  • Totally tubular fest

by Rck1125 on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 3 out of 5

Never got to see Thomas Dolby. It was very confusing after Thompson Twins. The announcer thanked everyone for coming and made it feel like the concert was over. Majority of the people left and not until we were out did we hear he was coming on on a few minutes. Was handled very poorly.

  • A fantastic concert!

by Bob-O on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Thomas Dolby was the headliner for the Totally Tubular Festival with 8 bands at the Meadowbrook Amphitheater - Plimsouls, Tommy TuTone, Bow Wow Wow, Wang Chung, Men Without Hats, Modern English, Tom Bailey and Thomas Dolby. It was such a great show! The crew was on their A-game as setup between acts was quick. We had the opportunity to meet Thomas after the concert - what a nice guy that still puts out some great music. Meadowbrook is a perfect venue for a summer concert, too. I would definitely go to see Thomas Dolby again.

  • Acts ranged from fantastic to sublime!

by Spike on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

I purchased tickets for myself and 7 of my family and friends to celebrate my 60th Birthday - it was money VERY well spent! 8 Bands in a little over five and a half hours. A Great Show overall all the bands sound as they did decades ago with the same people singing! The early Acts (a guy from the Plimsouls and Tommy Tu Tone) were good. Annabella Lwin from Bow Wow Wow really started the show. Her voice was great and here stage energy was still infectious. Wang Chung was simply fantastic, especially considering they were just getting their legs under them on the tour (only joined a few days before). Men without Hats were outstanding, having the entire original band all these years later is heart warming. Modern English was great, although the current drummer was a disservice to Chandler's originally brilliant work. Tom Bailey was truly amazing and his incredible backing band made it seem like the "Twins"had become "Quadruplets"! Thomas Dolby was simply sublime! That man deserves to be knighted because he demonstrates his method of making music for every audience, every show. Thank your "Sir Thomas"for all the years of enjoyment and the encore "Hot Sauce".

  • Festival Fun from the 80's

by MJA on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

8 bands in 5 hours was an amazing night and the roadies earned their pay turning around each band.

  • Good evening, fun for all

by DiscoDuck on 7/29/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

We missed the first performer the Plimsolls, and arrived mid way through Tommy Tutone who was god although I didn't personally know many of his songs. Bow wow wow were energetic and really good, the surprise of the evening. Men without Hats were far better than I expected and had the tightest band and were extremely appreciated by the near to sell out crowd. Modern English were good but the led singer needs to talk less and one song less would have suited me. Thompson Twins were good and their mini light show fun, I found the lead singer Tom to be a bit of a lovie. I went for Thomas Dolby and he wasn't on stage long enough, so for future reference, cut one song per the other performers and give him more. Performed a very good Blue Monday, Europa, One of our Submarines, Blinded me with Science etc.

  • Just played what people came to hear.

by Jay on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 3 out of 5

It was ok. If they only played what people came to hear, it would be a lot better experience.

  • Good performance

by Jujubee59 on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 3 out of 5

We really only stayed for 1 of his hit songs from the 80s. She blind me with Science. The rest of his stuff was really not our forte’.

  • Great concert from 80's Bands

by Living in Oblivion on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed the Totally Tubular Music Festival at Meadowbrook Music Theatre. All great performances...although I cut out prior to Thomas Dolby performing. Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins was outstanding. Wang Chung and Bow Wow Wow sounded just like they did in the 80's! I think the highlight of the concert was Men Without Hats. They opened and closed their set with the Safety Dance! That's a band that knows what the audience wants. I'm sure they've played that song a mind-numbing number of times, but it's the first time that I've heard it live. It was great! I noticed that I was one of the few individuals there who actually knew how to do the safety dance...I remembered it from their Mtv video!

  • Great concert! Horrible womc djays.

by Lakegod on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 4 out of 5

Every band was good. The dj who played songs between the sets was TERRIBLE. This guy thought it would be a good idea to play old rock songs at a new wave concert. People HATED it. All the dj's from womc felt it was their duty to come on between EVERY band. They were incredibly full of themselves. They took a great festival and RUINED it.

  • 50%

by Hubee on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 3 out of 5

Bow Wow Wow, Modern English and Thomson Twins were excellent. Plimsouls and Tutones only 1 good song.My friend had seen Dolby before with a band and he was really disappointed he was by himself with just a keyboard..if we wanted that we could listen to his records. His New Order cover to start the show was disappointing.

  • Meh

by Flashman on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 2 out of 5

The bands came on and played some of their unknown latest or earliest hits and then ended with one or maybe two of their popular songs. Too many breaks for setting up. I’m neutral to dissatisfied.

  • Amazing show!!

This was an amazing show the talent, the set. Everything was just perfect!

  • Totally Tubular Festival was INCREDIBLE!!!

by DJDDay on 7/29/24Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Thomas Dolby on the Totally Tubular festival leg - just an incredible performance for die-hard Dolby fans. Stand out act was Thompson Twins (or rather "Tom Bailey of Thompson Twins"), which was absolutely amazing - I wish they had played longer. Men Without Hats came in a close second though, as they were incredible as well (and very cool that Ivan's niece was on keys and doing backing vocals)! Bow Wow Wow were incredible as well - and it was actually Annabella Lwin - AS IT SHOULD BE - and she sounded fantastic. Her band was super tight as well. Just an overall amazing show, though the moronic WOMC DJ's came on stage after Thompson Twins and told everyone to have a safe drive home and thanked us for coming, so 20% of the venue left - basically screwing over Thomas Dolby - who came on afterwards. Very unprofessional. Not sure if they were drunk or just oblivious to the concert they were hosting, but not a good look for WOMC.

Great lineup, great show. Was quite long in time but to be expected with 8 bands playing. New venue at the casino was pretty good as well. Men without Hats, Wang Chung and Thomas Dolby were sooooo good!

  • Dolby was great, sound was not

by zimmcull on 7/27/24The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

This performance was part of the Totally Tubular show. It was my first time at the Great Canadian Casino Theatre and I wasn't happy with the sound. They had it cranked up way too loud for the space and the number of people in it. As a result, the first few acts sounded really noisy. Dolby was on last and sounded the best, maybe because there were more people in the theatre and/or because his completely electronic music was less distorted by the loud volume.

  • Great concert

by SB on 7/27/24The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! Loved the performance and energy! Venue needs lights on the stairs & reflective numbers so patrons can see the row numbers in the dark (Great Canadian Casino Toronto). Otherwise, great venue.

  • Awesome

Wasn’t expecting so much energy and drive from performers who are in their 60s! The scene workers were amazing at changing the equipment - fast, efficient, quiet. And even the parking was very well organized! We had such a good time!!!
