  • Headliner falls flat

by Icemanqc on 7/26/24Place Bell - LavalRating: 3 out of 5

Should have made m’en without hats the headliner because after they left the scene the show went south. Thompson twins was ok but kind of sucked our energy and they were no recovery from Thomas Dolby with his only one hit song. He tried but needs to be better lineup next year.

  • Great show - Not so great Pre-show Experience

by Marcia on 7/25/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! Purchased the Truly Deck passes as well. Will not do that again -- MGM Fenway disappointed in your offering here. No snacks (Gummy bears??), and access to this area was delayed beyond the advertised start time. Not worth the money.

  • Always a great performance

by FlatbushBoy on 7/24/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The lineup for the Totally Tubular Festival were all great performers reprising their signature songs. Thomas Dolby was the headliner and was, quite frankly, the best. As was overheard, he was the only one who didn't treat it as a nostalgia tour. The venue was incredible - the Rooftop at Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport offers great views and backdrops, good sound systems and, as brand new construction, good crowd circulation and nice, clean facilities.

  • Concert - Phenomenal! Meet & Greet - Fizzle

by Randy on 7/23/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

The artists were amazing, all sounded terrific! Energy level was varying throughout the night but that is expected by the hits they each bring. Highlights: Annabella's Bow Wow Wow got a vast majority of us on the floor level, up out of our seats... I mean you literally can't sit still listening to the Burundi style beat! Next best moment that won the night: Men Without Hats, Ivan delivering 'Safety Dance' like take no prisoners, People were left saying 'how are you gonna be able to top that the rest of the night?' But the VIP, pffffff... ha, what a joke, and the Tubular Tour knows it! I'll never get taken by their advertisement again. Let's be clear, take the f'n 'Greet' out of the pitch. All that happens: You walk around a screen to a smattering of five guys (who are all friendly, I will say that) but it's: stand in between them, a tour assistant will take a picture with your phone. Theeeeeen move it out! Shoo! So the five 'artists' who make themselves available vary on a rotating basis from city to city. Ummm ok, but you don't reveal that before purchase do you? Dirty upcharge so called 'One More Time VIP' experience. I didn't find a single person pleased with the opportunity, we milled around and complained with one another. You know the phrase, fool me once...... The concert 5/5, VIP 1/5 but I'm leaving '4' as my overall score just because the music was soooo good.

  • Concert was too long. Did not stay for dolby

by JGG on 7/22/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

Bought the tickets because you advertise the Romantics we’re playing. They did not. And I was pissed.

  • Totally Tubular!

by Ramy on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Totally Tubular was an awesome show! The musicians were fantastic and I enjoyed the videos on the giant screen behind them. the DJ who played in between acts was great as well :)

  • Fantastic

by Mike on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Couple bands didn't appear but the no notice additions were incredible. Wang Chung!! The sound and voices for all of the bands/performers were spot on and energy was great. Took my 14 year old granddaughter who loves the 80s and she was so happy so to score three shirts that night. Would go again. My personal Fave was Modern English singing Melt with You. Thanks Mr. Dolby for a great night you were so great!

  • Grrrrreat

by Stockman gary on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

He was fantastic, looked like a mad scientist and rocked, was cool how he was a one man show he blinded me with science 😀

  • 3/4 show for full price

by Birch on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Show was advertised to include 7 acts with a full set list however that is not what was performed. The Plimsouls never had a set and the some of the other acts reported abbreviated sets due to time limits set by the Hard Rock Casino. I realize that shows are subject to change due to weather, health and unforeseen circumstances however this seems like it was known from the outset. I enjoyed the show and was amazed at the performances from Men without Hats and Wang Chung but I actually purchased the tickets to see the bands from the movie Valley Girl. Modern English rocked out but I left feeling slighted by not hearing A Million Miles away from the Plimsouls

  • 80s night

by The Matt on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

This event lived up to its name. It was awesome. Thomas Dolby ending was awesome. Also the woman next to me was dressed in 80s attire. I think it had not been washed since the 80s though. Overall though a great night!

  • Good Not Great

by HT on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 3 out of 5

A bunch of bands coming on stage one after another to perform a few hits is a great idea in theory, but the reality was a LOT of time between acts spent listening to a DJ and watching the stage crew reset for the next act. This show should have had acts alternating between two stages to maintain momentum.

  • Great 80s Show

by Johnnydodger on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Totally Tubular Festival in Atlantic City was just that. My wife and I had a blast. The highlights for me were Men Without Hats, Wang Chung, Modern English and Bow Wow Wow. Anabella put on a great show and her voice was perfect. MWH brought the crowd to their feet with Safety Dance. Thom Bailey was my wife’s favorite. The sound was spot on! We danced and rocked for 3 1/2 hours. A great show!

  • Buyer Beware for AC Casino Concerts

by MPL4PSU on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 3 out of 5

The performances by the artists were fantastic. This is our second and LAST time to see a concert in a casino in Atlantic City. Both times, the venue obviously had artists cut their playlists short so they can get people back in the casinos asap. Artists on stage mentioned their "short"setlists. Reviewing the setlists for each artist at Hard Rock compared to other nights of the tour at other locations and the setlists were cut somewhere between 25 and 50 percent. Highly disappointing when you pay same price as other stops on the tour and then also pay the casino for their overpriced parking, food and drinks.

  • Felt a Little Cheated

by Mike on 7/22/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic CityRating: 3 out of 5

This is not my review of Thomas Dolby but of the entire Totally Tubular Festival. The main reason why I bought tickets to this event was to see The Romantics. I never saw them live before, and "What I Like About You"and "Talking in Your Sleep"are two of the greatest '80s songs ever written and recorded. (I even feel the latter is underrated.) Shortly before the show though, I discovered the band dropped out due to a medical condition. That's certainly understandable but no less disappointing. Even more disappointing, I was told they would be replaced by the band The Tubes, but there was no replacement band for my show in Atlantic City. Also, according to my ticket and the venue's website, the show was supposed to start at 8, but when my friends got there at 8:05, the second band was already playing their second song. I didn't know this at the time; I discovered it when they brought out all the bands to say "Goodnight"at the end of the show, so I missed The Plimsouls. If it wasn't for those three big disappointments (no Romantics, no replacement band, and The Plimsouls starting way earlier than they should have), I would've given this concert a much higher score, probably a 5 out of 5. But with those big blows, it gets a 3.

  • MESMERIZING SHOW

by PIRATE TWIN 101 on 7/22/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Hands down the most thrilling performance ever at the open & airy PIER 17. Incredible video tribute with perfect acoustics and crisp sound. Thomas Dolby knocked it out of the park with The Brooklyn Bridge and Empire State Building as the backdrop added to the overall experience

  • Thomas Dolby is Amazing!

by screamer on 7/21/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Thomas Dolby was the "happy ending,"amazing finale of Totally Tubular. He played all by himself and opened with a version of Blue Monday. He played three hits and did an homage to David Bowie. Just fabulous. He alone was worth the price of admission!

  • A night of 'New Wave Bliss'!

by Crystal on 7/21/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Totally Tubular was an excellent show! So many great acts--took me right back to the beginning of MTV. The crowd was dancing all night and the bands loved playing on beautiful, rooftop Pier 17 in downtown Manhattan! Thanks for the good time & fun! 🎶💜🎶

  • Retro Hoot

by GalwayK on 7/21/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Pier 17 is a beautiful relaxed venue. My main goal was to get to see Wang Chung, who were great. Men Without Hats were a blast. Thompson Twins act a fantastic surprise. Modern English are dull and irritating. I dislikeThomas Dolby so left before he started. An excellent selection at the concession stand.

  • Warm spirited, great performance(s)

by Dan on 7/21/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Thomas played as the evening closer on a bill of other musicians well-known from their 80s material. The audience was clearly filled with affection, and the performer's responded with generous and playful performances. He worked solo with a keyboard and sampler, and his showmanship was fantastic, despite closing for full bands. Moving and joyful.

  • Retro

by Rick on 7/21/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was fantastic. He only played about 7 songs but he was great. Sounded like he did forty years ago. So glad I went.
