About

Four years after forming in a London school, The xx unleashed their 2009 eponymous debut via Young Turks. The 11-track collection not only earned accolades from critics across the globe, but it also scored the U.K.’s coveted Mercury Prize and landed the dream-pop band in the limelight stateside. Singles from their indie-label foray graced American television programs like “Person of Interest” and “90210,” as well as a Karl Lagerfeld runway show and NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Along with their own headlining theater tours and concerts alongside Friendly Fires, Hundred Waters and The Big Pink, the musical trio has performed at several festivals, including the Matt Groening-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2010, Coachella, Sasquatch Festival and Lollapalooza, among others.

For their most recent effort, 2012’s “Coexist,” the indie pop outfit expanded their ticket-buying base with post-dubstep EDM influences. Though mellow, these touches can be heard in the album’s first two singles, “Angels” and “Chained.”

The xx put on an amazing performance at Paradise Theater. The vocals were perfect, all of the crowd-pleasing favorites were played, and the light show (culminating with a giant X behind the band on the last song) was entrancing. Jamie xx displayed his masterful production techniques by reworking some of the songs and even creating a much-welcomed club atmosphere on a few tracks that got people moving. Only complaint is that crystalised was played in a much slower tempo and with a slight variance in the melody that had the crowd confused, such as when everyone sang the "ay ay ay" line 3-4 seconds before Oliver did. Crystalised is one of those songs that everyone wants to hear with the traditional uptempo melody, and it was a little disappointing to not hear it in that way. Besides that, an absolute flawless performance by the xx. I will definitely be seeing them again next time they come to NYC

Beautiful venue! I admit that such a low key band as the XX might find it difficult to liven up the performance and make the crowd feel fully integrated

They manage to deliver an amazing show without any dead moments in it, just like their albums, they are hypnotizing while preforming live as well.

Was very excited to see The xx but they only played 3,4 songs and it got rained out.

  • by Anonymous on 10/14/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

Only actually played 3 songs and had to quit because of the rain, really annoying seen as we had come from the UK would be cool to get a refund or ticket to one of their uk line up as we had gone so far to see them and only got 3 songs :( I'm sure if the rain hadn't have ruined it it would have been perfect thought S

  • The xx are a must see!!

by sunnyc24 on 10/13/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I drove to the Vegas show because I couldn't get tickets to the LA show and it was definitely worth it! They had a great stage presence, sounded amazing, stage looked great...overall I was very pleased. The sad part is due to a down pour, they had to stop in the middle of the show, but the band was very apologetic, gracious, and did their best to get through as many songs as they could! All around, I was very impressed and will definitely see them again!

  • The xx was awful...

by NeverrAgain on 10/13/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Not only was the show stopped halfway through due to rain and no refunds offered, the band didn't have any energy, and the crowd could feel it. Worst show I've been to in a decade.

  • The Xx ...Enough said

by Vigilante91 on 10/12/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say...These guys ROCKED! They did an incredible performance. Unfortunately, mother nature had to ruin the concert, but the Xx played as long as they could and every minute of the show was bliss.

  • The XX concert got rained out.....

by DisappointedOCboy on 10/12/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Nice venue at the Marquee Pool at the Cosmopolitan resort. The only problem is the concert got rained out after waiting 2 hours for the band to show from the opening act. Very disappointed with no follow up on concert being rained out.

  • XX at Cosmopolitan

by mtab on 10/12/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

I want my money back! They played outdoors and 30 minutes into the set, it rained. I payed almost $40 bucks each for two tickets for a 30 minute set. It was raining all day and Cosmo should have moved the concert indoors.

  • Awesome regardless of the rain.

If it were not for the rain it would have been perfect. They tried to go on but it really was impossible.

This band is good live but took so long to set up that they had to cancel 10 minutes into the act because of the rain. Waste of time and money
