About

THIEVERY CORPORATION IN CONCERT:

Lounge and electronica collective Thievery Corporation capture the sleek sounds of the international set with their chilled-out beats, worldly sonic palette, and lush synthscapes. Their mesmerizing and eclectic mix of bossa nova, acid jazz, trip hop, and a host of other genres had crate-diggers drooling with jealousy between sets at their 2013 shows, reminding fans just why they're one of downtempo's most beloved acts. With a highly anticipated new album due out in 2014, Thievery Corporation are set to blow minds once again on their upcoming North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Washington, DC's Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in 1995 as an outlet for their shared love of acid jazz, dub reggae, and Brazilian musical traditions. Using Hilton's Eighteenth Street Lounge as a base of operations, their early mixing sessions were a huge success, resulting in their 1997 debut album Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. While the album was a minor success, it was their second record, The Mirror Conspiracy, that really put them on the map, led by the sweltering single "Lebanese Blond." Since then, they have continued to pioneer new directions in downtempo, headlining some of the world's biggest festivals and establishing themselves as legends of the genre.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"So talented and entertaining. Definitely worth seeing them live again soon."

"Absolutely rocked the place. Collaboration of old tunes with new and energetic stuff made it so special and enjoyable. The place was jamming! Loved it!"

"This is the third time I've seen Thievery Corporation and I must say they are one of the BEST live acts I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have not seen them live you are doing yourself a horrible disservice."

    by Miss98 on 9/25/13Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I lucky to experience Thievery Corp for the third time.... truly amazing! So much energy filled the entire audience. Can't wait to see them again! !!!

  • morcheba was outstanding

    by Anonymous on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

The only reason I bought my tickets was to see morcheeba and Skye Edwards. I have never heard of thievery Corporation until now. I heard Afrolicious play before. They are great to get the crowd moving everybody dancing it was an exciting opening act. I was ecstatic when Morcheba came out I loved the show. I said "I could leave now and be happy." Others around me said I had no idea what was about to happen. I cannot believe how many individuals are with the Thievery Corporation. I really enjoyed the show. For me Morcheeba Was the best experience ever... My friend said last time he saw them as a head liner they were much better if that was a good show I can't wait to see them in A bad ass show.

  • Thievery Corporation Executes Sweet Audio Heist

by Socalwong on 9/24/13Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Thievery Corporation at the Greek and was rewarded with one of the most memorable performances in my recent experience. The cavalcade of vocal performers backed by an incredibly talented band wove a varied path of audio delight. Entertaining from first note to inspired and uplifting closing number. Highly the journey.

  • Good but short

by JerkoHrvatin on 9/24/13Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

Thievery Corporation started at 9:15pm and I arrived a little late at about 9:35. I was very surprised that it was promptly over at 10:30pm. Come early and see the opening performers because TC won't put on a long show.

  • Thievery Corp stole the show!

    by Rogue420 on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

After watching Morcheeba I was definitely in the mood for TC, Morcheeba was awesome, I didn't really dig Afro band that opened but they seemed ok I guess, Morcheeba was incredible, but from start to mind blowing finish Thievery was everything and more I had hoped to see in their show, they were not just on it, they were beyond perfection, the highlights on the night for me were the female vocalists performance , Lou Lou sang more beautifully than I have ever heard her and Rob Myers on the sitar and guitar just blew my mind, Mamdala was awesome, as well as his "Steve Howe'esque' solo end riffs as the band took a bow at the end. I didn't ever want them to stop playing. I wish they let the girls do more of their songs, and wanted to hear Hare Krishna, but can't have it all in one night I suppose:) I can't say enough good about Thievery Corporation and I think they are way underrated, and In my heart have secured themselves with the likes of Pink Floyd , David Gilmour , Yes, massive attack , Grateful dead, Gorillaz, and are in a complete class of their own.

  • Thievery Corporation rocks!

    by Marciamlt on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

I knew it was going to be a good show but I was not prepared for the great show it was. The people, the ambiance, the artists, the song line up, the starry night, the moon, the friends that came! It was superb! It was amazing! Never to miss another show of this band in my neck of the woods, never!

  • Morcheeba was mesmerizing!

    by Kia11 on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show at a fantastic venue!! We sat up on the grassy hill overlooking the outdoor stage, amphitheater, Golden Gate Bridge, and Bay at sunset. Morcheeba was a wonderful mix of mellow and funky, with a great showcase of both the soulful sounds of Skye Edwards and the impressive talent of all group members. Being parents with a first-time babysitter, we opted to leave before Thievery Corporation...but Morcheeba was completely worth it for us -- and the Greek Theatre was an experience in itself!!

  • Thievery Corporation are the best

    by Ilovemusicccc on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

The Corp are definitely one of the best groups we have around ; the music, the production, the singers, the eclectic songs and styles going on stage. It's my 2nd time see them live and it's like a big party going on the stage and if this description still didn't convinced you, check them at youtube the 2013 full concert at Greece (the real country) and see for yourself. Enjoy!

  • Thievery Corporation w/ Morcheeba! Amazing!

    by Webchanga on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

Afrolishous opened and were high energy grooves, a new fav band for me. Then with special guest, Morcheeba, the Theivery, it was like two amazing shows in one night! Three really! And the Greek is incredible this time of year. We danced all night, the whole crowd was moving!

  • A nice line-up, a very nice venue.

    by gbin2 on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 4 out of 5

The bands were both (Morcheeba and Thievery corp) fantastic playing stuff from all over their 15-year lifespan.

  • Thievery Corporation and Morcheeba were FANTASTIC!

    by MS1967 on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

Another unforgettable show by Morcheeba and Thievery Corporation! The storm earlier in the day cleared up and set the stage for an amazing evening in Berkeley. The venue is great as always and the bands were spot on!! I had a great seat but could not sit in it because I was dancing the entire show! If they come to your area ... SEE THEM BOTH!!! So happy Skye is back with Morcheeba! Her voice is an instrument in and of itself.

This past weekend it was a hazy and rainy day! As the concert time approached the sky cleared up and the music gods allowed for a tremendous event! It was a concert of long loved groups.. and the Greek in Berkeley is a PERFECT location to enjoy great music!

  • Came for Morcheeba, Stayed for Thievery Corp

    by SFChris on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 4 out of 5

I have to admit, I only bought the tix to see Morcheeba (who were flawless and only performed for a hot minute), but loved the headliner who turned it out with a ton of guest vocals and a variety of styles... all of which you could groove to or outright dance to. Great time!

  • Morcheeba rocked!

    by hawtd on 9/24/13Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 4 out of 5

Morcheeba's performance was the highlight of the show. Better than Thievery Corporation, unfortunately. Can't wait to see more of Morcheeba. Amazing!

  • What a performance!

by NeedAVacay on 8/11/13Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing venue and proformance, how could you go wrong? This was our first time seeing Thievery Corporation and second time here in Red Rocks. Not even the rain could dampen our experience! -Houston, TX

  • Something for everybody!

    by thelastprince11 on 8/8/13Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Thievery Corporations is simply the bomb. Everyone I told about this concert kept asking me who..never heard of them! Are you kidding me! Thievery is some of the best music I've ever heard and the entire band kicked ass. Not only do they offer many styles with a fun stage presence but they also played for 2 hours and 15 mins! Worth every dollar and then some..thanks Thievery Corp! I'd definitely see you again.

  • Transcendent

by Izzybalooba on 8/7/13Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible venue. Incredible music. Way cool crowd. The music took me to another plane of existence. I might actually have enjoyed the opener "Art Department" the best. My favorite moment was when they brought a bunch of girls/ladies up on stage and they danced. The girl in yellow while clearly a professional dancer was a stand out. They should consider adding dancers like this girl.
