Tim Allen on Tour
However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.
Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.
A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.
Who is Tim Allen?
A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.
Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.
His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.
Had a great time. He is so funny. I have seen every movie he has made. Will go see him again if he comes back!!
His routine was very good, except for the last part about God creating man and women. It was very similiar (but still funny) to part of Robin Williams routine I saw on his last tour thru New Orleans, before his heart problem.
It was a funny show...just wished he would have given a little more "Hollywood Insight"!!
Worth the extra money for the good location of the seats and the meet and greet.
Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter." ~Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland Tim is not getting any younger Hell none of us are but stand up/travelling is demanding and can take a toll on a person. The opening or intro to the show was very energetic and fresh. Tim although still funny seemed forced and dilatory. My husband asked; why would he want to travel and do stand up? I responded "I believe it is his first love." I know first hand that no matter the smile and the show must go on though so i must speak the truths. Tim take a break and get well soon! Thanks for the visit to Mississippi.
Tim was soooooooo funny. My husband and I both laughed till we were crying! We were a little concerned about the foul language reviews he had, but it wasn't anything like we were expecting, and that's something I can not tolerate when I go to a show. He was great! His stories were so funny and the comedian who warmed up the audience was also hilarious. Money well spent.
Color me surprised. I was so looking forward to this as I've been a Tim Allen fan for years, but the show was lacking. He's so much funnier on shows/movies. His routine was a little more vulgar than necessary for laughs. The material was dated and a bit dull. I expected more than what every comedian has been doing for the last 30 years. What was funny 20 years ago is par for the course now. He talked about farts for about 15mins. Maybe my 14 year old would find that funny, but I've been out of junior high for a long time. Routine was also on the short side. I expected more for the $$$. Next time I'll stay home and watch Comedy Central. Way funnier. His opening act, Lloyd? Lowel?, was a funny guy.
Tim Allen had us in stitches and wishing he would keep going. Overall all of us in attendance were pleased to be there. The show lasted for about 90 mins with an opening act taking the first 30 mins. Words of caution, Mr Allen does use fowl language which was not expected, but did not take away from the show. Would bot recommend and like to see him again.
This was one good show. Tim Allen was better than I thought he would be. His act was non-stop laughter. I would definitely see him again.
My husband and I never laughed so hard in our lives. Tim Allen is hysterical. I don't think I ever stopped laughing and my sides hurt from laughing so hard. His humor is relatively clean and that is a pleasure.
It was an average show although he tended to use more gutter language than necessary. It wasn't as funny as I expected, in fact at times, it seemed pretty lame.
It hurts me to report that I was disappointed with the Tim Allen show. There were definitely some funny moments in it but I felt that we did not get our money's worth. The first person to perform was much funnier and entertaining than Tim Allen. I really hate this because I just love Tim Allen! He appeared uneasy, extremely hot (maybe due to the lights) and his voice was so gravelly that it was sometimes grating to listen to.
Beautiful venue, and great entertainment. Tim Allen's comedy is more geared towards an older audience in my opinion, but still relevant and enjoyable for the younger fans. By younger, I mean 20s. I do not recommend bringing children to this show which you would think is obvious, however there were several in attendance this evening. Lowell Sanders, the opening act, was fantastic as well. This was my wife and I's first experience for a show of this type, and we are both very pleased.
Awsome time, wish it was longer, money well spent on a great night out!!!
Non-stop laughing, for adults only, don't bring your kids - not appropriate, had a great time, I hope Tim comes back!!!
I have been a Tim Allen fan for many years. He is a very talented standup comedian, but I would not suggest any children.
Tim Allen was great! We laughed nonstop, went out with friends afterwards and laughed more!
I was excited to see Tim Allen was coming to Fort Wayne and thought that this would be a fun evening with my wife. Instead we got an earful of swearing from the one time TV family man. It wasn't about entertainment, but about what he could say and get away with it. I am for first amendment rights, but that right also has encompassed in it that we as a people restrain ourselves from being offensive to others. Tim Allen didn't care about his audience, It was all about him in a big way. We especially didn't care for the taking of the Lord Jesus Christ's name in vane repeatedly to the point that we felt he was here to pick a bone with God instead for entertain a crowd of people. No, I wouldn't recommend this performance to anyone, especially our friends.
Tim Allen was fantastic. When you see him live in concert, you can then see a little of him in all of the characters he's played on TV and in the movies. Nothing can beat seeing him in person. If you can go - GO! You won't regret it.
I can't decide who was funnier. Lowell Sanders was hilarious! I bought his CD the night of the event. Tim Allen was funny as always! Loves it!!
