About

THIEVERY CORPORATION IN CONCERT:

Lounge and electronica collective Thievery Corporation capture the sleek sounds of the international set with their chilled-out beats, worldly sonic palette, and lush synthscapes. Their mesmerizing and eclectic mix of bossa nova, acid jazz, trip hop, and a host of other genres had crate-diggers drooling with jealousy between sets at their 2013 shows, reminding fans just why they're one of downtempo's most beloved acts. With a highly anticipated new album due out in 2014, Thievery Corporation are set to blow minds once again on their upcoming North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Washington, DC's Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in 1995 as an outlet for their shared love of acid jazz, dub reggae, and Brazilian musical traditions. Using Hilton's Eighteenth Street Lounge as a base of operations, their early mixing sessions were a huge success, resulting in their 1997 debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. While the album was a minor success, it was their second record, The Mirror Conspiracy, that really put them on the map, led by the sweltering single "Lebanese Blond." Since then, they have continued to pioneer new directions in downtempo, headlining some of the world's biggest festivals and establishing themselves as legends of the genre.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"So talented and entertaining. Definitely worth seeing them live again soon."

"Absolutely rocked the place. Collaboration of old tunes with new and energetic stuff made it so special and enjoyable. The place was jamming! Loved it!"

"This is the third time I've seen Thievery Corporation and I must say they are one of the BEST live acts I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have not seen them live you are doing yourself a horrible disservice."

It was awesome, but bring your earplugs, the bass was so intense it rattled my bones. I could have done without their guest performers "Organic Chemistry" who were awful. Otherwise, great show!

  • Thievery-still one of the coolest bands. No doubt!

Groovy beats from Thievery have proven us one more time that rain or shine no matter what weather condition it is thievery w/ make sure u will have a blast and forget where u are. It is all about the music. Nothing else matters. All the hassle of the daily life fades away. The entire performance was amazing. They are so unique in layering a number of melodies in different vibes from various places & parts of the world, one feels like it is one unique great journey to take. This one was definitely not a misser, -happy that I made it w/ friends.

  • too short

Of course music was great but unfortunately the show lasted for about one hour. Left wanting some more.

  • Thievery was chill-Saadiq was absent

by EzFlo on 7/6/11The Williamsburg Waterfront - BrooklynRating: 2 out of 5

Thievery Corporation was enjoyable. It was hard to follow their set because they have such an eclectic line-up of lead singers and guests. But, overall they were chill. Saadiq was either invisible or never showed up, poor. And whether it was due to the regulations at the Waterfront or the acts, the show ended too soon in my opinion.

  • A perfect evening

by LucyEaker on 6/28/11The Williamsburg Waterfront - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

Despite listening to Thievery Corporation for years, I'd never seen them live - they were beyond my wildest expectations. They give an extraordinary performance! Raphael Saadiq was fantastic - I love love love him. Might not have been a perfect pairing of these two artists because they have different audiences - but they were both outstanding!

  • Thievery is awesome

    by 245032 on 6/27/11The Williamsburg Waterfront - BrooklynRating: 4 out of 5

The music was great! This is the second time I've seen TC and have to admit that this show was not as amazing as the first time I saw them. And- would have loved the show to last a little longer, seemed a little short. But, overall, a great night. And, I won't miss the next opportunity to see them again.

  • Amazing, danced non-stop but I wanted more though!

by Anonymous on 6/27/11The Williamsburg Waterfront - BrooklynRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was amazing and I danced non-stop the whole time. I was a little disappointed at the end though, it ended a bit early for me and was a quiet end compared to the great stuff that went before.

  • Thievery Rocked It!!

by JamLove on 6/27/11The Williamsburg Waterfront - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

Great show!! Went with a few friends and we had an awesome time. The sound quality was great and they performed a lot of their older stuff which was nice. Only thing I would change is having they come on a little later since we all work in Midtown and had to rush out the Brooklyn since doors opened at 5:30.
