About

Four years after forming in a London school, The xx unleashed their 2009 eponymous debut via Young Turks. The 11-track collection not only earned accolades from critics across the globe, but it also scored the U.K.’s coveted Mercury Prize and landed the dream-pop band in the limelight stateside. Singles from their indie-label foray graced American television programs like “Person of Interest” and “90210,” as well as a Karl Lagerfeld runway show and NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Along with their own headlining theater tours and concerts alongside Friendly Fires, Hundred Waters and The Big Pink, the musical trio has performed at several festivals, including the Matt Groening-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2010, Coachella, Sasquatch Festival and Lollapalooza, among others.

For their most recent effort, 2012’s “Coexist,” the indie pop outfit expanded their ticket-buying base with post-dubstep EDM influences. Though mellow, these touches can be heard in the album’s first two singles, “Angels” and “Chained.”

  • They're simply amazing

by LetyLuv on 4/21/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Sampha opened for the XX and he was amazing as well! The XX came an hour after he finished playing. A lot of downtime but it was all worth it when they came out! Their performance will always be the best in my book! I've seen them twice now and can't wait to see more!

  • Fire the Mixer

by Mospher on 4/20/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San FranciscoRating: 1 out of 5

Whoever was mixing sound wanted everyone to feel the BASS - and nothing else. Bass was cranked so loud that I could feel my stomach move. That would have been ok if it hadn't swamped and distorted all the other sounds. The vocals were particularly distorted. I think that "atmospheric" is a reasonable description of The XX sound. But the sound mixer decided that the only atmosphere would be booms of Thunder and crashes of lighting. Been looking forward to seeing The xx live for sometime so it was very disappointing.

An amazing show as always. Great venue too, you can get up close and personal.

  • The xx were exceptional

They are a new band to me, having just bought their latest album, but I was really impressed with the gig. They came on very late, my only criticism, 9:40pm on a Monday night, but exploded on stage and kept getting better as the night went on. I was really impressed with the lighting and staging, their voices and how tightly they worked together as a band. I had to miss the end, unfortunately, but would definitely go and see them again.

  • Amazing live!

by Jazzness on 4/20/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

The Xx is already a great band, but they are so much better in person than I could have ever imagined. They really know how to get the mood going from chill swaying, to nice upbeat tempo, to "everyone on their feet!" Would have seen them all three nights if I could've!

  • Blown Away

Easily one of the best live acts out there, and shows I've ever seen, really. They have such a great presence and an honest delivery that's refreshing. All three of them are excellent performers in their own right, but together they're total dynamite. Highly, highly recommended.

Amazing from start to finish. The XX never disappoint!!!

  • The XX sounded great live

by Anonymous on 4/19/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

The Band was great. The sound system was out of tune with too much bass. The stage set up, with all the mirrors, reflected the lights to much and distracting from seeing the band clearly.

  • PHENOMENAL

by acornier on 4/19/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

The XX is pure talent. They are amazing performers live and are so extremely grateful for their fans. What really topped off their show was the light show. The use of colors, light, and mirrors just completed the experience. Everything was perfect. I'd see them live over and over again.

I finally got to see them live and it was just as amazing and epic as I could have imagined. The set list was a great combination of old and new. The stage design was incredible. Quintessential xx.

  • Never disappointed!

by Yosie831 on 4/18/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

I drove 6 hours from the LA area to see The xx, it was worth it! The venue is huge and I was fortunate enough to have our Lyft driver drop us off on the corner while the hundreds of fans were across the street, that we were able to blend in with another couple that by the time we got in I was 4 rows away from the stage! I've enjoyed this band since '09 and this has been my 3rd time seeing them. My heart is full!

My 2nd time seeing The xx and they have yet to disappoint. They sound even better live than on the album!
