About

The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most influential alt-rock bands of the ’90s. Billy Corgan formed the band in 1988 with guitarist James Iha. In the 1990s alone, the band released classic albums like the four-time platinum Siamese Dream (1993) — which was ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest albums of all time — and the double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), which debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 and produced hit singles like “1979” and “Tonight, Tonight.” The Smashing Pumpkins have toured with acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses. They’ve made guest appearances on The Simpsons, won two GRAMMY Awards and have sold over 30 million albums.

    Billy was amazing!

by 22Bones on 7/9/10Orbit Room - Grand Rapids

Smashing Pumpkins rocked GR last night. His stage presence was certainly felt by the audience and the perfect set list of new and old topped off the night. The crowd loved him and participation grew with each song. Must see show.

The Pumpkins put on a great show at the House of Blues in Cleveland. Never would I have thought that I would get the chance to see them at such a small venue. Billy showed that the Pumpkins can still rock and put on a great show. They played a 2 hour, 20 song set with a great balance of old and new songs. The sound and lights were amazing and hope I get the chance to see them again.

    Wow

by SPZERO on 7/7/10House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

I came into the HOB expecting the atlantic city show. Billy, not into it and a horn band. What I saw, heard, and experienced was buffalo 1996. That was my first ever show and even though that was a big show (arena) compared to house of blues, it was as big, loud and met my old expectations that sp brings. I heard the new stuff music I expected, which I like. But SP rocked the classics and the first encore I heard gossamer I went nuts. There was such a core sp group there that they knew what a treat it was. Billy is serious about those tour and I will see them again. SP out did themselves and they proved that they still have the heavy metal machine with them always. X.y.u

Smashing Pumpkins show at the house of blues was well worth the ticket price. It was amazing 2 hrs of solid Rock & Roll. It was Billy at top form.

    a really hot show

by EricSinCleveland on 7/7/10House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

seriously, it was about 90 degrees in the HoB and there were too many people packed in. Regardless, Billy and the new line up were phenomenal, and seemed to be enjoying playing, as much as the audience did listening.

    Wonderful as usual!

by PumpkinHead123 on 7/7/10House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

Billy Corgan was amazing as usual. I have been going to SP shows since 97 and they never disappoint. The new drummer held his own. Love the idea of smaller venues. There was an awesome crowd -- old fans like me and the next generation of fans in high school and college. You know a band is incredible when after 20 years they can still appeal the 15 year old kids. Especially with the corporate rock era as Billy calls it. I will never attend a show at the House of Blues again. They were horrible to fans. They encouraged us to spend $15 in their store to get into the show early and wait in line in the air conditioning. I spent my $15 and waited in a 120 degree restaurant dock for 2 hours only to get in five minutes after the doors opened.

    Pumpkins Were A Smash !!!

by ArborDoc on 7/7/10House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

Billy Corgan and the current re-incarnation of the Smashing Pumpkins were outstanding, mixing new and old. Billy's latest contingent of musicians are very talented. The crowd as NOT disappointed and Cleveland was thrilled to be the kick-off point for the current tour.

    Spectacular.

by Mayonaise on 8/5/09Gibson Amphitheater - Los Angeles

It was so exciting to enter the Gibson Amphitheater seeing nothing but the spotlight over Jimmy wailing on the drums as an impressive opener. Then Billy and the rest of the band appeared as tons of colorful lights filled the stage. At first, I didn't recognize Billy because he was wearing quite an outfit! He was wearing this big headdress sort of thing and a dress. It was pretty amazing, actually. He later changed into his signature ZERO shirt and a white skirt to play the rest of the show. Anyways, I thought one of the greatest aspects of this show was that I could actually feel the music, literally (I suppose because they put the speakers on the ground). It made songs like Tarantula, G.L.O.W., Siva, and Bullet With Butterfly Wings sound unbelievable. He played songs that were quiet and beautiful, as well (such as Once Upon A Time). Towards the end, they played Heavy Metal Machine with Billy's jamming solo session where he made sounds with his guitar I didn't know were possible. As a very pleasant surprise, he played a Pink Floyd cover! Being a huge fan of both SP and Pink Floyd, hearing that song live just about completed my life. Every song in this set list was played so greatly, I just don't have the time to write a review properly giving each song the credit it deserves. There was a surprising part of the show I forgot to mention that had something to do with a stuffed animal bird, as well. hehe. The new-ish members of the band are great. The band seems to have wonderful chemistry on-stage and they rock just as hard as the old lineup. This is just an overview in which I marked the highlights of the show (which is about impossible, because the whole show was the highlight). Basically, go to see a SP show. Trust me, it will be the best show you will ever go to.
