About

THIEVERY CORPORATION IN CONCERT:

Lounge and electronica collective Thievery Corporation capture the sleek sounds of the international set with their chilled-out beats, worldly sonic palette, and lush synthscapes. Their mesmerizing and eclectic mix of bossa nova, acid jazz, trip hop, and a host of other genres had crate-diggers drooling with jealousy between sets at their 2013 shows, reminding fans just why they're one of downtempo's most beloved acts. With a highly anticipated new album due out in 2014, Thievery Corporation are set to blow minds once again on their upcoming North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Washington, DC's Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in 1995 as an outlet for their shared love of acid jazz, dub reggae, and Brazilian musical traditions. Using Hilton's Eighteenth Street Lounge as a base of operations, their early mixing sessions were a huge success, resulting in their 1997 debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. While the album was a minor success, it was their second record, The Mirror Conspiracy, that really put them on the map, led by the sweltering single "Lebanese Blond." Since then, they have continued to pioneer new directions in downtempo, headlining some of the world's biggest festivals and establishing themselves as legends of the genre.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"So talented and entertaining. Definitely worth seeing them live again soon."

"Absolutely rocked the place. Collaboration of old tunes with new and energetic stuff made it so special and enjoyable. The place was jamming! Loved it!"

"This is the third time I've seen Thievery Corporation and I must say they are one of the BEST live acts I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have not seen them live you are doing yourself a horrible disservice."

Great show! Beats Antique was surprisingly good. Red Rocks is always an amazing venue and you get a mini workout to boot.

  • Thievery still on top!

by bodhiman on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Thievery's performance proves that they are still the best from Reggae to Asian perfectly blended and mixed to a unique style!

  • Best venue-best acts-side by side-AMAZING!

by Etheflorist on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

This is one of the best shows I have ever been to. Not only was it at Red Rocks, but the crowd was high energy the entire time. Afrolicious began and pumped up the crowd followed by an amazing set from Beats Antique. Their show was so awesome! It's like entertainment watching the females do the belly dancing. Thievery was great. Different singers every song, great variety and the energy from everyone was amazing! I wish I could see this every weekend. I would definitely recommend seeing this trio of groups all in one setting. Even if you are not into their music, guaranteed you would have a great time!

  • My first Thievery show, a night to remember!

by PraveenPepper on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

6th row, woot! Opening bands Afrolicious and Beats Antique were both awesome as well. The crowd was amazing, endless beautiful people! The Rocks was what looked like capacity crowd once Thievery came on. Excellent show, amazing percussion, music, & vocalists all around. I will see them everytime they come back now.

  • Thievery Corp was the best!

    by Lance750 on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

All aspects of the show were incredibly performed. Vocals were impeccable. Met all my expectations. Only thing I wished for was a more substantial light show. No complaints though.

  • Thievery was Outta Control.....

  • Thievery Always Hits the Mark

by snowboarderjohn on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

...Especially at Red Rocks. I could watch a 12 year old play the tuba here and have a great time. The venue itself is a huge part in the overall enjoyment of any show here, but Thievery has been and was fabulous. Great energy and diversity and kept it going from start to finish. Not to mention they were paired with Beats Antique, who is a perfect fit with Thievery as an opener. Overall, a Wonderful Night!!!!!!

  • AMAZING SHOW!

    by Teek330s on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Truly awesome on all fronts!! Please come back every year!

  • by Anonymous on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

the only reason i give them a 5 star rating is that I've seen them multiple times in multiple cities for multiple years. And honestly their show hasn't changed since I first saw them 5 or 6 years ago. But thats what you get when you only have a certain number of songs that can be played to create the live show they create.

  • So so

by ddenver on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

After reading prior reviews for January's 2012 HOB show, we were a little leery as to the performance we would see. Unfortunately the reviews were right. The show was very short as compared to other times we have seen them in the past. The show started around 9:35pm and ended around 11:20 pm with a 15 min set break. They also lacked the normal enthusiasm that you come to expect from their performances. It felt like they were just punching a clock until the show was over. MC Mr. Lif did pump up the show a little bit and you could tell he was into it with dropping "culture of fear" The music was tight, Ashish Vyas (bassist ) always brings his game, but again just lacked energy. While I will see them again, if they put on another lack luster performance like this show, I will be hard pressed to drop $50 again.

Thievery is amazing and I recommend seeing them no matter where they're playing!

  • Amazing Variety of Songs & Styles

by Dunners on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Thievery Corporation put on a terrific show, yet again. The band displayed amazing variety in the songs and musical genres that were presented. I also really enjoyed the large variety of singers that came out for the different songs. There was everything from a French vibe, to Brazilian/ South American, to reggae, to rap/ hip-hop, to classic rock, to indian. The energy of the band was terrific! I've seen them several times before, and they varied the setlist enough to make for a different list of songs. I highly recommend seeing Thievery if you want variety and like lots of different music. I've found that this concert is a great one to see on a date or with a big group of friends.

  • Knocked it out of the park

    by Parrothead308 on 8/12/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Thievery Corp chose the perfect opening bands to set the mood..... then the party began! 3rd row center seats couldn't be beat to catch all the stage action, and the music varied wildly as in their album releases. We had a blast - 4hr show :)

  • Good show, but not their best.

by Anonymous on 2/1/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 3 out of 5

I've seen TC 4 times now and must say this wasn't their best show. The HOB was a good venue, my first time being there. I would definitely return to see another show there. Better then other HOB's i've been to. TC put on a good show as usually but my biggest complaint is that just Rob Garza was there from the duo. Not sure if that is why the show seemed short but also some of the house band members were not there either so missed out songs because of that. Overall, a good show, especially for first timers. Hard for me to say it was great after the last show I was at in DC at the end of the summer. Eitherway, i'll be seeing them next time they hit the north east, hopefully this summer.

  • by Anonymous on 1/22/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

It was a wonderful show, although it ended around 12 or 12:30 ... way too early if you ask me. Also, it wasn't cool of the house of blues to charge more for balcony seats when you could freely move from GA to the balcony. Tickets should have been one price.

  • Just a great show

by DJJiGGiE on 1/19/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

The whole group was high energy and really engaged the whole crowd. It was nice to see such a mixture of talent and be able to hear many different styles all in the same show. This concert had rap, rock, lounge, trip-hop, and more. It was on-point!

  • Great Showmanship!

by Stvoiz on 1/16/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Thievery Corporation is definitely awesome....but the sound system of the place sucks! No offense House of Blues.
