What a treat to watch my very own son up on stage at this event! The two MC's were the BEST I have seen/heard. They were so funny and entertaining! They really made the show more eventful. Our kiddos were lucky enough to place in this event so it was a win win. All the groups were amazing and looked great and really brought their A Game. WOW! What talent. What a fabulous event for these High School kids to be a part of.
Great seats, easy check-in, friendly staff, plenty of parking
Loved everything about the event - the location, the acoustics, ease of parking, lots of places to eat. Great event and venue!
It's our 3rd year at the quarterfinals and we are booked for the Semi Finals. We go just cuz we love to see all that talent. So EXCITED!
Everyone should go to one of these performances in their lifetime, especially if you like the Pitch Perfect series. Our whole family really enjoyed it.
Great concert. The eight participant a cappella groups were fantastic! Hard to pick the winners, but the judges were up to the challenge. Good luck to the semi finalists.
This event was fabulous!!! Congrats to Upper Structure's 2nd place win!!
Unless your child is performing and competing I would skip this one!
The Waterloo's and Belltone;s were not Hollywood grade talent but, certainly better than not even getting mentioned at all. This reminded us of a marching band competition where what you enjoy does not mean it is worthy of any Final's recognition. I suppose being in NYC at all was their applause, applause, applause but, we thought they both deserved better. Still, the competition was worth seeing. The ticket price was very steep for the venue and the facilities but, Beacon is not Lincoln, nor is it Carnegie. Pondering 9/23 as I write and will let this all settle in before deciding. The ICCA however is gi-normous and should not forget it's humble beginnings nor those who supported it before there was a Pitch Perfect. All that to say if you are in the Northeast who else deserved to win but, the Noreasters? We came from Texas not because we had someone in the show or because we had a favorite group. We love A Cappella that much.
The event was OK, but don't go in expecting Pitch Perfect...if you do, you'll be disappointed. Also, it's a lonnnnnggggg evening, made even longer by the stylings of the "MCs"...kind of unnecessary.
I've been involved with a cappella music for almost a decade now having performed with multiple groups over the years, including one group who competed in ICCA a few years back. I've also attended multiple ICCA events in various states. This was hands down the best music competition I've ever attended. What made it so great were two primary elements: 1) The talent of the competitors 2)The sound engineers and acoustics of Beacon Theatre While I believe the show could have been just as impressive if the groups were working with a generic sound setup, the structure of the Beacon Theatre along with the talented sound crew of the event elevated the entire event, causing the audience to be blown away by each performance. There is no better event that showcases music in its rawest and most creative form. Every music aficionado should attend this event at least once in their life.
The competition was fabulous. The students are beyond talented. The Beacon is...well...a beacon. It is beautiful and intimate. My 10-year-old and i loved every minute of it. We'll be back next year!
This was a wonderful event- lots of talent and lots of passion. All of the groups were incredibly talented. Would absolutely go again.
By mistake I bought tickets to the Highschool championship instead of the college one but we don't feel sorry that this happened. It was great fun to see those kids perform at The town hall. They have amazing talent! I hope to see them in the future as singers/performers.
Loved watching my daughter perform on that stage. I was disappointed in the staff of Town Hall. First, we were there for an hour or more for practice/sound check. There were a few bathrooms, but the staff only kept 1 unlocked. We're at your event and should be able to use restrooms... it's not an easy task in my. Also, before the show started the announcement was made that people would not be able to enter during a set.. when our group took the stage, staff let a group of 5 in. Then that had them move into row T right in front of us while I was taking photos and another parent was recording their set on Facebook Live. They stood there, in front of us until there was a pause in the set then they walked to their seats further down in front. I was very disappointed with the staff for allowing this as I paid $94.00 for my ticket and during my child's 12 minutes on stage, this happened.
Start earlier in the evening so folks can get out before 11.. Final group while waiting for judges was terrible. Lots of complaining people. Perhaps a venue where the home team doesn't have the advantage. Looked very political. May not have been, but for those who travel from outside the state it looked that way.
Had a great time. Definitely will go again! It was very exciting to watch all of the college groups sing. My family had a competition to pick the winners. Great for your entire family
This was my first experience at an A Cappella performance of any kind and it was awesome!!! The students were so good and you could tell how much work had gone in to preparing for the competition. I am now looking forward to the semifinals in Athens, GA in a month!! We also enjoyed the Carolina Theatre. The sound was good and the seats comfortable. Plenty of concessions from which to choose!
Had a great time watching and experiencing the ICCA's 10 very talented groups from this area compete. They put on a wonderful show and the audience was just as responsive to their efforts. Wish they all could have moved on in the competition.
