    Granddaughters Loved It!

by dieforHim on 5/23/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

My husband & I took our granddaughters to see this play. I would definetly recommend it. The dancing was excellent, which the girls enjoyed. The characters portrayed their parts well. I was surprised that there was no playbill, however, especially for the price we paid for our tickets. And the volume could have been a little louder.

Actors were very good. The production as a whole was awful. The sets were what you would see in a high school play. When I think about how much you paid for yours tickets, it begins to make you sick to your stomach.

Theater is amazing. Production dragged a little. Seemed more like a well-done community theater presentation than a professional one. Good for small children.

    Oz is a must see!!!

by Smilequeen69 on 5/22/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting, but I was overly impressed with this version of the Wizard of Oz!! I brought my granddaughters and made a conscious decision not to show them the movie first so that their first impression of the Wizard of Oz would be the stage performance. This exceeded my expectations!!! Loved the singing, choreography, the sets, video, costumes, blocking, directing, orchestra, EVERY aspect!!! THANK YOU!!!

Lower quality than a typical Broadway play.

by TerriSteph on 5/22/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I've been to many plays, and this was my least favorite. It was cheaply done and not to the standards of a typical Broadway play. They didn't even have programs. There was a jitterbug dance that wasn't even part of the original movie. The actors who played the Lion, Tin Man, and Wicked Witch were very good. The bathrooms in the venue cannot accommodate all the people. When the show started back up after the intermission, there was still a long line for the women's bathroom. The cost of snacks is ridiculous.

Don’t waste your time or money

by Showboatr68 on 5/22/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Venue is beautiful but the performance was mediocre at best. To start their were no playbills or programs and we were told to go online if we had questions about the show. The costumes and set looked as if they were borrowed from a high school drama club. Musical scenes were average, nothing impressive about any voice or song that were sung. The small group of musicians located in the pit clearly had similar feeling of the show by how they behaved including the trombone player reading a novel, which appeared to be to kill a mocking bird, during the entire show. Also during the entire performance children were screaming with no reaction by the staff at all. I understand it was a show that children could enjoy but if they are crying for 15 minutes maybe assist these people to the exit until they can renter without a huge disturbance. All shows can’t be hits but my money would have been better spent tossing 200 single dollars off the roof of the building and watching the reaction below.

    Amazing!!!

by MEEKF on 5/22/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

We LOVED the show! It was SO good! The actors were so talented and entertaining! Honestly would see it again. They added a little humor to and you could her the entire audience just cracking up. The music parts give you goose bumps bc the voices are just so good. Not to mention they all sound exactly like the character even when speaking! Loved it!

    Uninspiring

by Lagunalove on 5/22/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

The play was only so-so. It was as if the characters has studied the original movie, and copied each character down to arm and leg movements and facial expressions. I love the movie, and expected more from a $150 seat. The best was that no souvenirs were sold. That saved me a ton of money.

Too long. Not a very “Broadway”production. More of an off broadway local theater type presentation.

    Nice

by Hubbies on 5/22/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

We enjoyed the musical, but was disappointed in the acoustics and sound quality. Great music but simply missing that “wow” factor. Actors and actresses did great.

    Fun production

by jp2oz on 5/21/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

An interesting interpretation of the classic OZ. A lot of ad lb with the comedy twist. Fun I wish there was some merchandise for the show, not even a program. Thanks

If you like The Wizard of Oz, you should go see this play. The cast did a wonderful job, really impressed with the actress playing Dorothy - she was excellent! I was in the second row and probably would sit a little farther back on my next visit. The theatre is beautiful!

    Wizard of Oz was super!

by Chris4cats on 5/21/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Took my 12 year old granddaughter and she absolutely loved it. Good show for young and old. Kudos to the actors. Their voices actually sounded just like the real characters. Only one thing was out of character - Toto wasn't black!
