About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • disappointed!!!!! wasted time and $

Six Tim Allen fans went to see his live stand up in Vegas and were very disappointed! The opening act was funny but was only on for a few minutes - after all was said and done we would have liked to see more of the opening act and less Tim. My husband said that he had heard all of Allens material before. Now perhaps it was because our seats were in the back row, not really a problem because the theater is not large, but it was quite warm and stuffy in those seats and 4 of us actually dozed off during Allen's performance!!!! We were in Vegas for several days, we went to 3 shows, visited the grand canyon, hit the strip to sight see, ate, drank, danced, and gambled ( a bit) our only negative was seeing this show.

  • Great show!

Tim Allen was great! His act was like he was having a converstaion with you rather than a rehearsed skit. The time flew by and we were laughing the whole time!

  • Tim Allen was awful

This was the worst comedy show that I've ever sat through. Would not go again and will not recommend to anyone. I felt I wasted my money.

The warm up guy was great! He had us laughing non stop. Tim came out after some fanfare and TV clips and was pretty low energy to start with. My older brother & sister-in-law loved him. I thought he was OK, with some very funny moments.

  • Very funny, but lacks a personal connection

by Roberts92835 on 3/12/12The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Tim Allen is, without a doubt, a funny guy. And his monologue in his show keeps you in stitches. Also, his warm up comedian is very good as well. The reason i rated this average was Tim seemed to be reciting a script rather than doing stand up. He did not make any effort to connect with or react to his audience. There was no spontaneous interaction that you see with many stand ups. No deviation from the "script." Thus, it was somewhat wooden. The show is well worth going to and you will be entertained, but that is all. Tim also didn't give you a feeling like he wanted to be there. When he finished his monologue, he just walked off stage, not even expressing his appreciation for his audience. You left wondering what happened. I do not regret going, and it is well worth it, but don't go in expecting stand up. A funny guy reciting a script, sure, but not stand up. The language for both tim and his opening act was typically raunchy, so not appropriate for children.

  • Great Opening comedian

by classclown on 2/5/12The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

As with many big headliners I have seen, Tim Allen Had an outstanding opening act. I mention this because I enjoyed him more than Tim Allen. Tim was okay.. the act moved along slowly. Some good stories and jokes, nothing great. The price was high, but he is a well known actor. His material is general growing up stories from my time period so I could relate. Clean material, nothing crass or offensive, language was more than acceptable. I like a comedian who does not need to use curse words continuously to make material. I enjoyed his show. I also like Lewis Black, good comedian without horrible language and sex to be funny. I would take my 83 year old mother to see him.

Opener was great, but Tim Allen is clearly coasting on his fame and I was not impressed at all...I honestly don't remember if I laughed more then a small handful of times during his hour show. My wife and I both agreed that the no-name opener was significantly funnier than Tim.

  • Tim Allen & his warm-up Lowell Sanders were great!

by Chuckles79 on 11/10/11The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I have to say, I thought that Tim Allen's warm-up, Lowell Sanders, the "pickle" as he referred to himself, was funny from start to finish. He was a great comedian! Also, I really liked Tim Allen's show. I've liked everything he's done so far on television, in movies and this time on stage. It was a great thing to do in Las Vegas!

  • Do not see this show

by jaytee12345 on 11/9/11The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

I was extremely disappointed in Tim Allen. His routine was incredibly poor. Not only was most of the material outright dull ... he then resorted to use the word retarded as his main catchphrase, citing that the "R" word was much more funny than using the phrase mentally challenged. We had taken my sister to the show as a gift for her birthday. My sister has two children with autism. The callous use of this word was incredibly hurtful. While you expect comedians to push the envelope, the use of this word to boost an already poor routine was just the final death knell to a show that I would never recommend anyone see. DO NOT SEE THIS SHOW OR SUPPORT TIM ALLEN IN HIS CREATIVE ENDEAVORS!

  • Keen Observations

by somhawk2002 on 11/8/11The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Mostly introspective and autobiographical content. Tim warned at the start of the show his act and his real life are not like his public persona. "I don't know how I got associated with kids (Toy Story, Santa Claus etc.) but I don't like them. Not just your kids, I don't like mine either!" The first 15-20 minutes of his act are filled with inappropriate jokes meant for their shock value and Tim delivers side-splitting results. He then moves more into a "What Tim likes / dislikes / thinks about anything and everything" diatribe. Reminded me very much of seeing Jay Leno 3 years ago. Their stand up peels away their "nice guy" reputation and gives an insight to their personal points of view, sprinkled with vulgarity and surprising points of view. From my vantage point, there was a large round clock leaning up at the front of the stage and a green digital clock glowing just offstage. Seemingly with no particular ending, but needing to fill a set amount of time as his show, Tim abruptly announced, "Well, that's the show, folks" and simply walked off the stage without acknowledging the audience nor returning for a bow or an encore. I left with the impression Tim was being paid to stand on stage for X amount of time, and then he had something or someplace else he needed to be. Funny for sure, but the abrupt end to the show seemed a little impersonal. This was the only show I went to during this years' annual week-long visit.

  • Tim Allen lost his funny bone

it was a great venue and a very entertaining show.

  • Tim Allen was really good!

by sparebowling on 8/8/11The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

The "ice breaker" comedian, (or as he called himself, "The Pickle") I believe his name was Lloyd Sanders, was very funny and a great warm-up for Tim. Tim "the tool man" shared his life experiences, which are many, his day to day life, and his bodily functions, all so humorous you have to see it. He talked about God, prison and angel anus. I mean come on THAT is funny! We loved it!

  • Tim Allen in Vegas

by TimWasFun on 8/7/11Venetian - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

We really were looking forward to celebrating our last night in Vegas with Tim Allen. The comedian who opened for him was great. There were fresh ideas and for :15 minutes he had us rolling. He was great. Tim came out and from almost the first word, he was fast paced and generally funny. After reading some of the other reviews he evidently doesn't change things up much. He talked about God, farting, his wife being pissed about things, about how the government is messing up, and how although cast as the father-of-the year and Santa; he really didn't like children ... wow ... he was funny and it's nice to say that we saw him in person, but he won't be on the top of the list for Vegas shows next time. Can't ride the same crest (tooltime, santa, etc) forever ...

  • Tim Allen still has it!

    by CB1221 on 6/28/11Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 4 out of 5

My family has always loved Tim Allen, and so for my father's birthday I got everyone tickets to go. The guy who opened was really funny and had my parents basically on the floor. Tim Allen was on for about an hour and fifteen minutes and he definitely had some good stuff--but I felt like it was stuff that other comedians always go over too. He rambled about God (believer) and farts for a good while and then headed into the women direction. In the end, I think the price and time was well spent. I just wish he had some new stuff.

Great opening act, and fabulous performance by Tim Allen. He is funny and poignant, without angry ranting. I've always admired him for the way he's kept the common touch, and was very excited to be able to see him in person.

we saw Tim Allen - we thought he was absolutely hilairous - the only thing we disapproved of was the fact that there were young kids there - I mean we are talking 8 & up - some of his wording and jokes were not suitable for people that young - maybe in the future when tickets are being sold - you should recommend no one under 18 should attend other then that - the show was well worth every penny we spent would we see him again - definetly !!!! now we are waiting for Jimmy Buffet !!!!!!! - please advise if and when these tickets are available for Mohegan
