Tinariwen Tickets

The standing room aspect was a bit annoying, but the band was incredible ! Wonderful show from the guitar gods of the Sahara desert :)

Wish they played in someplace with seats!! Hard to see with everyone standing! Wonderful music!!

I like a diverse amount of music. Two days prior I had seen Test Department at Brooklyn Bazaar. THAT concert blew me away! Then two days later I see this with my family. No doubt, this was a high mark of ANY concert I’ve EVER seen. Desert hypnotic blues played at expert level delivering a feel-good spiritual experience. Everywhere I looked, people were dancing, in tune, and having a good time. The band was elated... If you read reviews of their concerts, I’m not alone in this experience. THAT is why they sell out.

My first show at Webster Hall and no complaints and the band went beyond my very high expectations. My only thought is perhaps make Webster Hall like Kings Theater (where we saw The Raconteurs) a no cell phone show. It's just such a drag when the band takes the stage and everyone's devices shoot up and you can barely see the performance. It wasn't the case at Kings Theater during The Raconteurs and it really made for a much BETTER experience. You know like the olden times 1990's when filming bands were against the law!? Please consider this for Webster Hall.

As a woman who has been fascinated by the Taureg people(s) for quite some time I was excited to learn Tinariwen would be performing in New York City, where I reside. Note that I am very particular (and eclectic) about my likes and dislikes in music as I have sung since an adolescent. I have been lucky enough to see the Beatles twice, the Rolling Stones over ten times, Janis Joplin more times than I could count, Jimi Hendrix twice, and a myriad of punk bands, including Patti Smith. Mixed in with this is my fondness for Opera and Classical music. My interest in music was a primary reason for my move to New Orleans in 1993, which I was forced to leave as an evacuee due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. That said, seeing and hearing Tinariwen felt like an historical event, comparable to some of the afore-mentioned bands. It was exhilarating! I'd heard of them about ten years ago, then due to the complexities of survival in NYC, other priorities demanded my attention. Then John Shaffer(sic) of NPR commented that they were going on tour... he mentioned the problems they's had in the Southern U.S.A. with protests against them. I was dismayed for their sake, but ecstatic that they were coming to New York for ONE show. I promptly purchased a ticket that day. Webster Hall seems to have gone through some much needed renovation. The lounge area near the bar was quite pleasant. Despite the overall wonderful experience, there are a couple of issues I'm going to address in this review: the billing and announcement of Webster Hall was "doors open at 6, music starts at 6:30". There was no mention of the band that opened well after 6:30, Lonnie Holley. I thought they were DREADFUL. Couldn't help wonder how they wrangled the gig, except my cynicism made me think that how awful they were would make Tinariwen look better by comparison... I'm certain that is not true, but still... Best to close this on a positive note: Tinariwen was fantastic, wonderful, incredible. I truly hope I will see them perform again, the sooner the better. I love seeing them play everyone they come to Philadelphia. They are my favorite band- great instrumental, non stop dancing, and fun to watch.

I had no idea I would become a huge Tinariwen fan! I can't compare their show to anything I've ever seen before, but it was hugely entertaining, mesmerizing and truly inspiring. Go see them if you have the chance. Warner Theatre was the perfect venue for this show, btw.

This show was so well done. The lighting, performance and music was beautiful. Can’t wait to see them again. Definitely will get front row nexttime.

This show was amazing, full stop. One of the lead guitarists got sick only a few songs in (he has since fully recovered). It would have been 100% understandable if the band had decided to apologetically call it a night in order to care for their bandmate. Instead, paramedics were called and, after some reassurances, the band kept playing with undaunted enthusiasm and energy. True professionals and incredible talent.

Seeing Tinariwen is joyous!!! Their music is truly divine.

The Growlers opened the show and played for about an hour. Great vibes and great music. Tinariwen was extremely amazing.

Went for the Growlers, didnt know anything about Tinariwen. They turned out to be really good. Both bands were great. I'd go again.

The interplay of rhythm with multiple guitars and vocalists, creates from simple parts a complex layering that most groups can only achieve through technology. They are about the music and drawing people into the experience, not simply performing for them. This is my second time seeing them, the first was many years ago on The Pier. I will continuing seeing them at every opportunity.

I went for the Growlers and was curious about Tinariwen. Both bands put on such an awesome performance! I would love to see them both again soon. :D

Despite a sometimes awkward language barrier, Tinaiwen had no problem connecting with the audience thru their music! Absolute masterly performance of their unique brand of music, but they basically ROCKED THE HOUSE!

Band seemed to play the same song, in the same key, maybe 20 times, with insignificant variations. Hypnotic? Maybe. Boring? Definitely. Their records are much better and recommended. Was very disappointed that they hardly, if at all played the tinde drum on stage, which I was waiting for through two sets.
