  • Totally AWESOME Eighties!!! Totally AWESOME Show!!!

by PhilW on 7/21/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

When I bought these tickets, there were eight bands in the line-up, and my #1 choice for seeing this show was the Romantics. When I got to the venue, I was looking at merch and saw that the Romantics were out but Wang Chung was in. I was bummed but decided to make the most of it. Well, to my satisfaction...the show was AMAZING. Highlights for me... Men Without Hats was clearly the surprise of the night (for me at least). Ivan's energy is untouchable. I was shocked to hear that the band led with Safety Dance, and they closed the show with a TERRIFIC choice. Annabella from Bow Wow Wow was INCREDIBLE. Her energy and connection with the audience was some of the best of the night. The "Thomases"were alll FANTASTIC. Dolby is a master, did his own stuff, covered two GREAT songs, and gave us a TERRIFIC encore that i still can't stop singing. Bailey and the Sisters nailed it, and Tommy Tutone was more than just one song. Wang Chung did not disappoint and did a great Clash cover in their own way. Eddie Munoz from Plimsouls was solid. Modern English was the soft spot of the night, but seeing Melt With You live made up for it. Overall...a TOTALLY AWESOME SHOW!!!

  • It was totally tubular

by Erick on 7/21/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a hell of a line up. Lots of bands I'd like to see but probably never would have seen solo. Everyone was amazing and Dolby capped it off with a bang. The Plimsouls were the perfect openers. BOWWOWWOW were a solid follow up. Wang Chung...well everybody had fun tonight. Changed the whole vibe of the show and brought tons of exciting energy. Men without Hats were just brilliant. Kept the energy going. Was just amazing. Modern English. It's not often that a bands new material holds up to the legend. Thompson Twins. Great presence. The set, the stage, the vocals and the girls were stellar. Dolby came in at the end with his presentation. He showed us how artists create art. If some form of this tours again, instant sale of multiple tickets. I never want to miss this.

  • First time seeing, Awesome!

Very impressive extremely talented musician! I'm thrilled to have seen him.

  • Thomas Dolby Closes Totally Tubular

by Steve on 7/20/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I had never before seen Thomas Dolby live. I was fortunate to be three rows of people out from the stage and on the side where he was set up. At first I thought it might be anticlimactic having him close the festival as a solo act following the Thompson Twins' Tom Bailey, which featured four musicians and used much more of the stage space. Instead he did a nice job with two covers, one of which was a nice tribute to the late David Bowie, and made clever use of the video screen with one number showing something similar to a DAW program with each track playing on a loop. He did a nice job keeping me engaged throughout his set.

  • Great night

by Tcd on 7/20/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

We really enjoyed the show, everyone was great and put on a fantastic performance. Hit of the night was Men Without Hats. They rocked it!! Only complaint was there was a lot of downtime between acts. So much so that we had to leave before Thomas Dolby came on as it got too late for us to stay. I understand that they have to set up for each act but then once that’s done, let’s go!! Get them on the stage!

  • Old time fun

We had a fantastic time at the Totally Tubular Show. Great to see so many bands and hear so many hits from the 80’s.

  • Great Show, Great Hits

by JayBJ on 7/20/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

While these acts are older, they still did a great job performing their greatest hits. The show limited bands to only 3-5 songs each to fit in all the performances, which kept the overall show moving along at a brisk pace.

  • Great night of 80’s music; they’ve still got it!

by KikiK on 7/20/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I was there to see Thomas Dolby, but had my head blown off by the extremely tight Men without Hats! They were incredible. Happy to see these bands thriving and making a living.

  • You get your monies worth!

The totally tubular festival exceeded my expectations. With respect but honesty many are one or two hit wonders so it’s understandable there might be some doubt about how they’ll perform 40 years later. With a stamina testing 5 hour plus festival , the show moves quickly and sounded great. Tom Bailey of The Thompson Twins had the most elaborate staging and the most hit filled set. The dynamic stage presence of Men Without Hats lead singer surprised many as they began and ended their set with the iconic Safety Dance. Acts who peppered cover songs into their sets kept the nostalgia wanting crowd satisfied. The order of the acts did not build in momentum and I might have put acts like Modern English earlier in the evening. With Annabella of Bow Wow Wow being the only female lead , a better balance of male and female for a future incarnation of this tour would be welcome. If this festival returns next summer , I’d be there!

  • Good concert

Men without hats was everyone’s favorite. Bow Wow Wow was good and the drummer was fantastic. Thompson Twins were good. Thomas Dolby himself was OK. All in all a good show

Thomas Dolby is just amazing!!! I only wish he toured more! The Bowie tribute was the best. As a Bowie addict, it made me cry. And thank you for doing “HOT SAUCE!!!”

  • Nice 80’s show

by Spoonman on 7/20/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show all bands sounded great. The only little criticism i can give is that some bands played longer they should have making the show longer than it needed to be.

  • Thomas Dolby was awesome!

  • Great show but wayyyyy too long

by Natasha on 7/19/24Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - BridgeportRating: 5 out of 5

All great bands-too bad there were so many at one concert. Only gave some of the bands 4 songs. Got there at 5:15-left after 11. Also-won’t be going back to that venue. Featured a Hendrick’s Negroni. But, none of bars had the ingredients to make one except for one bar and that was after I pressured them to find the ingredients. After many dirty looks and hesitation, one of the bartenders went downstairs and came up with cans of Negronis. Why feature certain drinks if none of the “bartenders” even know what a Negroni is. After this mess, I got charged $28 for this infamous Negroni.

  • Fantastic and nostalgic

What a fantastic show! So glad this came to the Bridgeport area!

  • TUBULAR EXCELLENT

by TinyMarkie on 7/19/24Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - BridgeportRating: 5 out of 5

The Night was lovely with the overhead fans keeping the heat down. The Concert started on time at 5:45pm +/- .AUDIO / VIDEO was excellent all night . EVERYONE was so energetic , dancing around the stage. Each Band was tight with sweet vocals. NOT everyone can play 45 minute sets due to time limits. BUT WOW !!!! what an excellent night from all the bands. Would love to see Another Group in 2025.

  • Dolby and Totally Tubular show was outstanding

The Totally Tubular show at the Hartford HealthCare Amp in Bridgeport on 7/16/24 was outstanding! Eight bands over 5-1/2 hours! Each band was excellent in their playing and singing, musically tight and sounded great!! Each band was having fun being on stage! My son and I had a blast! Can't wait for the next version (2025 ???)!!!!!

  • Thrilling to see this collection of artists

by CWB on 7/18/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

A once in a lifetime experience to see the artists I loved in my youth. All of the performers had polished, energetic performances. The standouts were Thomas Dolby and Tom Baily of the Thompson Twins. My only complaints are issues with the venue. I disliked having to wait in line to pick up a ticket that I ordered online. I don't understand why I couldn't have the ticket on my phone. I missed some of the first act despite getting to the venue an hour early. Once in the venue (The Anthem) - massive confusion finding my seat. There were no signs and very few ushers. This also contributed to me missing some of the first act.
