About

Four years after forming in a London school, The xx unleashed their 2009 eponymous debut via Young Turks. The 11-track collection not only earned accolades from critics across the globe, but it also scored the U.K.’s coveted Mercury Prize and landed the dream-pop band in the limelight stateside. Singles from their indie-label foray graced American television programs like “Person of Interest” and “90210,” as well as a Karl Lagerfeld runway show and NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Along with their own headlining theater tours and concerts alongside Friendly Fires, Hundred Waters and The Big Pink, the musical trio has performed at several festivals, including the Matt Groening-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2010, Coachella, Sasquatch Festival and Lollapalooza, among others.

For their most recent effort, 2012’s “Coexist,” the indie pop outfit expanded their ticket-buying base with post-dubstep EDM influences. Though mellow, these touches can be heard in the album’s first two singles, “Angels” and “Chained.”

Such a great performance. I felt lifted to another universe with their awesome authentic sounds, great light show, and amazing mix of DJ & strong drums/other instrumentals

The XX put on another incredible show. Full of energy and with out pause they killed it with songs from both albums.

  • Great Show!

Huge fan so i feel my personal opinion is a bit biased, but who better to describe the experience than a true fan?! What sets the stage is the sick light show, kudos to the set designers and techs. Romy and Oliver sounded spot on, as epic or if not better than the albums, resonating in our heads like a haunting heartbreak, yet leaving a warm fuzzy feeling nonetheless. Jaime was electric and brought the funk, setting the tempo through sprinkled bits of hip hop drums here and there to keep us feeling alive. Overall visually captivating and aurally magnificent. Great show to take your girl out to see.

Seen The XX in Brighton and now in NY. Great experience to see them in Radio City - it was the perfect way to end a 4 month travelling holiday.

I saw the XX in January at the Manhattan Center and I loved it! Thought they were amazing until I saw them this past Monday 9/23/13. The show was unforgettable, they sounded fantastic, they had an incredible light show and they were so gracious to the audience!!! I am in complete LOVE with The XX!! I also have to say their opening band Polica who I had never heard before is a band I def want to listen to more and get their music!!! The show was sublime!!

  • Absolutely PERFECT!

by Rhysanthia on 9/24/13STAGE AE - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Okay, I'll be honest.. The xx aren't my favorite band, and I was dragged along by a friend who was looking for someone to go with-- so I decided to be nice. I thought that I would have regretted buying tickets; but no. This show was absolutely amazing. PERFECT. They performed so well to the point of constantly listening to them all night afterwards. You can tell they're passionate about what they do; and it's so easy to get lost in their music. It's hypnotic along with the beautiful light effects. I highly recommend them to anyone who has listened to even one of their songs. They kept me on edge and dancing all night. I don't regret a thing.

  • Personal and beautiful

by gibbb on 9/24/13STAGE AE - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

They both were intriguing and sing so very well! I love the music, of course. The show itself was pleasing to the eye because of the light show. I would go back a thousand times over.

XX is seriously great live. Opener was okay. Wish it was a little shorter, but XX was worth the wait.

The xx are incredible live! They really care about their music and you can tell they care about their fans too; you can tell in the passion they put into their show. They seem like genuinely good people too.

  • The xx Simply Amazing Performance

The performance was great. The light show was perfect. The xx sounded just like they do on the album.

  • The xx

by popsong on 9/24/13STAGE AE - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

The xx made their Pittsburgh debut and put on an unbeatable (and sold out!) show. I don't think a single fan left the stage feeling disappointed. The crowd was, to say in my old age, a bit obnoxious, but The xx made the experience well worth it.

The XX is amazing, and their live shows never disappoint. The openers were also very great. Berkeley's Greek theater is a great venue for live music shows.

  • Great Show and location!

This was my first time at the Uptown Amphitheater and the NC Music Factory location and it is the perfect place for any music fan. It is easy to access, park and navigate. The amphitheater itself is open with wonderful amenities, including spacious and clean restrooms! Grizzly Bear and the xx were magnificent. Sound and lighting was wonderful and everyone I had to deal with in the facility was helpful and polite. Thanks for a great experience.
