Three Dog Night on Tour

Legendary band, Three Dog Night, now in its fifth decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala" and "One" serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night's continuing popularity.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Always working to expand its audience, Three Dog Night has embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New and existing fans buy Three Dog Night's music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, releases from this decade alone have sold well over a million copies.

Three Dog Night also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience its dynamic performances of the hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band's 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night's signature sound.

Three Dog Night maintains an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. The hit filled concerts are performed for generation-spanning audiences by Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar) with Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums),) David Morgan (vocals) and Howard Lavarea (keyboards). The band's now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a "Three Dog Night".

Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10's, 18 straight Top 20's, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best-selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records Three Dog Night Page 2 continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years.

Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group's eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.

Now, marking 50 years on the road Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theaters, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed over 2,500 shows including two Super Bowls.

    Three Dog Night

by Edhef on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

Great to see this retro band, but I was disappointed that they did not play "Lion Sleeps Tonight" and they started later than they should have. But I did like their funny attempt at rap music.

    Trip back in time

by 70sfan on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

I was thrilled with the way the gentlemen still sound after 40 years, and the trip down nostalgia lane was awesome. My only complaint is that after driving two hours to attend, the music played only an hour and 10-15 minutes.

Three Dog Night...still spreading Joy to the World

by Mack52 on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

The 3 original vocalists still had the greatest harmony and soul. They sang almost all of their hits (except "Eli's Coming" and "The Show Must Go On") with the same amount of passion and soul from the early 70s. They were warm and friendly, talking and joking with the crowd. Great show!

by lovesvacations on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

Three Dog Night has almost all of their original members, and still has what it takes to make its audience happy. The energy was always high and they are so personable, making this concert a good time for everyone. They do all the beloved songs you will know.

    Every song a hit!

by Fun49 on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

The concert was such a treat! Danny Hutton and Corey Well's vocals were very strong and the best was that they seemed to really be enjoying themselves. Strong stage presence and good guitar riffs rounded out the show nicely. Would definitely go again.

    Show was too short!

by Nightends on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

The show was fun and the audience was a great mix of young and old. They only played for about an hour. I was hoping to hear Eli's Comin'! Their new blues song was great! I had forgotten some of their great music.

    Three Dog Night was incredible!

by SallySueAnne on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

This group was a little before our time so we didn't get to enjoy them the first time around in the 70's but this is definitely in the top 10 of concerts I've ever seen. These guys sound amazing and put on one heck of a good show. They were funny, interacted with the audience and looked great. We had a wonderful time and have already recommended it to co-workers!!! Thanks for a wonderul, exciting evening.

The guitarist is a D player, he needs to be replaced or forced to listen to and learn the songs

    These dogs can still bark...

by BIGKIDD on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

After all these years, they can still sing and well. Great concert and worth seeing again. The only down part was they started late and ended early. Probably less than 1 1/2 hour concert and what happened to" Eli's Coming"? Otherwise it would have been 5 stars...

    Three Dog Night Still Rocks!

by tunelovers on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

We had the great pleasure of enjoying TDN at the OC Fair 8/9. We've always loved their music, but we were blown away by their live performance. They really rocked out! The audience was part of the performance, singing, yelling out our joy at GOOD MUSIC. We loved being transported back in time by memorable hits and also hearing new material. They have so much talent... "loved" the rap version of "Mama Told Me Not To Come." (It showed how talented and current they were, & highlighted how much is lacking in many popular 21st century performers.) Loved all the songs... missed hearing "Eli's Coming."

Three Dog Night...One Less Dog... :(

by Saranayd on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

I have always loved Three Dog Night ever since I was a child and I my older brother really was into them. Last night was the first time that I saw them as Three Dog Night. I saw Chuck Negron last Friday at Hippiefest at The Gibson. It would be so awesome if things hadn't turned out like they had, but they did. Let's just say that TDN was great and Cory and Danny did a great job of covering songs that would normally have been sung by Chuck, but it's never the same. Nevertheless, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and I was thrilled beyond words when they did my favorite song, "The Country". Great job guys!!!

    Three Dog Night Rocked!!!

by Eddow on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

I was highly anticipating the Three Dog Night Concert and have to say, I was treated to an enjoyable evening of rockin' and dancin' in the isles. The band sounded excellent and didn't skip a beat. A little greyer, but who of us isn't? Ehehehe... It was nice to hear them play a lot of their hits from the 70's, but I also enjoyed their new music and am looking forward to their new CD. I will definitely purchase it when it comes out. Thanks to the O.C. Fair for the good music and good times and I hope I will get to see Three Dog Night play again.
