  • Fun for all

by RVA T on 7/16/24Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Great Venue and easy to get in and out of. The day was hot, hot, hot and very little shade in the amphitheater so for a show starting at 5:45p be prepared. Great mix of 80's bands and fairly quick turn over between......Loved all the bands with Men without Hats , Tom Baily (Thompson Twins) and Thomas Dolby bringing the house down. Would have loved longer sets but show was over four plus hours so it would have been difficult to do... Again amazing outdoor amphitheater would go back again for another show.

  • Brought the end of the evening down

by Tas on 7/15/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 2 out of 5

Had an absolute blast at the Totally Tubular Festival, each act was better than the next and it was thrilling seeing, singing and dancing with bands that I grew up with in the 80's. When it came for the headliner on the evening (Thomas Dolby) it was a complete let down. As innovative as he is as an artist he should never have been placed at the end. You could audibly hear the audience talking amongst themselves and starting to get up to leave. Although he has one of the most popular songs from the 80's, his DJ/one man band style did not reach the heights of enthusiasm as the other main performances. If he is to stay on this tour, I would place him in the middle of the line-up and leave the better bands to end the evening.

  • Totally Tubular and Really Fun

by Teacher82 on 7/15/24The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - IrvingRating: 4 out of 5

While Dolby was the headliner, Bowwowwow and The Tubes and Men without Hats and Modern English really were the show - especially the last 3. The five hour show had a lot of breaks for equipment change and each group only did a few songs. Dolby only did three that I can recall. The show was kind of like a mountain - good at the beginning, peaked in the middle, and then good at the end. I'm psyched about Modern English's new album and am going back to listen to more of The Tubes and Men without Hats. I felt like these three bands were really the headliners more than Dolby. The venue - Toyota Music Factory - is FANTASTIC!! I'll watch for more shows there in the future.

  • The Toms

by AC on 7/14/24Fillmore New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

The Toms (Bailey and Dolby) put on a great show! Tom Bailey has such an incredible catalog! Was glad New Orleans got these 2 as headliners (they were part of the Totally Tubular Fest in other cities, which cut down on # of songs they could play). New Orleans got a full set from Tom Bailey! Dolby talked about his previous times in town. Just a good night w/ good friends.

  • Synth Wave Master

by Queen New Wave on 7/14/24Fillmore New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing TD. Listening to Thomas Dolby remix and add so much sound to all of his songs was amazing. He is a master at synth wave music. The sound was so clear. The only thing wrong was it was a short show. I could have listened and danced for hours! I will definitely try to see him again.

  • big fan, not bad show, expected better

by Van on 7/14/24Fillmore New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

I came for Dolby, huge longtime fan, but his set was a little flawed. Set list was on the short side, for one (he never even played Wind Power!). He opened with a Blue Monday cover, also weird. And he added subtle but still unfortunate political elements to the video for his best song ever, She Blinded Me With Science. Thought he was smarter than that. To my surprise, I ended up enjoying Bailey (ex Thompson Twins) more. A tight and solid show there from him. Overall, it's a decent show. Not fabulous, and it could have been fabulous, but still good enough.

  • Awesome!

by Lisa on 7/14/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Great Festival! All the bands sounded great. It was a very enjoyable experience. I am a big Tom Bailey fan and hearing him and his band perform was a dream come true!!

  • Was great

by Skyyryder on 7/13/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Was awesome, a bit pricy on concessions, seats were great atmosphere pumping

  • Great lineup!

by D.R. on 7/13/24The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - IrvingRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was the Totally Tubular Festival with seven bands: Thomas Dolby, Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Modern English, Men Without Hats, The Tubes, Bow Wow Wow, and The Plimsouls. All of the bands were good, but the Tubes weren't quite up to the same level as the others. They were an unannounced replacement act in my local marker. Because the concert was five hours long, a lot of the crowd had left before Thomas Dolby went on as the last act, which is unfortunate because he was excellent. Perhaps the Thompson Twins should have played last because the crowd was still energetic, and this group had the most hits of all the acts.

  • EXCELLENT

    by SDV1 on 7/13/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Every band was so good. The love we felt from the performers after what we dealt with during Hurricane Beryl was heartwarming. The Thompson Twins, The Tubes, Modern English, and Thomas Dolby were BEYOND EXCELLENT. I’m so happy I went and happy that the event wasn’t cancelled. The Post 713 venue was really GREAT! My first time there! I’m looking forward to Squeeze and Boy George!

  • The Mix Master

by OffHisMeds on 7/13/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Thomas Dolby was a bangin' finish to the Totally Tubular Fest in Houston this week. In addition to a nice cross section of known and lesser known songs, he did an amazing tribute mix to David Bowie, accompanied by video of a gigantic Bowie concert at Wembley Stadium in the late 90s. I've always enjoyed Dolby mixing not just music and tracks, but video too. Very creative, and very entertaining. Side note: He did a a great job cheering up us weary Hurricane Beryl survivors.

  • Nice venue

by Tina on 7/13/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a nice venue. No seat is really a bad seat. Doors didn't open on time. It said an hour before but it was less than 30 minutes. I definitely would go again to hear.

  • Thomas Dolby rocks!

by Ricky ticky taco on 7/13/24The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - IrvingRating: 5 out of 5

What a great concert. After listening to him for 40 years it was great to see him in concert. Hyperactive was my theme song according to my brothers growing up! Thank God for Ritalin!

  • Overall great show!!

by Big D on 7/13/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

Overall an awesome show! Plimsouls and Bow WowWow were good; The Tubes singer can’t hit notes and was off key, band sounded good but they need to figure something out because he didn’t help the set. Men without hats was absolutely fantastic! Modern English I would see as a solo act! Thompson twins stage show and music was great - I wasn’t a big fan back in the 80’s but I am now!!! And Thomas Dolby was great! Loved watching his show; and how he compiles his show. Special thanks to all of the artists who recognized the issues Houston is having right now and acknowledging the struggle. Had a great night!!!

  • Too many no show acts

    by Mark S on 7/12/24Rating: 2 out of 5

First I want to say that Men Without Hats and the Thompson Twin were great. I wish everyone could have been that good. Three acts who were scheduled when I bought my tickets didn’t show up - Tommy Tu Tone, the Romantics and even Thomas Dolby. Pretty bad considering this concert is listed in Ticketmaster as Thomas Dolby. Partial refund is in order IMO. Also, the Tubes are way past their prime. It was not a good performance at all. Would not recommend.

  • Astonishingly fabulous!

by Laurie on 7/12/24The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - IrvingRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Thomas Dolby play live. His poetic, artistic and visual performance just blew me away. His voice sounded excellent and he's definitely aged well. I would love to see him play solo, to hear more songs and take a deeper dive into his mesmerizing performance.

  • Fantastic Experience

by MidgieSue73 on 7/12/24The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - IrvingRating: 5 out of 5

I am an old punk/new wave fan and seeing him still crush it, was fabulous. He's in great shape and hotter than ever... and the Bowie tribute made me cry. I am a heart patient on restriction from dancing... but I just HAD TO!! perfect way to celebrate turning 51. Thanks to all the bands for letting me walk down memory lane.

  • Thomas Dolby and Tubular Festival

by Peterl on 7/10/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

Great show and lineup of '80s bands with headliners Thomas Dolby and Tom Bailey of Thompson Twins. Specifically with Thomas Dolby, great set starting with cover of "Blue Monday". There were some technical problems which wasn't only with Thomas Dolby's set but with some of the earlier opening acts too. Otherwise terrific show.

  • A few no-shows???

by Dan on 7/9/24Arizona Financial Theatre - PhoenixRating: 3 out of 5

I was mostly impressed with how good all the bands still sounded. Modern English was especially great! Keep in mind it's usually just the original singer for some of these bands, but they still sounded good. My biggest disappointment was Thomas Dolby, Tommy Tutone, and the Romantics were billed, but were not part of the show. We did get the lead singer from the Tubes, though. He did ok for being in his 70’s. I could not find anything that said only some of these artists- would appear so that was a big letdown. Also, they did not use the screens on the artists which was such a frustrating waste. They just used the screens for lame, repetitive, digital logos for the bands until Tom Bailey and Modern English. How hard would it be to have a camera set up??? It was fun, but should have been better.
