THE STROKES IN CONCERT:

American rockers the Strokes have been wowing audiences with their infectious hooks and post-punk influenced sound ever since breaking out in 2001 with Is This It. At the group's acclaimed live shows frontman Julian Casablancas showcases his distinct vocals on favorites like "Reptilia" and "Last Nite" while his bandmates keep pace with edgy guitar riffs, thumping basslines, and pounding drum patterns. With a decade-spanning collection of popular anthems at the ready, the Strokes always have fans singing along to their energetic sets on their can't-miss tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

New York City-based indie act the Strokes formed in 1998 and began playing local shows at popular venues in the area. They earned attention from major label execs after gaining widespread popularity for their intense live shows and with the release of their 2001 EP The Modern Age. They released their debut full-length album Is This It that same year, receiving universal acclaim from critics and fans and landing on Rolling Stone's Top 10 Debuts of All Time list. The five-piece has has continued to rule the charts with four more Top 10 albums over the course of the last decade, earning numerous awards and accolades in the process. They've become one of the most iconic rock acts of the era thanks to their collection of indie jams, and fans can experience their first-rate showmanship on full display every time they tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"When The Strokes came out, everything was just so perfect. Julian Casablancas is literally the best frontman ever. He went into the audience twice! Also, Fab, Nick, Nikolai, and Albert are so talented."

"It was really good. They sound just like they do on the albums, and often times songs sound even better. Even "You're So Right" sounded great. They weren't stiff or boring, they were far from it."

"This show was absolutely amazing! One of the best -- if not the best -- concerts I've ever seen. The Strokes were fantastic! "

this concert was good. I am not sure if it was the fact that the arena was too large or if they were just out of shape, but it just didn't compare to the previous times I've seen them... something was missing....

  • Great show

by NDeeBrooklyn on 4/4/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Absolutely fabulous show, even though I had real bad seats. The only down side was that The Strokes didn't come on for an encore, not even one song! That was really disappointing. But, they're true rock stars and give a real tight performance -- it almost sounds like their recordings! Very fun.

Amazing concert. Julian's voice was better than ever. The band was tight. The energy from the audience was crazy.

  • THE STROKES PLAYED BETTER THAN MY CAT-- MEOWWW!!!!

by Philmixalot on 4/4/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The sound was not evenly balanced with the guitars. The band did not come back on stage for an encore so that was disappointing. Strokes you can do better than that. Play a cover for all I care.!! Their songs are short like the Beatles would do, so a lot was played!

  • Stokes = Amazing

by JackieJersey35 on 4/4/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The Strokes show was one of the best I have ever seen! If you have a chance to go to a different show, do it!

  • by Anonymous on 4/4/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

the strokes were amazing. they played all their best songs and sounded great. julian casablancas lacks crowd connectivity so his ramblings to the crowd were a bit awkward - only complaint.

  • The Strokes own New York

by eunice02 on 4/4/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I thought I was going to die in the pit. Place went crazy the whole night. Every song sounded perfect, and who says the strokes don't have any energy on stage?

  • by Nan5 on 4/4/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The Strokes put on an awesome show. This was my fifth time seeing them and it was one of the best. They were all pumped up and looked genuinely happy and excited to be on stage. Julian was loving the crowd and jumped into the pit twice - during "Juicebox" and during the closer, "Take It Or Leave It." Even Nikolai was head banging and got up on the drum stage with Fab to jam out. The setlist was perfect, although I wish they'd played 12:51, but regardless all of the new songs sounded great live. Elvis Costello surprise set was pretty cool, as was when he came out and played during "Taken For a Fool," though his mics were a little off.

  • unbelievable

by Plessmann on 4/4/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Devendra was sooo cool. And before the strokes got on stage there was a surprise 4 songs concert by Elvis Costello. I couldn't believe my life. Then the strokes rocked so so hard. It was THE CONCERT OF THE YEAR.

Julian Casablancas did everything right in this concert. What an amazing stage presence. Not one flat note. I can't believe I witnessed this amazing band in this amazing venue. Thank you for playing all your old hits. This experience was unforgettable.

  • by Anonymous on 4/3/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The Strokes were amazing. They sound just as amazing live as on the album. It was the greatest night of my life. Good job Julian Casablancas. You own.

  • The Strokes MSG 4/1

by queenofbabble on 4/3/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The show was absolutely incredible! The five opening songs would have been a sole set in and of themselves. I was so jealous when Julian jumped into the pit...twice! And when he walked over to his "weak side" and sang in the crowd. I wish I wasn't caged in behind the GA Pit section. :( All in all, The Strokes put on a PHENOMENAL show. I'd see every one of their shows if I could.

One of the best concerts in a venue as large as Madison Square Garden that I have ever been to.

  • by littleredcolette on 4/3/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Show made my head explode. Expected nothing less. Elvis Costello was a guest and it was pretty great. I would see them again in a heartbeat.

  • The Boys are Back!

by Anonymous on 4/3/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was with out a doubt the best show I've ever seen. They were all in great form, sounded AMAZING. Julian was chatting up the audience, which was great, and even joining the crowd during two songs. To make the night even more amazing, a surprise opener: Elvis Costello, and to add more awesome, he joined them on stage to sing and play guitar during Taken for a Fool. This is a night I will NEVER forget!

  • Ace show!!
