    Memorial Day Performance

by Mike D on 5/30/23CoolToday Park - North Port

The show was wonderful. Unlike previous years there was a lot of patriotic music. The singing acts were excellent performers and vocalist. The fireworks display topped off a memorable evening.

    Memorial Day weekend highlight

by Dave on 5/30/23CoolToday Park - North Port

We enjoyed a wonderful evening dedicated to honoring Memorial Day. The symphony orchestra, the singing group (Voices of Liberty), and the venue (Atlanta Braves spring training park) provided a great evening for this this event.

    Great music, great venue

by Roger on 5/30/23CoolToday Park - North Port

On a Saturday night we along with friends celebrated Memorial Day with patriotic music from the Venice (FL) Symphony at the ballpark where the Atlanta Braves hold spring training. This annual event features the symphony on second base with a big screen TV in left field showing closeups. What beautiful music on a very nice night honoring the men and women who served and serve our country. Fireworks were the finale.

    Patriotic Pops

by Mari on 5/30/23CoolToday Park - North Port

A magical night! Everything was perfect. The Venice Symphony with Troy Quinn and all the musicians are first class always. The singers from Orlando were exceptional too. The selections were beautiful, the fireworks were amazing, the venue was great. It was emotional at times, which it should be, and the honoring of those whose lives were lost as well as current veterans was very moving. The North Port PD managed the traffic effortlessly. Thank you, VS, and ALL who work tirelessly to present this concert. Bravo!!!

A great performance, loved the patriotic songs and the vocalists were terrific!. The fly by and fireworks were a bonus for a spectacular evening. Last year performance was enjoyable but this one was awesome!

    Venice symphony patriotic pops

by MizT on 6/3/22CoolToday Park - North Port

We enjoyed the symphony and the fireworks but we’re not crazy for Rocapella. We would have liked more patriotic songs from both performers. The worst part of the evening was the traffic getting into cool today park. We were stuck in a 40 minute backup with only a single lane getting in. I don’t know if I’d do that again.

    Tradition

    by M. S. on 6/1/22CoolToday Park - North Port

The Venice Symphony was amazing. Troy Quinn’s energy and enthusiasm filled the stadium with patriotic tunes that brought energy to the crowd. It would have been nice to have some of the more traditional songs that we would have recognized. But Rockapella? Why not patriotic songs that we would recognize and sing along with. Folger’s Coffee commercial? Not for Patriotic Pops.

    Parking

by Jack on 6/1/22CoolToday Park - North Port

Parking. 5,000 people expected. One line of traffic into the parking lot. An hour and 15 minuets to get into the lot. A half hour to get out. The concert was held up so most could get in. Re the concert: This was billed as a Patriotic evening. I expected a traditional "Pops" type of evening. Only 4 or 5 selections were of, in my view, a Patriotic theme. How does "How the West Was Won" or movie themes from the 1920's fit into Patriotic? And a Acapella group (which means without accompaniment) singing Three Dog Night? And with the symphony accompanying. The symphony as music was fine but not the selections for "Patriotic" the venue is terrific, the fireworks very good, but the overall evening was disappointing. Can't imagine going to any event here (including baseball) unless the parking solved.

    Poor planning

by North Port Harry on 5/31/22CoolToday Park - North Port

While the concert gets rave reviews the poor handling of the vehicle entrance and parking made this event a major fail. It was the worst ever. We arrived plenty early as we have always done. But this time the dual left turn lanes off of 41 were at a standstill thru untold numbers of light changes. We opted to go past to the next light at the Public Safety Bldg. In doing that we saw that a single NPPD vehicle was blocking all of those trying to turn left towards the stadium at that first light. We could see that all of the traffic was backed up from the stadium to 41. Making the turn at the Public Safety Bldg did bring us closer but not much. Shortly the line behind us was out of sight. Friend’s in front of us gave us updates but that was all. After having been in the creeping line for well over an hour we made the decision to turn away and no go to the event. Our friends that were in front of us finally made it to the parking at about 8:10 or so. They then needed to get from parking to the park. Thank God a cart came by and picked them up part way there. In the end they made it to their seats well after 8:00 and with the concert already going. They did notice that all but two seats in front of them remained empty thru the whole program. It was not until we gave up and made it back to 41 that we saw enough people working the traffic control at 41. By the time we left at 8:00 there were finally 5 or 6 NPPD officers there directing traffic.

    Well...

by DJ on 5/31/22CoolToday Park - North Port

If you went, you'll understood. The music was good. Beer was good, albeit expensive. In and out of the parking and not having numbers on the rows, terrible experience. We wont be doing this again.

My wife and I could not get in the venue.

by Phil on 5/31/22CoolToday Park - North Port

The parking was free at the stadium but nothing was moving. We already missed half the show and we were still about 3/4 of a mile from the lot and still hardly moving. I will never go back to any shows there. I have been to ballgames and never had a problem.

    A little disappointed.

by Taz on 5/31/22CoolToday Park - North Port

The Venice Symphony was great. I thought more patriotic songs would be performed, but that was OK. We bought the best tickets available. Should have taken the cheap seats. The Symphony was in center field with pretty poor mobile cameras shots throughout the event. Should have taken the cheap seats upstairs with a much better view than row one we had. Could have skipped Rockapella. Nothing patriotic about Almond Joy, NBC, All Rooker, Matt Laurer, etc. Again. WIth the fantastic video on the screen, my wife and I could tell that there were two black guys, one white guy with blond hair and two others. To top it off the traffic situation can only be described by one word. SUCKED. However designed the one lane in and one out should have been fired. No thought that a 6000 plus capacity stadium might need more entrys. We had a good time, but will not go back to any Cool Park events.

GREAT concert, for what I was able to see of it.

by FL resident on 5/31/22CoolToday Park - North Port

The traffic management to get to Cool Today park is more than horrendous. We missed about 45 minutes of the performance, although we gave ourselves time to get to the park 1 hour to 45 minutes early - or so we thought!

    Disappointing

by prp on 5/31/22CoolToday Park - North Port

Traffic control and parking were very poorly handled. We were a mile from the venue 30 minutes before the time the show was to begin and due to backed-up traffic, we missed half the show. I was impressed with the Venice Symphony Orchestra. They are very talented. The show was advertised as a Patriotic Concert. The show included the RockAppella group who did not sing Patriotic Songs. Their voices were good but they sang songs that were not at all related to Memorial Day. Please correct your traffic / parking issues and be honest when you describe your show.

The Venice Symphony and Rockapella were fantastic! Traffic in and out of CoolToday Park is terrible - the roads are inadequate.
