About

THIEVERY CORPORATION IN CONCERT:

Lounge and electronica collective Thievery Corporation capture the sleek sounds of the international set with their chilled-out beats, worldly sonic palette, and lush synthscapes. Their mesmerizing and eclectic mix of bossa nova, acid jazz, trip hop, and a host of other genres had crate-diggers drooling with jealousy between sets at their 2013 shows, reminding fans just why they're one of downtempo's most beloved acts. With a highly anticipated new album due out in 2014, Thievery Corporation are set to blow minds once again on their upcoming North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Washington, DC's Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in 1995 as an outlet for their shared love of acid jazz, dub reggae, and Brazilian musical traditions. Using Hilton's Eighteenth Street Lounge as a base of operations, their early mixing sessions were a huge success, resulting in their 1997 debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. While the album was a minor success, it was their second record, The Mirror Conspiracy, that really put them on the map, led by the sweltering single "Lebanese Blond." Since then, they have continued to pioneer new directions in downtempo, headlining some of the world's biggest festivals and establishing themselves as legends of the genre.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"So talented and entertaining. Definitely worth seeing them live again soon."

"Absolutely rocked the place. Collaboration of old tunes with new and energetic stuff made it so special and enjoyable. The place was jamming! Loved it!"

"This is the third time I've seen Thievery Corporation and I must say they are one of the BEST live acts I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have not seen them live you are doing yourself a horrible disservice."

    Thievery Corporation

by wiseguy44 on 10/27/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

Long time fan but first time seeing them live. Overall excellent show. Great sound and visuals. The musicians and vocalists were all talented. I (and others in the crowd) would have liked a few more of their classic instrumental songs mixed in to break up the vocalists but it was a great show.

moving midway to front after the first nicely done 4 songs, produced a solid and full sound that matched the new intensity of the group..plus the sweet smells in the air brought to level the mood needed to appreciate this event...

by phunkychik on 10/13/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

This show was AMAZING! I've seen Thievery Corporation once before at the same venue, and this one wasn't quite as spectacular, but just as wonderful! The visual and auditory show Thievery provides will blow your mind. No questions asked.

    Sitar players rock!

by nesser on 10/10/09House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

From the opening act to the end of the encore, this show was excellent. Ancient Astronauts was a wonderful opening 'band', spinning classics alongside newer breaks; all seamlessly. Thievery Corp came on and sustained their energetic performance the entire show, playing almost every song that made them renowned. All the female vocalists were there as well! For me, the sitar player sitting atop his perch with his incongruous instrument, helped make the show even more memorable. Props to the House of Blues for good sound, strong drinks and appropriate crowd size.

    Thievery Corpporation: Top Notch

by DHRAY on 10/9/09House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Thievery Corp's show at the House of Blues was the best show I've seen in a long while. The sound and visual presentation were top notch, and the song selection was incredible. The "guest" performers were awsome. I wish they'd come through Orlando more often.

Thievery Corporation - Most Epic Show Ever

by deviousRed on 10/9/09House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

I've seen The Roots and Mos Def live, and both shows were incredible. I did not think anyone could surpass the awesomeness that is a live show of The Roots. Thievery Corporation did that within the first 5 minutes. Their instruments, vocals, visuals... everything was perfect and amazing and awe-inspiring. I will recommend any friend or foe to see Thievery Corporation live.

    The Corporation of Thievery

by MASRVP on 10/7/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

From ACL to HOB, the Corporation packed them in. ''There are 10 times the amount of people here than the previous show!'' as a fellow Corporation fan(atic) put it. They played all their best songs, which was all of them, and the packed house was standing room only, including the balcony with seats, that no one sat in. The crowd was hypnotized by the artistry of the lights & video while mezmorized by the unmistakable Thievery sound, the hands were waving and the rumps were shaking. It will be a wonderful evening to remember, until its replaced with their next Thievery show. if you get anything from reading my review, it is simply this,... ''If you missed the show, you WON'T again; and if you saw the show, you WILL again!!'' See you there.

    Off the hook!!!

by SirAlex on 10/7/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

I flew in to Dallas from LA just to see Thievery Corporation! It was an amazing show. I go to as many concerts as I can every year. This was definetly one of my top 5 if not better. They're so diverse, I really can't explain. Just go to their show and I am sure that you will be writing something similer to my post. Enjoy! BTW, I am thinking of flying out to on of their other shows just to chill and partying with them again! ~Alex Newport Beach, Cali

Awesome set - crowd needs to learn etiquette

by AlHouston on 10/7/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

Thievery did a stand-up job - all the standards, great mix and vocals, and two encores. But .. half the audience seemed to be on a date and talked garbage through the music. Get a room!

    Thievery Corporation: Completely Thrilled!!!!

by englishtoni on 10/7/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

The concert was outstanding, exciting and we couldn't get enough! Rob & Eric are simply gifted as well as the featured artist. The band was amazing. I love those bongo's. Every title they played was better live. Exceeded my expectations. I wish i had taken the to find out where the after party was going to be. I would have been there. Best concert since Carlos Santana at Cynthia woods pavilion a few years ago. The stage set up was so impressive. The sound was outstanding. The bass was excellent. The light effects were great. DOWNSIDE: House of Blues: Houston, was very disappointing, from the valet service to the directions/information provided by the staff in all area's. The food selection was extremely disappointing. Very limited and mediocre. Is it too much to ask for one veggie or black bean burger? What i did order was extremely bland (no flavor at all) and made me ill after wards. I will never eat there again.

Thievery Corporation - Best show of the year!!

by TCBliss on 10/7/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

Credit goes to both artist and audience. Although I thought the vocals could have been a bit louder, the sound at House of Blues is better than any other venue in Houston. Thievery Corporation simply brought out one of their best performances I have seen to date, singers, MC's, musiciancs and ofcourse the DJs all rocked it! The audience felt the energy and returned it in spades. Epic, legendary, or just plain awesome. This is why I go see a show. Beautiful, intelligent, and cool music.

    Awesome

by byanova on 10/7/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

Thievery Corporation is an amazing band, and it definitely lived up to all my expectations. The performance was varied and well-balanced in terms of the genre and kinds of songs that were put on the stage. They got the audience excited from early on with some of their biggest hits (like Lebanese Blonde) and kept the excitement for a full 2 hours. The visual effects and the lighting that they used was excellent, and it complemented the experience. Overall, I would highly recommend to anyone who has the chance to go see them. They are well worth the money.
