    best party ever

by fattits on 1/2/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

i've seen the new deal a handful of times, and the best ones are in NYC new years. i've been to their first one in 06 and their supposed last one in 12. even if they do call it off, they should still get together for the new years.

    new deal rocks

by newdealfan on 1/2/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Im a huge new deal fan i been seeing them several times a year for the past 8 years and this show was probably the worst due to the fact that it was way oversold... it was sold out at bbkings last year NYE and this year it felt like there was 33% more people there. Theres no way the same amount of tickets were released. it was disgusting how many people were bumping into each other. As far as the show the new deal rocked as always

It was extremely difficult getting past the crowds outside the venue on New Year's Eve, however, awesome venue, awesome show, awesome people, awesome music, AWESOME! THE NEW DEAL RULES!

    Loved The New Deal

by MaryMad on 7/8/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I admit that I didn't know much about The New Deal but bought the tickets for a gift for my husband and took him on a date. We're older than the usual crowd at the Paradise but once the band started playing it didn't matter. Everyone was caught up in the music! We had a great time, loved the band, loved the Paradise Rock Club!

    Great music. And great venue.

by Beastlyhood on 5/10/11Terminal 5 - New York

First time at terminal 5 and my first time seeing the new deal. What an experience. Truly an unforgettable night. It's too bad they're calling it quits after this tour. I would do it all over again.

    Love The New Deal

    by Shananana589 on 5/9/11Terminal 5 - New York

I give 5 stars for the band. I never actually saw them on account of how terrible Terminal 5 is. I highly recommend seeing The New Deal. But Terminal 5 is by far the worst venue I have ever encounted. NEVER GO TO TERMINAL 5.

New Deal tore it up as always, a must see show. They played all their greatest songs and just tore it up on the jamming.

    TND goes out in syle!

    by som2001 on 5/9/11Terminal 5 - New York

Great night with some awesome performers. Sub Swara started it out right getting the crowd moving, then OTT with his downtempo kept us enthralled until it was time for the main attraction. One of my fav bands who I've seen for over ten years, so they will be missed. Lots of energy from both the crowd, and the band as they played favs like Octobong, technobeam, and VL tone. Thanks guys, you will be missed.

    Disappointing

    by electrofan123 on 5/9/11Terminal 5 - New York

They were not exciting. The music was cheesy 90s dance, sounded like the soundtrack to a video game on Nintendo 64. Absolutely nothing going on with their light show, nothing stimulating at all. Really disappointed

the New Deal kill it every time

by CoEvCa on 5/9/11The Electric Factory - Philadelphia

The concert started with a bang and continued crazily on into the night. Darren is an amazing drummer and a treat to watch. Nobody was standing still.

    The New Deal was SICK!

by AHugeFanofTND on 5/7/11The National - Richmond

I have been to roughly ten live music concerts this year and have seen some truly incredible live performances, but The New Deal at the National was definitely one of the highlights of my year so far. I had not really heard of them until one of my friends mentioned them a few weeks before the concert, but after hearing the band was breaking up, I had to see them live. I was at first skeptical because youtube and itunes made their music sound really repetitive and bland, but seeing them live was a whole different experience and it was awesome. Everyone needs to see The New Deal. I was stunned that there were only three guys making the sounds I was hearing. Most of the bands I have listened to have had at least four members playing so this was a very unique experience. Not only that, but the really distinguishing feature from the other bands I have listened to was that The New Deal played mostly improvised songs which added an extra layer of creativity and enjoyment. Of the songs I recognized, it sounded like a part of the song would be played and then another song or part of a song (probably just pure improvisation) would be played before returning back to the beat of the original song. With only a drummer, a bassist, and a keyboardist, The New Deal created a unique symphony of sounds that was upbeat and really intense. Throughout the show, I noticed there was a lot repetition and looping in the sounds (keyboard mostly), but these repetitions and loops helped build up to the highest tempoed and loudest parts of the show. In addition, the drums usually had a very defined, but simple beat almost like a drum machine. I am not entirely sure, but it seemed like there was always one instrumentalist playing a very steady back beat and the other two were just making up beats and sounds on top that ended up synchronizing very well together. The New Deal is a perfect example of minimalist musical characteristics; there was lots of repetition, a steady beat, and additive processes (and many more characteristics). The New Deal is a really awesome addition to postrock music and it is really going to suck when they break up after the summer. I am going to Camp Bisco music festival this summer and I really can’t wait to see you guys again. You better kill it! Thanks for a truly awesome and unforgettable show!

The New Deal Rocks but Royale Doesn't

by SBGalaxy on 2/5/11Royale Boston - Boston

I've seen The New Deal over a dozen times and they have the heart and the energy to play 2+ hours... the crowd gets ramped up and they do too! But the other night at Royale I didn't feel like anybody had time to get fully pumped because the venue had a curfew of like 11:15pm. It's so weird because when that place was the Roxy they would regularly allow shows to go til 12:30 or 1am. So I was very disappointed that the dance party only lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. I think the New Deal guys were disappointed too. What's up with that Royale!?!?

Great Show, awful time getting in the venue

by tndfan on 1/3/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

The show itself was excellent - you can't go wrong with The New Deal, if you're a fan of live-breakbeat-progressive-house music..... I'm writing this, however, because BB Kings Blues Club, despite having held this annual Late Night NYE party at least 2 other times that I can recall, was set up as such that only 5 people could enter at a time, because there was ONE PERSON taking tickets. The tickets said "doors at 1am, show at 1:30am". Despite arriving at 1:20am, my friends and I were not permitted to enter the venue until 2:50am. By this time, The New Deal was almost finished with its first set. The thing is, its not like anybody did anything wrong. As far as I could see, the line to get in the club was orderly, and calm. this falls ENTIRELY on BB Kings. How could any venue allow their patrons to wait outside in the cold for nearly 2 hours while the show they paid GOOD MONEY to see was being performed. Utterly PATHETIC
