Great Show, But No Covid Protocols

by Tommy Rock on 11/1/21Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

The Tubes' performance was absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately, it was hard to feel safe in a packed room with absolutely nobody wearing a mask. Ludlow Garage is a fantastic venue with great seating and sound system. Sadly, it was hard to fully enjoy the show because the club decided to forgo safety protocols for Covid. There's still a pandemic raging, folks.

The Tubes at Ludlow Garage Cincinnati

by A fan of the band and the venue on 10/31/21Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

My wife and I saw The Tubes almost 20 years ago at a tattoo convention in Louisville, and it was one of the best shows we have ever seen. We always said if they were anywhere near us again, we would go. When I heard the band was going to tour, I checked dates and saw a show at Ludlow Garage (80 miles away and we were familiar with the venue), I said "We're there!" My wife ultimately couldn't go, but my '80's - loving daughter (a no-show 20 years ago - she always regretted it) accompanied me this time. WOW! From banter between songs to costume changes, accompanied by great musicians, Fee and co. still put on a tremendous show. The principals are not young men any more, but you'd never know it from their performance. You can still see the mischief in Fee Waybill's eyes as he delivers the goods, and the band only encourages his antics on stage. A smaller venue, Ludlow was a great place to see them too. Again, a tremendous show. Come back, guys, we'll be there!

    The Total Rocking Principle

by Paul in KY on 10/31/21Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

Saw The Tubes at Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati, OH one rainy October evening. Was my first time to this venue. A combo bar/restaurant with a small theater in basement. Nice venue, although in the Post-COVIDian, they had no observed COVID protocols beyond a few bottles of hand sanitizer. That said, the show was great! The theater is very intimate (approx 300 seating) and all seats will have a fine view of the talent. As the great band they are, The Tubes started their set off by playing (both sides) in order all songs from their mighty The Completion Backward Principle album. 2 original members remain, Wix and the lead guitarist. The rest of band was really good, especially the drummer, who pounded out all the hits with great abandon. All members looked to be having a great time up there. Wix delivered some excellent & funny banter between songs. Left after 1 song after they had completed the album, as I had a 100 mile drive home in the rain. Place was packed when I left. Sure glad I got to see one of my favourite bands from my youth!

    Fantastic show!

by Scott on 10/31/21Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

The Tubes put on a wonderful show to an enthusiastic crowd at the Ludlow Garage on October 28. The five piece band, including founding members Fee Waybill and Roger Steen, along with three newer members on bass, drums and keyboards, put out a tight, full wall of sound that recreated The Completion Backward Principle flawlessly. The audience was also treated to amazing renditions of four songs from The Tubes’ debut album. As always, the irrepressible Fee stole the show, with great vocals, witty banter, and multiple outrageous personas and costume changes. After the show the band graciously met with fans to say hello, sign autographs and pose for selfies. Overall, a great experience at a really nice venue!

Sadly, both my husband are extremely disappointed.

by Ny4evr on 8/24/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

I have been a Tubes fan since I watched "She's a Beauty" on MTV back in 1983. I have seen them three times here in Arizona at The Foundry in 2011, at the Talking Stick in 2013 and then again at The Talking Stick last Saturday. My husband has seen them perform 7 times. After two years of no concerts due to the Covid Pandemic, we were sooooo excited to see them perform again. Sadly, we along with many others in the audience sat there and were just amazed and how badly they sounded. I wish we could have blamed it on the equipment but unfortunately, Fee sounded horrible, you could hear clearly how hard he was straining to try and reach notes that were just now out of his reach and it just sounded awful. I so wish we had ended seeing them live on the last concert back in 2013 when they still sounded great.

    Way cool

by Big Al on 8/24/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Great music, exciting show like you would expect with Fee and the band, but I was very appreciative of the effort all of the band made to make sure the experience was interactive and a great time to be had by all. The Tubes play their hits but the whole experience is a cult classic like Rocky Horror Picture Show is to the big screen. Well done, super fun.

    Still got it.

by Mark C on 8/24/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Fee Waybill still does many costume changes and can still sing! The band was killer. We all seemed to love them.

The Tubes - Conquering the World!

by Maryrockstar on 8/24/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

The Tubes gave everything they had at their show on Saturday night! For 2+ hours we were immersed in music, fun, and a great escape from the now. Fee sounded phenomenal and was the showman and the band was tight and played just as I remembered them 39 years ago. They played the entire Completion Backward Principle, including all of the commentary. Then it was onto classics, with Fee asQuay on “White Punks on Dope,” and “I Want It All Now.” Both of those songs had heavy audience participation. If you want to hear great music, have fun, and forget the world, go see them!!!!!

    I bit too loud.

by fixnkev on 8/24/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

I do like loud music, but it has to sound good. I was sitting in back corner and the acoustics was terrible. All they needed to do was turn the volume down a bit and it probably would have been fine.

    by r. n. on 5/20/19The Wilbur - Boston

Those boys not only still sound great but they gave you a great stage show, played for a couple of hours and did a meet and greet after the show. Thank you gentlemen for an awesome show and taking me back to my younger days

Good sound, good seats, good performance - GREAT TIME

    by G. M. on 5/18/19The Wilbur - Boston

These guys never fail to deliver, and the only time I've not enjoyed them has been when the venue's acoustics or the sound system installation was deficient. Neither of those conditions apply to the Wilbur. Completion Backward Principle is in my top 3 Tubes LPs of all time. I was surprised to note that some of the backing vocals were omitted in this performance, and my ears wanted to hear them, however the harmonies that were performed were stronger as a result, so I think it was a good move. These guys ain't gettin' any younger, and those high parts are almost out-of-reach. So, doing a few less of them makes the ones the _DO_ do stronger and tighter. (hehheh, he said do do). Prairie was, as usual, an animal on the drums, even though he'd been touring with Todd Rundgren for a month, until just two days before. I do NOT know how he does it!

    Fun. Nostalgic. Still hard core.

    by C. S. on 5/18/19The Wilbur - Boston

Although Fee”s voice no longer goes everywhere he wants it to, the edge and showmanship are still alive and well. And he and the band really seemed to be reliving their younger years and having a blast. Still as hard core as I remember them, with some incredible guitar and drum work. Definitely a true punk show in the old school sense. And White Punks on Dope is still as powerful an anthem as it was 40 years ago.
