ICCA finals is like 23 karat gold. It's a showcase of highly concentrated and refined talent and effort. The result is a couple hours of musical magic. It's 8 teams of ~16 well-vetted, skillful young people who each devote hundreds of hours creating, rehearsing, and perfecting a 12 minute show with the ultimate goal of mesmerizing any audience.
It's even better than 24 karat gold, because the quirks and imperfections inherent in a cappella live performance are part of what make this show so special (although at this stage of the multi-stage tournament, true imperfections are few and far between). In addition, although the show itself is worth seeing for its consistently top-quality content, it's also a competition. This adds a layer of excitement to an already high-energy experience. Half the fun is knowing you're amongst an ocean of other audience members, most of whom care deeply about a cappella, and many of whom form strong and well-conceived opinions about who should win and why by the time the last note is sung.
This show is big, and it's worth attending for any lover of musical performance.
