    Bucket List

by Steve T. on 1/6/20The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

Since getting serious about my own golf game 20 years ago, I have been a loyal PGA Tour fan. I've attended the Torrey Pines event, and the Riviera event. I also got to play both courses, which is a bonus. One tournament that I've always wanted to attend is the Tournament of Champions @ Kapalua. We flew to Maui from Los Angeles, I took my 19 year old daughter, (our first trip alone together) and attended the event on Friday. Purchased Clubhouse Tickets, which gave us access to the course, and a grandstand at the 18 green. The weather was pretty severe - so we didn't walk much of the course with the players. We did hang out at the 18th - but we were pretty disappointed that our seats were limited to a bleacher without a roof, farthest from the green - compared to the Aloha Club - which we were not able to purchase. Between the blazing hot sun, and the sporadic driving rain - it was not worth the $200 that I spent on the tickets.

    Horrible

by kmust1 on 1/6/20The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

This course is not a spectator course. If you have to transport players, wouldn’t you think you might have to have transports for spectators? We went 2 days. On day 2 (Friday) it rained off & on & became VERY slippery especially on the hill holes. We’ve gone to several outings & have never been SO disappointed. Also there was NO where to take cover during rain or get out of sun. Even Pebble beach had transports throughout the course. We will never recommend this course. No wonder the crowds were small. Sad Sad Sad.

Good but needs some more tweeking

by C. N. on 1/6/20The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

Everything was Great, except the kids autograph area, previous years the players would walk by the kids do some signing then do their scoring. This year to have the players drive past them do their scoring then come out or in most cases especially Friday (I know they were wet, but so were the kids who stayed there for 2 hours) not come out and when there was only 10 kids there was Really disheartening. May not be back

    Challenge in Paradise

by R. P. on 1/5/20The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

First, the venue has spectacular views and the course is magnificent. However, due to the changes in elevation, it’s not practical for everyone to see every hole. This is unfortunate because I believe there is a solution. Players are transported via cart to the holes that are tough to walk. The tournament could offer the same service to spectators. Another deficiency is the lack of beverage sales along the course. There are a number of locations on holes 5, 6 and 15 where a temporary watering hole could be set up We truly enjoyed the intimacy of the venue and can see us doing it again.

    Lack of First Aide station

by Mary D on 1/5/20The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

We thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and the ability to be so close to the players. We were however extremely surprised that there was no first aid station and no one knew if there was one. One volunteer kindly went to get assistance and told me not to leave were I was. He came back and said someone would be there shortly. They NEVER came. Fortunately I only needed a bandaid and eventually got one at the clubhouse. I am shocked that a tournament would not require the presence of first aid staff. Climbing those hills alone could cause heart or breathing issues. This was our only criticism of the tournament and we would definitely attend again if the opportunity was presented.

    Great Golf PGA venue

by Rocky on 1/11/19The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

Great place to watch the best pros play golf. Go to Maui and see the Sentry Tournament of Champions. You can see your pros UPCLOSE. Not the crowds that you have to endure on the mainland. Great time!

    needs some tweeking

by AnnM on 1/11/19The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

The tournament was fabulous - great golf and you get to be up close and personal with the players due to the smaller gallery size. The transportation to and from the course needs work. Spectators had to park at the Civic Center in Lahaina and shuttle bus to the base of the tournament grounds. It was then a LONG and strenuous hike up hill to get to the course, gallery seating and amenities. Way too much work!! And then on Sunday when everyone wants to leave at the same time there were not enough buses. In the past we have been able to park on grounds and shuttle up to the clubhouse. I understand that on-grounds parking is no longer available but let the shuttle buses get to the top!!!

    A hole in 1

by ferikov on 1/7/19The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

First timers at a pro golf tournament we were very impressed with the organization, venue and crowd behavior; concessions were good but they did run out of the sub sandwiches so we had to eat sugar & cinnamon flavored popcorn which wasn't the best. We chose to go on Thurs as we knew the crowd sizes would be less and we made the right decision; we were able to get up close to all the golfers and even high five with several of them. Awesome! We will do it again! Thanks,

Kapalua is beautiful... quite the hike following the PGA players through this course. But great golf experience.

    Not a Great Fan Experience

by Milford3 on 1/10/18The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

A stunning venue to be sure. But, Sentry does not allow you to carry a beer around the course? There are holding pens where you can enjoy a beverage but not close to the golf? Been to a lot of tournaments but never seen this policy. Concessions overall need improvement. Also Clubhouse tix are not really necessary. Only gives access to the restaurant before 3 pm. The rest is open to the public all day, including the pro shop.

    Wish I had...

by MauiGolfchick on 1/9/18The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

I wish I had just purchased a GA ticket instead of the “clubhouse”. I spent more and only got access to the restaurant... wasn’t worth it to go up for breakfast and never go back the rest of the day. Plus, they open up the bar in the afternoon for everyone anyways. Still had a blast but next time I’ll know better.

They ran out of pairing sheets on the last and most popular day. No handouts as a souvenir of the tournament unless you bought the merchandise

    What a course

by Colomaui on 1/9/18The Plantation Course At Kapalua - Lahaina

Great event and well put on by many local people. The course is very hilly and quite the walk but the proximity to the players, the incredible views, the transportation to and from, and the entire "show" was top notch!
