Four years after forming in a London school, The xx unleashed their 2009 eponymous debut via Young Turks. The 11-track collection not only earned accolades from critics across the globe, but it also scored the U.K.’s coveted Mercury Prize and landed the dream-pop band in the limelight stateside. Singles from their indie-label foray graced American television programs like “Person of Interest” and “90210,” as well as a Karl Lagerfeld runway show and NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Along with their own headlining theater tours and concerts alongside Friendly Fires, Hundred Waters and The Big Pink, the musical trio has performed at several festivals, including the Matt Groening-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2010, Coachella, Sasquatch Festival and Lollapalooza, among others.
For their most recent effort, 2012’s “Coexist,” the indie pop outfit expanded their ticket-buying base with post-dubstep EDM influences. Though mellow, these touches can be heard in the album’s first two singles, “Angels” and “Chained.”
2nd time I see them and it's just amazing , can't wait til next time
The xx was absolutely incredible, one of the best shows I have been to all year, and I go to quite a few. Jamie xx played an after party at Hot Mass in the Strip and being so close to his incredible talent was a night to never forget and I am very grateful I was able to bring my friend from England and get him into the sold out show. Great thanks to the guy outside the venue who helped me out on that front!! Stage AE will always be one of my favorite venues, never change a thing and I do believe you will have one great following from my friends and family!!!! Go Pittsburgh and the amazing shows this fall :)
Very cool lightning, the XX came in very late though, which was kinda annoying. But other than that great setlist and concert!
The xx have a very intimate show but I don't think they are ready for venues like radio city music hall. The lights were prepared for a different style of venue so many times people had to avoid looking at the scenario because the lasers were all over the place. Crystalised is my favourite song from them and they played a different version to make it a sing-a-long that actually sounded like a rehearsal... Polica, the opening band, did a great job to prepare us for the main event.
The acoustics, light show and energy of the show were perfect. One of my favorite concerts - the venue was also incredible!
The xx sounded amazing, surpassing their record. Radio City was the perfect venue for them. Them maintained an intimacy during their show. Although the mood was broken for me by an extremely drunk and inappropriate couple standing directly in front of me, I nonetheless enjoyed the show. They seemed so thankful for getting the opportunity to play in the States. Love this band, and loved this show. They were excellent.
It was my first time attending an event at Radio City Hall and I was impressed. What a great venue. I had great seats! The overall venue is structured for an overall great view. The XX were amazing, even better live. I've always been a fan but it was my first time seeig them and I was impressed. I would definitely see them again!
Second time seeing this superbly talented group, and it didn't disappoint even though I knew the show routine from having seen it before. The amazing thing is their stage presence; they put on an incredible show and mesmerize the audience with their movements which are almost like a choreography to the songs, heightening the moment and emphasizing the music's feel. Both their voices and all the instruments are incredibly clear and sound even better live; at first I thought their music wouldn't make for a good live performance, but I was proved wrong by the clever live performance adaptation and remixing of songs; the beats were perfectly arranged into a dance-ier version one could easily move to. I still can't get over what a perfect performance it was; everything from their stage outfits to the set up of equipment and the amazing lightscapes and use of lasers, but most importantly how genuinely talented and humble Jamie, Oliver and Romy were. It was truly an amazing sensory experience, and one hasn't seen it all without having seen the XX.
GREAT SHOW! Lighting was incredible too! The venue was beautiful!
The xx was great, and their guest, Polica was great as well. Although The xx's performance was excellent, I wish they played more! Polica performed for about an hour, and The xx performed for about 30~40 minutes.
The XX sounded just like they do on their albums, except perhaps the male lead singer's voice was even richer and amazing in concert. Their set was quick - perfect for a weeknight show. It was a blast.
The xx music is delicate and very powerful. I can't remember in a long time being so effected by an overwhelming band. It was really a night worth. The xx, a British band with two dreamy albums, was absolutely bewitching during this concert .
the show was fantastic! the lasers and the performance and sound and voices . every part of it was awesome ! i wish i could have sat in my orchestra level seat though .... someone else had taken it and wouldn't move. And the opening band . Policia was soooooo good !
the lights and instrumentals were unbelieveable. Best I've ever seen at a concert. Would definitely pay to see them live again
Totally in love with this band, their performance was amazing and I love the acoustics in Radio City Music Hall
The most amazing show you'll ever see. Great voices live great energy and a dance party. Every time I see them it's an experience I never forget
an amazing, parred-down show. just perfectly perfect.
The show was extremely good. The sound was great and their performance was unforgettable.
The band was awesome. They never disappoint live =)
Polica as their opening act definitely got the crowd going. But once The XX went out it was just an amazing feeling & it was just so much fun!!! Even though we had seats we were standing the whole time! They made the show amazing!!!!
