Georgia troubadour Tinsley Ellis has been immersed in music his whole life. Born in Atlanta 1957 and raised in southern Florida, he acquired his first guitar at age seven, inspired by seeing The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. Like many kids his age, Ellis discovered the blues through the back door of British Invasion bands like The Yardbirds, Cream and The Rolling Stones as well as Southern rockers like the Allman Brothers Band. 20 albums (and millions of miles traveled) later on record labels such as Alligator and Capricorn, Ellis has become an elder statesman of the blues world.
With his new project Tinsley Ellis - Acoustic Songs And Stories, Ellis performs many of his most popular songs (plus delta blues and classics by artists like Gregg Allman, Bob Dylan and Leo Kottke) on his 1937 National Steel and 1969 Martin D-35. Ellis weaves the music together with interesting and sometimes ribald stories from over 40 years of a life spent on stages and in motels and truck stops. Ellis shows no signs of slowing down and is headed your way with his newest and perhaps most unique project.

Fantastic show I really liked the acoustic aspect marshaball was on top of The piano
I came to see Marcia Ball, and both she and Tinsley Ellis did not disappoint! Really enjoyed them together and separately
Loved hearing both Ellis and Ball perform first separately and then together. Their long history with Southern blues and roots music was a true pleasure to experience, particularly as a Southerner myself. Their instrumental musicianship was impressive and their singing a joy. My only quibble with the show was that when playing together Ball's piano and voice somewhat overwhelmed Ellis's quieter voice and guitar. Seems like the techies in back could have adjusted for that. Otherwise, great show!
Love the venue. Pleasant surprise seeing Marcia Ball for the first time, Tinsley Ellis was a treat playing acoustic @ the start. Venue is so intimate, really feel like we get our monies worth. Up class with style is a good thing every now and then. Highly recommend.
Tinsley was great! Wonderful sound, excellent voice, and some great guitar playing. Marcia Ball was good, but not in the best voice. Wonderful piano playing though!
Tinsley is always a great show. He is so personable and we love his little stories. We've see him about 8 times now in two different states. Amazing guitarist. P
Tinsley Ellis put on a great show, 2 sets of stories & killer acoustic blues. The guy always delivers! perfect intimate venue for a show.
The show was good as always. The location was very good. As the ad said there really are no bad seats in the house. I was very glad I decided to go to the show.
Tinsley is always a gem. This was even more special as it was just him and his acoustical guitars. Love the stories. Will always see TE no matter where he plays
Tinsley is an excellent blues guitarist, I wish he would’ve had his band with him. The show was a little sleepy.
We expected Tinsley Ellis to be great, but he went way beyond that. He was on fire. Jimmy's is a swank club with great food and amazing service. Highly recommended.
Artist and venue both top notch! Venue holds 500 but only about 150 max in attendance. I can only assume this is due to vacations, etc because the show was amazing. Always been a fan of Tinsley Ellis but this was our first time seeing him live. Will not miss another opportunity to see him perform. Besides being the consummate blues man he was so personable and engaging with the audience. I know small crowds are not good for the bottom line but it made for an amazing experience for the audience. Another plus for the venue is the restaurant upstairs. Food and service both very good.
Tinsley’s guitar is magical! He is a master. The show is rock in’ and easy-going. He is down-to-earth and very personable with all his fans. I will see him again!
Tinsley Ellis was one of the best peformances ive seen in a while. The Venue, Elevation 27 had superb sound and lighting.
It's been a while since I've seen TE perform which was probably at The Zoo in Lincoln Nebraska. It was a great show in Tucson and definitely worth the price of a ticket and a beer. He performed a nice selection of his new and older stuff. It was all so nice to see some younger faces in the crowd so maybe the blues won't be lost to coming generations. Jo
Great performance. Intimate setting with decent acoustics.
Beautiful refined guitar playing with unique takes on the blues! Inspiring
He was awesome. We loved his music. It was our first time listening to his music. Cant wait to see him again.
Tinsley and his band (bass and drums) were terrific on March 5, 2020 at The Rose in Pasadena. Tinsley's guitar skills are top-notch, and he plays with taste. His bandmates were solid, too. Tinsley was gracious and likable, especially considering the very meager attendance of about 30 persons in a venue that holds hundreds.
High quality bluesman put out by the small crowd - played a great set of original material and standards interspersed with stories of how he got into the blues and met and played with some of the greats
