"A sure-fire hit," says the British Comedy Guide. Geek Native declares, "Four stars of fun!" and Theatre Weekly calls it "Hugely Entertaining...guaranteed a good time." BroadwayWorld raved "Five stars! This show has it all! Utterly excellent and brilliantly put together." It's the most fun you will have in the theatre this year!

Embark on a journey that might involve dungeons, might involve dragons, and is guaranteed to be unlike anything you've ever experienced. It's a unique, two-hour adventure that's never the same quest twice. Dive into this raucous comedic explosion full of riddles, puzzles, combat and more -- the story's in your hands and YOU must decide our heroes' fate. Laugh along and choose between over thirty playable characters as they explore dozens of different rooms and race toward an incredible, one-of-a-kind ending based on your actions and decisions. At THE TWENTY-SIDED TAVERN, you are not merely an audience member; you are an adventurer ready to change the fate of the world around you, and the story will never be the same again.

    We had a great time!

by Marcella P. on 1/10/23Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The show was really fun! The players on stage did a great job with audience engagement, building excitement, and playing out the story. I'm not totally convinced it's audience controlled - is the voting fixed? Are the games rigged? Did they even use the words we put in the box?? Not sure - but either way we had a blast and really enjoyed the experience!

    What we need

by Wolvclaws aka Steve aka Ryan on 1/9/23Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This is the show we need right now even if we don’t pick cool enough otherworldly names for the characters of the show. Cool technology, good storytelling, flat out fun. Second time seeing show and I would go again

    Funny

If you're a nerd, you will enjoy it. If you are not, you will be one of these people leaving a bad review, because you did not understand it.

A Great Time was had by all!

by TMak on 1/4/23Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

A cross between D&D and Jackbox masquerading as an improv show. What more could you require? If you get there early, you can add nouns and adjectives to the hopper to conjure up the finale's Big Bad. *Make sure your phone is charged as you will be using it to participate in the Adventure!* The performers were fantastic, the atmosphere was casual and fun (as a Tavern should be!), and ride share pickup/dropoff was a breeze.

The most fun I've had in the theatre in a long time

by Mary T on 1/2/23Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Everything about this show was awesome, honestly if it was a bit easier for us to get to we'd probably go back before it closes. This is the perfect show for any nerds who also enjoy improv comedy, the DnD references were top notch and the chance to participate as the audience was so cool. I literally cannot say enough good things about this show.

    Gamer’s Delight

by LB on 1/2/23Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We laughed out loud so much it hurt during the Twenty-Sided Tavern! Our family loves games and theater so this was a perfect combination. The story was engaging - literally as we all loved using our phones to cast votes and help the story evolve. The actors seemed to be having as much fun as the audience and if felt like a room full of friends.

    OK

by cBoS on 12/31/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Funny, loved the Chicago references. High energy. Didn't get all the fun though, because I am not a gamer like the rest of the audience who seemed to really enjoy it.

    Just awful. Shallow, boring, repetitive.

by Ed P. on 12/31/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Literally the worst thing I've ever seen on stage. The characters were ridiculous, like something dreamed up by improv students. Too much time was taken up watching dice rolling. The adventure story was uninteresting and not worth following. Just all around terrible.

    Excellent show/Cozy theater

by Suson Mama on 12/27/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I knew the show would be funny but it far exceeded our expectations. I invited my adult sons who are into RPG and they loved it even more. The theater was, clean and small giving the audience a intimate connection with the play. In addition, the ticket price was reasonable which is why we could afford it.

    Not theater

by Beddy on 12/27/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

If you are an avid theater goer or never played D & D, skip this production. It's basically improv with video.

    What a great time!

by ANott89 on 12/21/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I went to see the 20 sided tavern with my best friend and we had a blast watching and playing along with the story. The characters are all really nice and the whole atmosphere was just fun and really draws you in. I'm trying to clear my schedule so I can see it again with my family before the run ends.

Loved it!Dont pay attention to the non nerd reviews.

    by Nazelf on 12/20/22

Absolutely loved the show, so funny and loved the interactions with the audience. You get exactly what you read in the descriptions, so for those not happy with it clearly did not pay attention. Nat 1 on intelligence. Definitely recommend for a good time of laughter.

    Awesome show

by George H on 12/18/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The premise was fun and unique, but without a great group of performers, it still could have been boring. This entire crew blew the doors off the place, we had an amazing time, I'm even considering coming back for another performance since the show is different each time!

by Smerfy on 12/13/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We brought a party of 10 people ages 12 to 82 and not one of us enjoyed the show. Unless dungeons and dragons in your thing don’t bother. We did not find the cast or content funny. It was confusing and difficult to follow. Also, make sure you have a full charge on your phone sans sign into the WiFi at the venue, otherwise you won’t be able to get into the voting. We left 1/2 way though the show. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Live Theatre! Improv! Mages Fighters and Rogues!

    by K. P. on 12/12/22

Our whole family loved every minute and saw it twice while in Chicago for 4 days. Don’t be misled; you don’t just watch folks play an epic RPG campaign, you play too!! Fantastic concept, expert level execution, hilarious improv comedy. We definitely rolled a 20 with this show.
