Mockingbird

    by cb2 on 8/15/23

The show was as good as I expected it to be. Richard Thomas was a great Atticus Finch. Aaron Sorkin managed to make this production laugh-out-loud funny, at times when you least expected it. But with 3 very talented young actors playing kids, it had to have humor somewhere. Of course, now I have to go back and read the book again; not only was it a great show but to imagine the storm Harper Lee created when her book was published all those "un-woke"years ago.

    Worth every dollar

    by Steve on 8/15/23

Terrific scripting. All of the cast really showed well honed professional skills which must be seen to be fully appreciated. Thoroughly enjoyed the performance and can highly recommend seeing it. Richard Thomas was outstanding as were the other principal characters.

    Excellent Performance

    by TheaterLover on 8/15/23

Excellent performance but some of the actors need to enunciate and project louder. Richard Thomas is as often the only clear speech. Scout was often difficult to understand.

A timeless play and a sensational rendition!

    by JanC on 8/15/23

To Kill a Mockingbird has been the one book that continues to resonate with me. Having read the book and seen the movie multiple times I was determined to see the play and their interpretation. Richard Thomas as Atticus Finch is the perfect choice. The rest of the cast was well suited to their roles. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.

    Excellent Production, bad Theater Experience

    by Pat on 8/15/23

I would have given this a 2-star rating but I don't want to take that much away from the performance and production of the play which was 5-star. My complaint is with the theater itself. The seats are laid out so poorly that despite purchasing an aisle seat in a pricey section, I could not see over the head of the man in front of me (who was moderate sized). He kept shifting position to see around the person in front of him. My view of the action on stage was blocked at least 40% of the time. Also, the ushers kept letting people in after the play had started. No one helped these people find their seats and they created quite a distraction after the performance had begun.
