Thom ,Jonny & Tom Skinner ..The Smile An evening of pure musicianship
They sounded perfect and Thom interacted with the crowd enough to make this one of the best concerts I’ve been to.
Being a decades long Radiohead fan this show was an exceptional experience. It was a superb musical and show experience. Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood are masters of their art. I was alap impressed by the drummers exceptional technique and abilities. This was a show to remember for the rest of my life.
The Smile rocked. But I'm not a fan of WAMU Theater as a musical venue. If you're standing in the general admission area, it's impossible to see the stage. Make the stage higher so everyone can see? Or slant the standing area floor?
I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality of the venue. The show blew me away! It was a treat to see Thom, Jonny and Tom up close and personal. I was excited to hear so many new tracks, and I'm looking forward to their next album.
The way they setup the beer garden is absurd and this setup is just bad period!
The music was awesome, the energy incredible, I loved how they performed new songs not yet released, but more than anything it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Thom and Johnny up close. The show was general admission, so no matter how much money you had to spend, you could get a good seat. We got there 3 hours ahead of time, got to see Thom 6 feet away. 100% worth it.
The Smile sounded amazing, and it was very cool to see members of Radiohead playing in the little WAMU Theater instead of an Arena. Tickets were easy to get, electronic ticket worked, and it was easy to get into the venue.
This was an unbelievable experience. An insane amount of talent. These guys are absolute musical geniuses.
The band was amazing and to be honest because of the band it’s still a 5 star show but the venue is weird and the layout and lighting and everything just felt weird Like I was at a convention that the smile happened to be playing at Also the lack of information about the venue prior to the show was little or none
I don't think I'm going to attend WAMU again if there are GA (General Audience) tickets without assigned seating. The stage is set too low at WAMU, so if you're standing on the floor (and you're not over 6 feet tall), you're just going to be looking at shoulders and backs of heads. It's pretty frustrating. I suppose I could have waited in line, ran to the single stand of bleachers at the back of the space and tried to scrabble for a seat, but that's really your only alternative. Otherwise, The Smile put on a great performance.
We had GA tickets. It was never clear if that was just for floor or we could get seats. We spent our time on the floor. I couldn’t see anything. I’m 5’2”. The crowd was pretty unforgiving and didn’t move for us- even when we went out to the bathroom during a song. The sound felt like we were in a warehouse. The band itself is pretty experimental in sound - It was the wrong venue for that experimental show.
The band was great! The Orpheum sound system was up to the task. Thom York was animated and engaged with us (the audience). Couldn't ask for better!
The best concert ever! I a Huge Thom Yorke, Radiohead, & Atoms for Peace fan … (whatever Thom yorke is doing at the present moment kind of fan ) so this did not disappoint! Just the greatest talent put together in one beautiful evening to delight my 5 senses and waking up my 6th sense ! Perfectly in tune again! I could spend all of eternity listening to these guys! Absolutely the best! So in love❤️
The venue, The Masonic Temple in Detroit, was great. The crowd was very good, and The Smile was perfect. Thank you
This concert had me in another dimension. My RH boys never fail to deliver, great concert. Also this venue is my fave so that was a bonus.
Has been a lifelong dream of mine to see radiohead live. seeing the magic between thom and jonny was truly jaw dropping, and had me speechless the entire show. Awesome set list, amazing sounds and voices, best concert I have seen to date and I’ve been to 22 this year alone. highly recommend
Really fantastic evening seeing the Smile! I saw them twice earlier in the year when I was in the UK and really enjoyed the shows there, but this show just felt so much tighter and so very alive and fun. Go on the lads. It's been a couple weeks now and thinking about the show still brings a little grin to my face. I'll also note that I used to be lukewarm on the Anthem as a venue, but I've seen two shows recently from their super excellent seats and I'm now all over it. Great view (as a very short person, this is huge for me, as if I were on the floor I'd need to start queueing something like five business days in advance), super comfortable, and incredibly easy access and egress—none of that awful feeling of being trapped that you often get as a very short person on the floor. The acoustics at the Anthem are also easily the best of the three venues where I saw the Smile this year, which was a real treat. All in all, lovely Thanksgiving with the Smile. Thank you for passing through, boys—please come again!
Absolutely amazing show! I only wish they set up the stage differently though, and not have Thom Yorke behind a speaker. Robert Stillman was an amazing open act as well.
