Not at all worth the money. Food snack lines were insane, basically a brew fest
The tasting was too crowded and no rhyme or reason to set up. Not enough food stations. The chef dine around was phenomenal as usual. Next year will only do this one
I have been going to the bourbon and food tastings with family and friends, held on the Friday of wine fest for at least 8 years with the exception of 2021. Previous years had changes in formats, but would have a significant selection of food to try and multiple different bars with various whiskeys collected at each bar. This year was very sparse in comparison. There were two bars with 4 whiskeys each, and no labeling explaining the whiskey for an informed choice. There were 3 food stations, one was a rib with 2 different sauces, another was a cookie platter and the 3rd was absolutely mobbed, with two types of burger and a marinated meat on toast (which was the best thing there) . While the food was quite good, the excessive lines and lack of diversity in drink and food compared to previous years was highly disappointing, especially after a price increase. A lack of descriptions of the whiskey can be considered pragmatic since someone could easily try them all, due to the lack of choice this year. In addition, while the band seemed quite comptent, the volume was a little too loud for the amount of people in the room. It gave the impression that the venue was expecting more people than attended, and the event was an afterthought compared to the other events. Considering the decline in selection and increase in price, I would not recommend this event to others in the future. It is obvious the event is of lower priority.
I remember this even being substantially less costly. When all is said and done the Wine Fest was overpriced for the quality of the wines offerred. I also did the Sake pairing event at Tao. Also overpriced, but the venue was very loud, couldnt hear the hostess and the event was a little disorganized. The tables were a little crowded and they over booked our timeslot needing to squeeze two more folks in. Wouldnt do it again.
I paid 110 dollars for 2 hours on the opening night. IT was named a wine and "FOOD" fest. It was very disappointing since most of the vendors, only 5 however, 3 out of 5 were charging extra money for their food services. This is ridiculous after the amount of money that I spent. NEVER AGAIN
Attended the Top shelf liquor tasting and Cigar event at Clay Pipe. Amazing selections of both beverages and cigars, but COULD have been a bit more "formal". Missing the element of stepping attendees through what they were tasting, history of products, etc.
Price of ticket did not meet expectation . Cigar was not top quality and cognac was ok. Would not come back next year
We had 5 tickets ($125 each) to the World of Whiskey tasting and 3 in our group arrived at 730pm and 2 at 8pm. By the time we arrived 2 of the 4 food booths had already closed and 1 of the 4 Whiskey stations was already out of stock on its selection. The event was clearly oversold and supplies were not adjusted to accommodate. From a cost and customer experience standpoint, it is unacceptable to advertise an event as 6pm to 9pm and still charge full price for tickets when there is not enough supplies for a full experience (two tickets of which were day of event upcharge). Gave Mohegan Sun two months to make up for the error and the best they could do was a $25 discount on one ticket for another event they are hosting. If you attend Mohegan events hope you get lucky with no issues because the organization makes it your problem not theirs when they happen.
Food was mediocre, space was nice, but not large enough to handle number of guests, hosts demonstrations not very exciting. Big disappointment. Was my first time attending Sun Wine Food Festival, will not return.
Food was amazing !! R tree he demonstrations had my chef husband mesmerized
Great Food, lots of whiskey and great company! My family went for a Christmas/ Birthday celebration. We had a great time the only thing we wish they had was a whiskey station with mixed Drinks. But either way we’ll be sure to hit another Food and Wine Fest event next year!
The event was so unorganized that it wasn’t worth the money. There were so many people there who didn’t have tickets but showed up and pushed to the front. We were unable to even get the included drinks because two people were making drinks for the entire lounge while also entertaining everyone.
Had a great time at this intimate dinner. Food and wine paired wonderfully. Couldn’t finish my last course (the best), or my dessert! I asked if I could take them, but was told no….sad after what we paid for the meal.
Overall we had a great time The line to get in was very long, would be more enjoyable to have more small tastes of food in between the beverages. Matunik oyster bar and the mariner had great appetizers though. We will be back next year.
It was a fun morning. Exciting to see the top notch judges that we watch regularly the Food Network at Brunch. Brunch itself was pretty good, but the staff cleared the food away before noon, leaving only one table with real food and a dessert bar, although brunch itself was scheduled until 1:00. Could have had more information about the competitors, we still don't know who the male chef from Fairfield was, some information on the screen would have been helpful since it was only announced once in a room with 1000 people talking. Good variety of brunch appropriate drinks throughout the event, and plenty or water, too, at the self service bars, which is always appreciated.
The 'show' aspect of it is great, the celebrity chef's were very entertaining and that part was the highlight. The two issues we kinda had were; the food on the buffet was pretty good (not great) but it wasn't hot. In fact, several of the 'hot' items were legit cold. Also they advertise complimentary cocktails, which is a nice touch, but per CT state law, they can't start serving alcohol until 11am, yet the brunch begins at 10am, and the 'show' aspect of the event started at about 11. So to get a drink; cocktail, mimosa, bloody mary- at 11am, you'd have to miss a good portion of the show to go stand in the sizable line at the bar....so we did not. We opted to wait until after the show (which really only lasted maybe 45min start to finish), problem with that was once the show ended, 90% of the room emptied out and they began breaking down. By 12:15, there was maybe a a little over a dozen or so people left, it was weird. To me, the should wait to start the event until 11a, and the show portion should be longer- it should last at least 90min of the 3hr event in my opinion, especially for nearly $100 a ticket, because honestly the food alone wasn't any better than what is on the casino buffet
Good time. Loved the atmosphere. Next year should offer more food. I thought the price of the ticket included food.
After the LONG line to get into the event, even with tickets in-hand, I was happy with the amount of vendors available to sample wine, hard seltzers, beers, etc. The only down-side to attending the preview, was having to purchase additional tickets inside the event for food.
I was very excited to go to this event. The tastings were acceptable, you had many choices. They were a little skimpy on the pour. I wouldn’t call it a food fest seeing you had to purchase any food you would like to try. This was not explained on the advertisement.
The wine and spirits were terrific. I was a bit disappointed with the Chef demos because viewing could have been improved. The overhead cameras needed to be on throughout the demo so that the audience could see what was being done. I also misunderstood about the tasting/sampling. I expected to be able to sample what the chefs were preparing. I did not know beforehand that tickets had to be purchased for food. More upfront details /instructions need to be provided.
