    Simply Amazing!

by RaeBabe22 on 4/18/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Everything about this experience was fantastic! We were concerned that knowing this story so well would make it a little boring, but that was far from the truth! The staging, music, cast — everything was spectacular!

    Brought me back to childhood.

by RogerDodger on 4/17/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Brought me back to the first time i saw the movie in the 1960s. The venue is awesome, Maria was superb. The Children were realistic. And the sits were simple and effective. Loved it!

    Great Show

by Musicang on 4/17/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The show was great. I was, however, disappointed that we were not let into the Fox Theater until moments before the show was actually starting. I am disabled (use a wheelchair) and cannot shove my way through the crowds, therefore, my son and I missed the first two numbers. I do not understand how this is not distracting to the cast to have people filing in as the show is beginning. I know the theater is small, but this seemed unreasonable to me.

    Would not recommend

by SOUND OFF ON SOUND OF MUSIC on 4/17/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

While nothing could compare to the movie with the original actors and beautiful scenery, this musical had much to be desired. Personally I didn't care for the adaptation from the script. I didn't particularly feel connected to any of them. The baroness in the movie was unlikeable, in the play I thought she would be a good stepmom! The wedding scene was so iconic, in the play they basically skipped down the aisle... could never recommend for various reasons. While I did not like the scrip, the singers did a beautiful job and the kids were great. Most moving movement of the entire production was Edelweiss at the end.

    The Sound of Music

by Terry1105 on 4/16/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The cast and crew did an excellent job overall. The kids and their little imperfectly beautiful voices were a delight. Maria and the Captain along with the Mother of the Abbey were tremendous. Max was a hoot!

    STUPENDOUS

by EARL THE PEARL on 4/16/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

From beginning to end this show was just spectacular. Such a great job of "blending" so many details from the movie into a live musical. My wife and I were truly astounded.

    Pleasant Surprise

by B. Cool on 4/16/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I will be honest. I was not looking forward to going to this event with my wife. I will admit... I was wrong! The play was fantastic and the Fox Theater was beautiful as usual!

    The Sound of Music

by J-Ma on 4/16/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

So the production was excellent and the set design was amazing—so clever. One thing I didn’t like were some of the children’s voices. It was as if they were intentionally trying to sound babyish and it was really tough to listen to. And I’m just not a fan of shows at the Fox Theater. The sound engineer consistently missed cues when minor characters spoke. Several times the audience didn’t hear the first lines of what was said. This was really distracting and kind of annoying. I expect more when paying a lot of money to see a show.

    A few changes from movie

by Scoop on 4/16/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Singing was great. The Mother nun stole the show a little. They will sing all songs but they will be out of order and can be distracting. Spoiler for show: Like favorite things is sang with nun at beginning and not with kids at night? Or Doe Re Mi is sang when she first get to house, not running or on hills. But with a play you have to expect some changes.

    Great show

by Babyback on 4/16/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I went with my wife and 9 year old daughter. We all enjoyed the show. The actress who played Maria and the actress who played the head Nun both had beautiful voices. We highly recommend the play to anyone who is a fan of the movie, they won’t be disappointed.
