    Mermaid Theatre the best!

by snowsage on 1/20/15Stiefel Theatre - Salina

I took 3 3&4 year olds to the show. They loved it! Each "act" was just the right length. The original music made it lively. And they were very excited when the puppeteers came out after the show to tell about how they did things. They especially liked the "ninja puppeteer" mask.

The show started 15 minutes late and the kids were getting antsy in the seats. My only complaint.

My kids really enjoyed this show! It was a bit upsetting that other parents refused to keep their children quiet, so it was VERY difficult to hear at times.

    Lovely Afternoon!

by OscarandAvivasMom on 11/13/13The Peabody Daytona Beach - Daytona Beach

This was a most enjoyable afternoon. The children loved it and the venue was clean. All the ushers were friendly and helpful. The presentation was the right length to hold even young ones' attention and the colors were wonderful. A great grandparent experience to share.

Very Hungry Caterpillar was a flop!!

by sportymom38 on 11/5/13The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

This was our first time attending the Orpheum and although we loved the theater, the performance was less then desirable. We took our 3.5 yr old and were very very disappointed. There were two adults sitting in front of us (we were row 10 center from the stage) so my son had to sit on my husbands lap and watch thru the gap between the two adults just to see the stage. The performance itself in my opinion was not intended for a 3.5 year old. I think a 7yr old may have appreciated it but our little guy was expecting more! The set and characters were small and at almost $20 a ticket the 45 min show was NOT worth it.

I thought this was a must see for anyone who has a child that is a fan of Eric Carle. It kept my 3 year old daughter entertained the whole time. It was great bc it wasn't too loud either. We loved it!

    Colorful!

by GammyRay on 11/4/13The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

Dragged thru the first two stories. 4-year old granddaughter kept asking, "where is the caterpillar!" I did not know the cloud and chameleon stories were part of the show sho had not prepped her for them. Think the ad should include all three Carle stories.

    So imaginative!

by LLLDTW on 3/28/11Music Hall Center - Detroit

My daughter and I loved the show. I thought it was a great idea to show how the puppets and scenery was worked by the puppet masters after the show was over. Answered a lot of the questions my daughter, who is four, had asked me during the performance. We will definitely come back and see them again!

    Nice, quitet show for toddlers

by LisaTurd on 3/28/11Music Hall Center - Detroit

I took my 4- and 2-year-old daughters to see this show at 11 on a Saturday, and it was a very nice time out. The show was a perfect length -- 60 minutes -- and though it was quiet and slow, it held my girls' attention very well. The characters look just like they do in the books, but it's really special seeing them brought to life with motion and the narration. One of the three stories they told, The Mixed Up Chameleon, was totally new to us. But it became an instant favorite--and we bought the board book at Borders on our way home. The show is put on by just 2 performers and a stage manager from the Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia. I'll be looking for more from them in the future.

    Great kids' show!

by GregRader on 3/3/11Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

The show contained three stories, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", "Little Cloud" and "The Mixed-Up Chameleon". All were very well done, with captivating narration, colorful puppets and artwork true to the style of Mr. Carle. My kids had a great time with it and it was very enjoyable for me as well, to see the works we know so well brought to life in a new and interesting way.

This puppet show was really good! I took my 1 1/2 year old, thinking she might be a tad young for this, but she loved it! The show was geared towards the younger crowd- they actually encouraged the crowd to read along with the story if they knew it. My daughter clapped the entire time! The show itself was very nice, the puppets in the black light looked really cool! Highly recommended for young kids! The show lasted about an hour.

Wonderful puppetry that brings this book to life!

by EggbertsMom on 2/20/11Playhouse SQ - Cleveland

I have seen the Mermaid Theater of NS many times and will continue to seek them out for their amazing work in children's theater. Very Hungry Caterpillar was so wonderful that I encourage everyone to attend. The workmanship of the puppets and the performance was top notch as is the music and narration. At the end, the puppeteers take questions from the audience.
