About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

I very much enjoyed seeing my childhood hero! I would absolutely see him again! His humor is very appropriate and didn't make me feel uncomfortable! I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to see Tim Allen again! He made me laugh so hard I though I was going to cry! The venue was very cramped and about 1000 degrees in there, the chairs are small and if you are short like me ..plan on only seeing everything on the screens (which is the same as seeing it on TV...I came to watch him live not watch it on screens!), and forget having to go to the bathroom either. It would have been nice if the design team for the venue would have put in tiered seating, its just a big room with laid out chairs in rows, I feel bad for those poor folks in the back. I happened to be sitting next to a rather large lady, no big deal accept that her leg was touching mine and since it was very hot in there started sweating against my leg.

Not as enjoyable as other comics we've seen. Has lots of material he didn't use.

I went to see Tim Allen live and I ended up watching him on a big screen for one hour. the venue is flat so unles you were siting in the first 5 rows you would spend the hole time looking at the back of the head of the guy sitng in front of you.

  • Disappointing

by MeemaJ on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 3 out of 5

Wow. One F-bomb after another. So much language and off-color humor. Was quite taken aback - didn't expect this from the man who brought us the Santa Clause movies, Home Improvement and Last Man Standing. Didn't expect pristine perfection, but certainly didn't expect high-level profanities over and over, strung together through many routines that seemed to be designed for shock value. I'm not normally a prude, but I felt like I needed a shower when I was done.

  • Tim Allen was very entertaining!

We really enjoyed watching Tim Allen. Quite a bit different than his earlier stand-up and his television shows, but very entertaining.

  • Well worth it !!!

  • Tim Allen comedy highs and lows

by NHAI on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 3 out of 5

The setup comic was hilarious - kept my husband and I interested and laughing most of the time. He also related some of his humor to Tacoma and the northwest. Unlike Tim who made reference to eating salmon - that was it. Tim started out kind of flat and finally ramped it up in the last third of his show. His humor for that set was angry based - not necessary our cup of tea for a good portion of the set. I supposed he'd been funnier to us if we'd been drinking. Unlikely we will return to the Queen for future events - we were almost late to the show just trying to find a parking spot even though we arrived 30 minutes ahead. PACKED IN LIKE SARDINES IN A CAN.

  • Just so-so

    by 40something2014 on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 2 out of 5

I know he's a comedian and this was an over 21 crowd, but I guess I was expecting a little more classy from him. Some of it was chuckle worthy but mostly he just came across as an angry old man swearing every other word and telling jokes about male parts and gays and farting. Not the Tim Allen, the actor you see on tv for sure. It was also a very short show for the money spent. The opening act was pretty funny, better than the main event I thought.

  • Tim Allen Comedy

This isn't your father's Home Improvement show!! Tim was great! His stand up is funny with a true to point relativity. There's a reason it's for 21 and over. Don't expect the Tim "the Tool man" Home Improvement guy... sure, there were a few grunts when talking about cars or the 62 Galaxy that his Grandma had, but if you're offended by off colored, course language, this isn't your show. Would I suggest this again? Of course! It's a laugh out loud experience and the venue was bigger than expected. It's great to see a big star get back to his stand up roots. Be prepared to laugh, drink and get your shoulder tugged on when your wife has to pee!

Super great experience! And the opening act (didn't quite get his name) was just as funny (if not more so!!!). Laughed SO HARD!!!

Amazing story teller! Tim had us laughing or smiling the whole show!

  • A very funny re-run

by OlympiaPharmD on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 2 out of 5

Tim Allen is, without a doubt, a very funny stand-up comic. I've watched all of his movies and was a long-time Home Improvement fan. I first saw him at Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA last year. He went on, in his hilarious fashion, his hatred for kids (his, yours, mine, everyone's!), how he shot Grannie with a BB gun, God and the Angels creating the fart out of a rusty trombone, and many other side splitting anecdotes from his younger days and movie experiences. Having said that, watching it for the second time, the luster was a little tarnished. Having gone just the year prior, and loving every minute of it, we were excited to see what new material he brought to the stage. We were a little disappointed when he recycled nearly the same routine, word for word, again this year. We went all out and bought front row seats in the VIP section so we could see him up close, but even that excitement seemed less than anticipated during the actual show, as it was the same feeling of watching your favorite movie for the second time in a row, just a few seats closer. His routine would have done itself more justice had he incorporated different (new!) material and had engaged with the audience a little more. All in all, Tim is still a great comic, and we might consider a little more before we spend money to watch him in person again, but as he continues to recycle his artfully crafted jokes and dialog, it is unfortunate that he may find smaller and smaller venues at which to entertain.

  • Wasted an Expensive Ticket

by NotlaughinginTacoma on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 2 out of 5

I've always been a fan of Tim Allen's TV comedy, but I was very disappointed in the amount of profanity he used throughout his set. It was offensive to me, and to others in my group. I actually enjoyed the opener way more. I smiled at times, but didn't find anything very funny due to his choice of language and material.

  • Didn't know Tim Allen was SO BLUE!

    by songdog2000 on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 3 out of 5

The venue and acoutics were good, and the warmup act was very entertaining, although very blue. We were very disappointed with Tim Allen because we thought he would be funny without such a filthy mouth. Those who are offended by foul language should avoid his shows. We know how funny he can be without use of the "F" bomb, every other word, and presumed that he would rise above the other comedians of this generation. Not so. I guess we should stay away from all comic shows, and just buy "Last man standing" videos.

  • Tim Allen, AWESOME

    by Budgie14 on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

Tim had his usual brand of conservative humor, and it rocked. I was a little suprised by how much language he used, but dispite this... his humor was all clean and hilarious. Most comics that curse alot, have very vulgar jokes. Tim's jokes were not this way at all, and they had the entire audience rolling! Had a great time. His opening act was incredible too!

  • by ACJa on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the show.. Both acts were good....the warm up comdiean was very entertaining and & I enjoyed Tim.

  • Repetitive Babble

by Jimmyjamesjam on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 2 out of 5

Unfortunately, this is not the Tim Allen you would expect. That's not to say I wanted his character from "Tool Time" or "Last Man Standing," but I did want something funny. I'm not a sensitive person, crass humor and cursing are fine if they add to the show. Unfortunately, in Tim's case, it simply drug the show down. Every other word was a swear word, hilarious for about two minutes, annoying for the rest of his short almost 50 minute routine. He almost seemed to forget where he was on numerous occasions and he constantly repeated that the women in his life were "just mean! Horrible women!" But never had a punch line for that. He almost seemed to be trying to teach us some life lesson, but couldn't quite communicate it as intended; leaving the audience wondering what he constant, incoherent, rambling meant. Finally, EQC is a terrible place for an event like this (or probably any event but I don't have experience with others). You are sitting on a flat floor with hundreds of people in front of you, even sitting near the front would leave you disappointed you couldn't see much. There are two "large" screens so you can see the performer, but even those are low enough your view is frequently obscured if anyone in front of you fidgets. Also, I'm not a smoker, and for smokers this may be fine, but the entire walk to the show is suffocatingly full of smoke and the theater suffers from wafting. All in all, I gave it two stars because it was Tim Allen, but would have gone 1.5 if allowed.

  • Tim Allen not what I expected

    by SheriB168 on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 3 out of 5

He came off a bit angry, and I was hoping for someone more like his characters on TV and film - more lighthearted. But he included some material about his childhood that was reminiscent of his Tim Taylor character, and I enjoyed that.

  • comedy routine was same material from last year

by Anonymous on 10/21/14Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 2 out of 5

We went to see Tim Allen last year in oct 2013, and loved it. We decided to go again this year since we enjoyed it so much last year. I was disappointed, that the majority of his material was the same as last year. It was not as funny when you have heard the joke already. Bottom Line. It is a very good show, if you have never seen him before. I will not go again, because it is not worth the money to hear the same old jokes. He needs new material when he comes to the same venue a year later.

  • Tim Allen is a scream
