Enjoyable Through the Fog of Nostalgia
by Whiny McGee on 5/18/19The Wilbur - BostonI was going to give the show a pass until I found out that they would be performing The Completion Backward Principle in its entirety, which is one of my favorite albums, so I couldn't resist going. The band (with Fee Waybill still on vocals and three of the original members) did a great job of recapturing some of the magic, but there's no doubt that many decades have passed which lent an air of melancholy to the proceedings. Along with The Completion Backward Principle, the band played other hits and a couple of good deep tracks. The audience was okay - we're all old now, so probably not as lively as in our heyday, though there was one guy jumping around until he tripped and fell, which was a bit distracting (though not as distracting as the loud woman at the table next to me). It was a nice night, but probably the last time I'll catch them. A fond farewell, as it were.
