About

THIEVERY CORPORATION IN CONCERT:

Lounge and electronica collective Thievery Corporation capture the sleek sounds of the international set with their chilled-out beats, worldly sonic palette, and lush synthscapes. Their mesmerizing and eclectic mix of bossa nova, acid jazz, trip hop, and a host of other genres had crate-diggers drooling with jealousy between sets at their 2013 shows, reminding fans just why they're one of downtempo's most beloved acts. With a highly anticipated new album due out in 2014, Thievery Corporation are set to blow minds once again on their upcoming North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Washington, DC's Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in 1995 as an outlet for their shared love of acid jazz, dub reggae, and Brazilian musical traditions. Using Hilton's Eighteenth Street Lounge as a base of operations, their early mixing sessions were a huge success, resulting in their 1997 debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. While the album was a minor success, it was their second record, The Mirror Conspiracy, that really put them on the map, led by the sweltering single "Lebanese Blond." Since then, they have continued to pioneer new directions in downtempo, headlining some of the world's biggest festivals and establishing themselves as legends of the genre.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"So talented and entertaining. Definitely worth seeing them live again soon."

"Absolutely rocked the place. Collaboration of old tunes with new and energetic stuff made it so special and enjoyable. The place was jamming! Loved it!"

"This is the third time I've seen Thievery Corporation and I must say they are one of the BEST live acts I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have not seen them live you are doing yourself a horrible disservice."

  • Thievery & Ghostland

    by curry457 on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

Got to say that I was really disappointed about Ghostland Observatory's sound. Thee vocals cut in and out and the bass was cracking. I have seen them three times in the past year including at Red Rocks last year with STS9 and that was the worst they have sounded the other night at Red Rocks. I wasn't far from the stage, row 27, and Thievery sounded great and put on a good show. Don't get me wrong, Ghostland still had a good performance and lazer show.

Thievery was great! Ghostland sucked. Pairing them with Thievery was highly disappointing.

  • ghostland and thievery make a great pair

by Anonymous on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I mainly went for ghostland, which was amazing as always, but I was also very impressed with thievery corporation. Thievery corp was a really eclectic group encompassing a lot of different genres and did a great job with them all, much more lively than I expected.

  • Thievery Corporation should play Live more often!

by Dunners on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Thievery Corporation continued to impress me live. They provided terrific variety in their songs, albums represented, as well as genres covered. I enjoyed watching the 9+ member band with rotating vocalists. Their energy and sound was terrific. I see more than 10 live concerts a year and can say that this show (and seeing them in general) is at the top of my list.

Incredible concert, maybe the best I've ever been to. Ghostland's laser show was crazy in the rain. Thievery has such a wonderful band and the different singers keep the crowd engaged the whole time. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

There was supposed to be an opener. It was still light out when Ghostland played. I went there for them and they only played till 9pm.

  • Thievery is sublime...leave Ghostman behind

    by selden61 on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Thievery Corp had a fantastic show at Red Rocks. Beside the poor sound management during some earlier vocals (was a shame too cause she's was incredible), we almost walked out during the warm up band. Just _way_ too screachy, like a bad Alice Cooper, for our lounge lizard tastes. Anyone over 30 tended to agree. Sure it was great for the kids, but leave them off the next tour, or we'll just come late. The rasta infused jams were phenominal and one of the best shows of the year!

  • best show of the year hands down!!

by Anonymous on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Always amazing! The fans of thievery are always nice and down to earth.

  • Loved it, Ghostland Killed!!!

by JenHaz on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome event, Ghostland took the night - Red Rocks is amazing!!

  • Thievery killed it!!!

by JillReden on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Thievery was amazing to see at red rocks. I never wanted it to end. To start off the night Ghostland pumped the crowd up, and their light show mixed with the light rain was sick. The rain stopped and the sky cleared up just in time for thievery to kill it all night long. One of my top shows at red rocks for sure!

  • BEST PERFORMANCE EVER !

by DJWhiteCheddar on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The played a lot of there quicker songs and it seemed most were from Radio Retaliaton. If you are a fan of TC go see them and you will be 10 X's more of a fan !

  • Utterly amazing

by Drewraines on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

This was probably one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. Great bands at the best venue on the planet. Waking up the next morning and yaking before work, not so amazing.

  • Fricken Amazing

by MBDLG on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Ghostland was awesome. I hadn't even heard of them before but what a great way to be introduced to their music. Lightshow was excellent, the rain actually added to it. I didnt see a single person sitting during their set. This was te second time I have seen Thievery, and their show was spectacular. The opening introduced everyone and then they went strait into classic Corporation and f'd well to mix in their newest album. I don't think they have 1 song I don't like. Amazing set from start to finish. My friend hadn't even heard of Thievery until I invited her to come, she is now a lifelong Corporation fan. Neither of us stopped dancing, singing and shouting the entire set. Encore's were fantastic. They really know their music and their fans because they played basically every song I would have put on a list for them to play. Awesome job Thievery, can't wait to see you play again.

  • Best Concert ever!

by Quietwings on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I've been waiting to see these guys for a long, long time. Absolutely fantastic performance, this group is so talented. Played lots and lots of non-stop music and all my favorites Worth every penny and then some. One of the best venues in N. America!

  • by irisity on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

Great performance. However, came on way later than expected. Tickets stated shows would begin at 6:30 when in fact that was the time when ticket holders were allowed in to Red Rocks. Ghostland Observatory was a painful experience and couldn't wait for them to end performance. Thievery Corporation did not hit stage until 9:30 and we were unable to see til end. Also the incessant smoking of tobacco ruined our enjoyment of the show along with attendees constantly walking in front of us. May never return to Red Rocks for this reason.

  • Vocals sound mix terrible

by Minator on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Great show, but couldn't hear the vocals. Vocals microphone for both shows were way low. Couldn't hear the words, drowned out by instruments. And we sat 8th row next to sound board! Terrible sound mixing. Made the singers seem weak, when they have great voices (Thievery singers anyway).

  • by cem1 on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 2 out of 5

Ghostland was great, should have been the headliner, Thievery Corp was a huge let down

  • Amazing show!!!

by Drsomething on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Live music at its finest!! Best show so far this year based on the overall vibe from the band and the crowd. Everyone was there to have a blast and we sure did!

  • by Anonymous on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Super cool band and super cool venue! I'd do it again tomorrow

  • Good Show

by WhipNYC on 7/13/11WIlliamsburg Waterfront (retarded venue if you enjoy beer) - BrooklynRating: 4 out of 5

I'm a fan but not a superfan. I was pleasantly surprised as I thought it would be a lot more chill. I'm over the WIlliamsburg Waterfront....the new set-up with the separate beer area off to the side is absolutely retarded.
