About

Four years after forming in a London school, The xx unleashed their 2009 eponymous debut via Young Turks. The 11-track collection not only earned accolades from critics across the globe, but it also scored the U.K.’s coveted Mercury Prize and landed the dream-pop band in the limelight stateside. Singles from their indie-label foray graced American television programs like “Person of Interest” and “90210,” as well as a Karl Lagerfeld runway show and NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Along with their own headlining theater tours and concerts alongside Friendly Fires, Hundred Waters and The Big Pink, the musical trio has performed at several festivals, including the Matt Groening-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2010, Coachella, Sasquatch Festival and Lollapalooza, among others.

For their most recent effort, 2012’s “Coexist,” the indie pop outfit expanded their ticket-buying base with post-dubstep EDM influences. Though mellow, these touches can be heard in the album’s first two singles, “Angels” and “Chained.”

I love The XX but their concert was too short :( I did't really like their setlist and their light show was alright. But g*ddam they sound amazing. They sound exactly the same as, if not better than, their albums.

I loved everything about the show, from the opening band to the amazing performance of The XX, their lights and whole on-stage persona was unforgettable.

  • The XX was fantastic

The XX show, although packed and difficult to get into even an hour after the show started, and two hours after doors, was a fantastic show. The sound was great in the Ballroom, and the lights and venue were more than adequate. Great performance and good setlist.

thy overall performance is magnifying. Been to their show twice, both times I've been wowed. They truly vibe out together as a band. Take advantage now, while their tickets are still affordable!!!

  • The xx keep getting better and better

I saw the xx live about a year and a half ago, and their ability to entertain an audience has grown incredibly. Obviously, with the new album, they have more songs to play, but their sense of flair is what has made their live act more enjoyable. The lighting and drama behind their different stagings added to the overall ambiance and mystique of the show. Great performances and beautiful lighting really made this a show to remember.

This show was the most incredible performance I have ever experienced live. Everything from the lighting to the set to the quality of sound so far exceeded my expectations.

The xx concert is easily the best concert I've ever been to (and trust me, I've been to a lot of concerts). The performance was perfect and very precise, and it is clear that the band is comprised of perfectionists that take music very seriously. The segues from songs were very fluid, and the set was very well organized. I know I'm not alone; I overheard someone say that he felt that the band was performing just for him. And though the venue was quite large, it did feel very intimate and honest. I highly recommend seeing The xx live.

The xx never disappoint. Their live performances are second to none.

  • Amazing music with bonus light show

by Smita629 on 1/27/13Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The xx are an amazing band and they really focus their show on the music. They back-lit the stage so the band looked like shadows and the venue was pumped with smoke machines creating a dream-like, cloudy experience. This really played well with their style of music. More then just music...

  • Amazing

by JossyG on 11/28/12Paradise Theater - BronxRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing, the lighting the vocals, the sound could of been a little bit better, only seemed like the sound guy had some levels a little bit too high so we couldn't hear the vocals very well, but overall the band was great and Oliver on the guitar wow I've never seen anyone play like that. Everyone was amazing!! loved Jaime's synths and Romy's vocals of course awesome. The Paradise theater is a beautiful venue. Def seeing them again in January!!! hopefully we can meet and all hang-out and we can show them a real night in NYC together. ;)

  • xx in the bx

I had heard a lot of people not liking the XX live since their music doesn't exactly lend itself to a live setting. The main down side to their live performances is their tempo. Usually with a live show the band speeds up the songs and add a bit more of a beat to a track that might not having it in the recording. Instead the XX slowed down some already slow and tracks and that caused the crowd to disengage a lot more than I was use to at a live event. The shining moments were when Jamie was able to lay a sick beat loop and pump up tracks, breathing life into the show. I gotta say that despite the out the way location, the crowd was very strong and enthusiastic and I had a great time seeing them live.

by UNFACEIT on 10/29/12Paradise Theater - BronxRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great experience. The combination of both: the performance and venue. The Paradise Theater is a hidden gem! It is sensational. The show itself was beyond all expectations. The XX gave it all to the audience and performed their best.

  • the xx provided a rebirth experience

by yefry on 10/29/12Paradise Theater - BronxRating: 5 out of 5

the most magnificent experience of my entire life. I cant describe how many emotions i went thru. Starting with the fact that i gave my ticket to my brother, left without a ticket i went with a friend determined to get in, to the sold out show, at whatever cost. On our way to the Bronx we got lost and ended up 20 minutes away form the venue with no immediate method of transportation. After asking a few strangers and verifying with our iphones we took a bus who dropped us 10 minutes away. We walked and got there around 9:15 and luckily a man offered to sell us tickets for he was no longer able to attend. the stars alined for us that night and we ended up with tickets that allowed us to be really close to the stage. We couldn't believe our good fortune after all the struggle we went through to arrive. the night was only beginning for as soon as they got on stage i was transported to a place where I've never been to, but will always remember as "the xx". my mood, my thoughts, all of me became more understanding and optimistic of the world i attribute to. I thank u for an experience I'm sure will never live twice. You are my favorite band i can see your souls composed in every lyric and tune of your music, that's what drew me to you and that's what has me listening to your music constantly. My heart in beating in a different way because of you, and for that I Thank you
