About

THIEVERY CORPORATION IN CONCERT:

Lounge and electronica collective Thievery Corporation capture the sleek sounds of the international set with their chilled-out beats, worldly sonic palette, and lush synthscapes. Their mesmerizing and eclectic mix of bossa nova, acid jazz, trip hop, and a host of other genres had crate-diggers drooling with jealousy between sets at their 2013 shows, reminding fans just why they're one of downtempo's most beloved acts. With a highly anticipated new album due out in 2014, Thievery Corporation are set to blow minds once again on their upcoming North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Washington, DC's Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in 1995 as an outlet for their shared love of acid jazz, dub reggae, and Brazilian musical traditions. Using Hilton's Eighteenth Street Lounge as a base of operations, their early mixing sessions were a huge success, resulting in their 1997 debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. While the album was a minor success, it was their second record, The Mirror Conspiracy, that really put them on the map, led by the sweltering single "Lebanese Blond." Since then, they have continued to pioneer new directions in downtempo, headlining some of the world's biggest festivals and establishing themselves as legends of the genre.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"So talented and entertaining. Definitely worth seeing them live again soon."

"Absolutely rocked the place. Collaboration of old tunes with new and energetic stuff made it so special and enjoyable. The place was jamming! Loved it!"

"This is the third time I've seen Thievery Corporation and I must say they are one of the BEST live acts I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have not seen them live you are doing yourself a horrible disservice."

  • TC was amazing.

by SJune on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

I love Thievery Corporation and have been wanting to go to one of their concerts for the longest time. Jumped on this when I found out they were playing in AC and loved it. They are absolutely amazing live. If you like their music, don't miss them.

  • Great Thievery Corporation show in AC

by GioMir on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Thievery Corporation lived up to expectations in a thoroughly enjoyable show that was well paced in taking you through their full repertoire. Perhaps surprise of night was opening act Funk Ark. Glad we didn't decide to skip them as we originally considered. They were a tight funky unit whose rather ordinary stage presence belied their talent to lay down some great beats. An excellent warm-up for Thievery Corp.

Eventhough there was another act and Thievery Corporation started 2 hrs later they show was still amazing. They played for 2 hrs an it was more than what I expected. 2 thumbs all the way up

  • very disappointed

by darensmith on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 2 out of 5

Pretty disappointed. Drove over 13 hours to see Thievery. Guess they just parties to hard the nights prior. Eric Hilton was a no show. Didn't play sound the alarm or illumination and I think of was because rob garza was Left to do all mixing etc... By himself. Felt like we got cheated a little, especially cause of how far we drove. Didn't even play 2 hours. Met Dave the trumpet player at the bar way before show. Cool guy bit said he didn't like it in Atlantic city. Said it would be an awesome show. Terrible job on sweet tides. Lady screwed it all up. All and all it just seemed like they would.rather not be there. Where was the drummer too? Feel like cause.of the drive, lack of professionalism, missing important members and short show, I deserve a refund. Probably won't see them again. Also would like an explaination as to any eric Hilton was a no show. There was mo mention. Thanks a lot for wasting my time/money. Very disappointed.

Thievery Corporation was incredible! I have never seen before and will definitely go again!!

  • Thievery ROCKS Atlantic City!

by thelastsalmonman on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

As a longtime listener, this was my first Thievery Corporation concert, and I couldn't have been more pleased. The band has a commanding stage presence and let's the music speak for itself, using a modest lighting set-up. The sound was great at the House of Blues, and the BASS PLAYER was rockin' out! Their rotating cast of singers were excellent, and I liked that they kept switching it up. They had a lot of energy and really held down the groove. Great show!!

  • Superb combination of musicicans and venue.

by MMilhouse on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

The best live musical performance I have ever witnessed! The acoustics at the House of Blues balcony section were phenomenal and Thievery Corporation just brought the house down. Don't let there CD's fool you into believing this a low key, melodic event.

  • Thievery Corporation - Old Skool Cool

by jhs876 on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Great show. Very dynamic set, little heavy on the Jamaican rude boy music for me (but still good). Would have liked a few more of the older ambient tracks, but still all in all enjoyed it, great sound, great variety. Curiously, only one half of the original duo was there (Rob Garza. Eric Hilton wasn't there...) Go see the show if you like T.C., you'll enjoy it.

  • Thievery Puts on an amazing show as always!

by Anonymous on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue to see an amazing show. The band had great energy and got the crowd into the show.

  • Thievery Corp fabulous, but bad sound engineering

by 4corsa on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Thievery Corporation was outstanding! My first time seeing them so i wasnt sure what to expect. Would they be bringing all their various studio guest performers? Indeed they did - which really added to the fun and variety of the performance. I can't say enough about these guys - truly fabulous! Unfortunately, a big thumbs down to the sound engineers. I love a loud performance as much as anyone, but all the sound levels appeared to be beyond what the speakers could handle and came out distorted. Clarity of the instruments and vocals was non-existant. The bass drowned out everything else and was distorted - not tight in any way. You could barely hear the female vocals (could not decipher a single lyric), and could barely hear the brass. It almost ruined the outstanding performance.

  • Too short!

by KennethRo on 9/27/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

Thievery Corporation had a flawless performance! But ending at 11:30 p.m. was such a bitter and utter disappointment! It was absolutely just too short. I recommend extending the shows at least one hour more.

  • Thievery Corporation

by LAtoSF on 9/20/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Thievery Corporation rocks! Even the terrible sound system at The Fox Theater can't ruin their party! Every body in the packed theater was moving and they kept it going from start to finish. They have been putting out consistently good tunes since The Richest Man in Babylon (and probably before). Love them! Now can we talk about The Fox? Beautiful theater, the best acts in town... can't you spend the money on a better sound tech? I saw The Kills last weekend and was so disappointed with the sound. The Kills BTW rocked the house. Alison Mosshart is so rock and roll, you want to bang your head.

  • Good, but not great.

by hcirlub on 9/20/11Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Let me say first off that the show was good and I love Thievery. BUT, I've seen them before and they can blow minds and melt faces and they didn't do that last week. I was looking for a heavy DJ set and was dissappointed to see only one dj and then to have him abandon the dj table for a guitar. Knowing what they are possible of, made it a dissappointment. If it was my first show then I would have been stoked.

  • by Anonymous on 9/20/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 1 out of 5

The sound was TERRIBLE! The absolute worst that I have ever heard at a concert.

  • Thievery Corporation Culture of Fear Tour
