About

THIEVERY CORPORATION IN CONCERT:

Lounge and electronica collective Thievery Corporation capture the sleek sounds of the international set with their chilled-out beats, worldly sonic palette, and lush synthscapes. Their mesmerizing and eclectic mix of bossa nova, acid jazz, trip hop, and a host of other genres had crate-diggers drooling with jealousy between sets at their 2013 shows, reminding fans just why they're one of downtempo's most beloved acts. With a highly anticipated new album due out in 2014, Thievery Corporation are set to blow minds once again on their upcoming North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Washington, DC's Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in 1995 as an outlet for their shared love of acid jazz, dub reggae, and Brazilian musical traditions. Using Hilton's Eighteenth Street Lounge as a base of operations, their early mixing sessions were a huge success, resulting in their 1997 debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. While the album was a minor success, it was their second record, The Mirror Conspiracy, that really put them on the map, led by the sweltering single "Lebanese Blond." Since then, they have continued to pioneer new directions in downtempo, headlining some of the world's biggest festivals and establishing themselves as legends of the genre.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"So talented and entertaining. Definitely worth seeing them live again soon."

"Absolutely rocked the place. Collaboration of old tunes with new and energetic stuff made it so special and enjoyable. The place was jamming! Loved it!"

"This is the third time I've seen Thievery Corporation and I must say they are one of the BEST live acts I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have not seen them live you are doing yourself a horrible disservice."

  • Thievery Corporation - Great Show!

by PartyDogg on 8/17/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Much more than I had exspected. Wow! What an amazing line up. The musicians were plentyful and diverse. The sounds were layered, complex, varied, soothing and energizing. This is seriously good music! To be at Red Rocks an added bonus.

Both Ghostland Observatory and Thievery Corporation were amazing. They really put on a fantastic show. I can't wait to see them again!!! The venue also made everything that much better. There is nothing like an outdoor venue in the middle of a mountain!

  • Ghostland and Theivery Corp please come back!

by Peekachoo on 8/17/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Ghostland Observatory always delivers a killer performance! I've been following these guys from their begining in Austin. Theivery Corporation absolutely blew me away. Didn't realize they were such a huge crew, but every single person brought something different to the table to make their incredible, funky sound.

  • Mixed Experience

by Leandragroz on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't there for the Ghostland Observatory, but apparently many were - they had good energy. The TC are pros and delighted all the way - the set, the musicians, the singers. Of course, the famous guests didn't appear to do "their" songs, most notably I missed David Byrne on "his" song, but that is to be expected. Also, I could have done without the random large group of beauties appearing on the stage towards the end as - what?

  • Ghostland rocked the house

  • Thievery Corp was Awesome!!

    by chicabella1 on 8/16/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The whole line up was great. Ghostland's laser light show in the sprinkling rain looked like glitter all over the sky and Red Rocks. TC under a nearly full moon was spectacular. Danced my $#@% off the whole time.

Thievery Corporation was fantastic as always. Very nice vibe and many talented artists. Ghostland Observatory was painful and distorted. Just not my favorite genre. Lovely evening overall!

Thievery Corp played the best show yet Sunday at Red Rocks. My only complaint would be the terrible way the show ended with women being objectified on stage for the last song, what a let down after a night of positive vibrations.

Both Ghostland and Thievery were amazing and, as always, Red Rocks was a perfectly hospitable and magnificent venue!

This was a GREAT show! I was super impressed with Ghostland Observatory's laser light show; when it started raining, it looked like it was raining glitter because of the lasers! Sooo amazing!! Thievery Corporation was very impressive; what a classy and talented bunch of musicians. The crowd that night was fun too; lots of beautiful people!
