About

THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT IN CONCERT:

The String Cheese Incident may be America's quintessential jam band, effortlessly traversing genres and styles to create a truly sweeping live experience that incorporates elements of bluegrass, electronica, and psychedelia into their rock-based sound. Intuitively playing off each other, the band's talented roster of musicians improvise freely atop a full-throttle rhythm section that consistently brings fans to their feet for a dance in the aisles. With Song in My Head — their first studio album in nine years — due out in 2014, the band are sure to be sharper than ever on their tour dates in support of the release.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Named after a food fight that heavily featured cheese, the String Cheese Incident kicked off in Colorado in 1993, self-releasing their early bluegrass-influenced albums and building a regional following with their extended live shows. In 2001, the band debuted a more rock-oriented sound with third album Outside Inside, broadening their fanbase and touring extensively throughout the US. 2003's Untying the Not further expanded the band's repertoire of styles with its inclusion of electronic and trance elements, paving the way for the continued sonic development that has characterized their subsequent releases.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The Cheese flowed smoothly from tune to tune, jamming effortlessly. As the sun started to set they cranked up the energy and the place was rocking. Dancing in the aisles abounded."

"These guys are extraordinarily talented performers and musicians, and the audience was the most fun, tolerant, and colorful group of people I've ever seen at a concert."

"Amazing musician's putting out amazing energy! Great blend of blue-grass style tunes that would repeatedly crescendo into amazing high energy jam sessions."

    Excellent!!!

    by Dylan on 8/6/23

It was such a privilege to be able to see String Cheese Incident live. They're an incrediblely talented band and they genuinely seem to have fun and enjoy playing music for their fans. It was a bummer the lightning and hail cut it short. But I'll definitely be going to more shows in future. Thanks guys!

    So close to perfection

    by JO on 8/6/23

The band was fantastic. The venue was great for the band. The vibe from the crowd was perfect. The first set was great, everyone was dancing and grooving. Comfortable 30 minute intermission. And then about 30 minutes into the second set, a giant thunder had came through with lightning causing the show to stop and eventually be canceled. I cannot fault anybody for the weather, it does what it does. It’s just frustrating that it happened in the middle of what was beginning to be a wonderful set. I hope they return soon because it was a special evening up until the point when it wasn’t.

    Experience Yet To Experience

    by A. J. on 3/8/23

Went to my first cheese show in 2001 in a little auditorium in Athens Ga and from there I was hooked!! I’ve seen them at Bonnaroo, and the first year 2002 the night show with Keller Williams was insane!! Multiple times at the incredible fox theater in ATL, as well as couple consecutive July 4 runs at chastaine park, and 420 fest with special guest little jimmy Hendrix’s. I have experienced some amazing shows in some incredible venues, but what I haven’t yet to experience is Cheese in Charleston, SC! I’ve been in Charleston for 5 years now and have seen Panic, Mule, Moe., Robert Randolph, to name a few, multiple times come through, but still no cheese. Where’s the love for Charleston? Please bring that funky Cheese to the Holy City!!!

    Jammin at Red Rocks

    by WeReach on 1/15/23

My first show at Red Rocks, went to the Friday night concert of the 3 show weekend last summer. Great bluegrass opening act, then SCI rocked the house with a lively home state crowd. We met some cool people, a guy named SlinkyJosh (check him out on YouTube) was right in front of us doing crazy slinky tricks…too funny! Everyone was up and dancing, the sound was tight and light show looked bad ass. Red Rocks didn’t disappoint, it’s the best outdoor venue I’ve been to so far, with Bethel Wood’s NY a close second.

Another fantastic performance by String Cheese at Wilmington

by Mary on 4/30/22Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - Wilmington

We had tickets for Tuesday night. Music was great for the first hour and then it was shut down due to weather. String Cheese honored our tickets for their second show on Wednesday and we were so lucky to be able to come back. The band played for three hours. It was fantastic. Just a fabulous jam band.

by Dee Eddie on 4/30/22Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - Wilmington

The barefoot boys continue to demonstrate why I travel across the country to enjoy their performances! Thank you so much for the dance therapy. You SIX fellas really preserve my being on a spiritual, emotional & metaphysical level. We appreciate the beautiful outlet in which we are able to express ourselves.

by G on 4/29/22Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - Wilmington

The band was great, the venue, perfect, customer service was great, even though we got rained out, second set, the first night. 10$ for a can of terrible water, ridiculous.

by Linda on 4/29/22Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - Wilmington

This group didnt leave anything on the table except when the storms called the show and we all had to leave early. I felt bad for those who didnt have tickets for both nights. The band reallly tried to make up for it.

Great show that was long overdue and they delivered!

by Dave on 4/24/22Ting Pavilion - Charlottesville

SCI was on fire and put on an unbelievable performance! Looking forward to seeing them again soon. Ting Pavilion is a great location for a show. Small enough to keep things intimate but large enough to spread out and not feel crammed in like sardines. Will comeback to this venue for shows in the future.

    Big Head Todd/String Cheese Incident

    by Jim D on 8/10/21Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Fantastic evening at The Greek in Berkeley! The entry process was so smooth and the Clear app process couldn't be simpler. The vaccination or negative test requirement (48 hours change is great) for attendance is greatly appreciated. It allowed for a great environment to enjoy the show. Also, the venue is fantastic and the music was excellent!
