    HORRIBLE!

by a. l. on 6/24/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

GOLD VIP TICKETS = Toilets shut down before the end of the night. Long lines for mediocre food. No signage for directions to VIP area. “Executives “(?) with preferential seating over paying customers HORRIBLE! Never again.

    Glad I went

by Aye on 6/20/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

I am so glad after 2 years of watching it virtually, that I was able to attend. It was a little disappointing that the lineup was not solidified. I was looking forward to Yebba! And the acts were 2 hours behind with a lot of sound issues on day 1 but day 2 was a lot better. Thank you all for the experience!

    I’ll pass next time

by Gina on 6/18/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

The performances were great, with the exception of sound issues. The lines were ridiculous, I waited 2 hours for food the first day. They were so far behind schedule on both days. Too much time spent between performances just waiting with nothing or listening to a DJ. Logistically things just weren’t planned well. There were overflowing trashcans everywhere. I’ve been to other festivals and this was the worst experience I’ve had.

    Great Entertainment

by Goldiedigg on 6/17/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

plessed with entry process, entertainment line up, variety of fun foods, atmosphere... not pleased with seating on blankets for over 8 hours without back support...please allow beach chairs..they are low to the ground and can still be placed on small blanket..There is no accomodations for the people who cant sit nor stand for hours end...lack of reasonable accommodations.

    Music 🔥, Ambiance 💃🏽, Delays 🤮

by Tbone on 6/16/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

This was my first ever Roots Picnic and I had an absolute blast. BUTTTTTTTT, something must been done about them delays. I get that things happen, sometimes beyond our control, but 2-3 hours behind in set times is a bit ridiculous. We were waiting over a hour in between acts. The DJs tried to keep the crowds entertained, but it became a bit redundant especially with their preset play lists. Please continue the picnic for many years, because the CULTURE needs this, but not the time lapse.

    Dont call it a comeback

by KH78 on 6/15/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

There should have been an option for 1 or 2 days, blankets aren't sufficient chairs need to be allowed, since no cash was allowed food need to be better quality and more economical felt like a money grab since pandemic shut down operations for 2yrs also only allowing 20oz bottle of unopened water is not logical for a summer day

Not worth the hype or Price Part 2

by Dat Gurl on 6/14/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

I forgot to mention in my first review that the show was three hours behind schedule with no notifications. Which meant people had been out there from about 11am to well after midnight. The regular bathrooms were closed before the event was over. The amout of time between the artists were long enough for someone to correct the sound, test the sound and build a new set of speakers from scratch. Coupled with the fact that the sun was on hell and the lines to get water were an hour long, people were being carted out for heat exhaustion. And no tea, no shade, Mary didnt come to perform. The audience did most of the singing, so I would like yal to cut my check. Please and thank you.

Not worth the hype or the price

by Dat Gurl on 6/14/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

In my opinion the Roots pinic was trash. I'm sick and tired of saying we as brown people need to do better. For the price of the GA tickets people should not have been sitting in the dirt. People should have been able to hear all of the artists they paid to see. People should not have had to stand on lines for hours just to get food. People should not have been subjected to looking at the ground on the jumbo trons. I, personally will never patronize this event again.

    Growing Pains

by Tiff on 6/14/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

First time at roots picnic, Im told that in previous years it was 1 day at a different area in the city. I frequent music festivals. There was no mention of the app to be downloaded, but we were able to find it. I find a app is necessary for any concert more than a day. The map on the app was hard to populate and things werent located exactly as displayed. Day 1 concerts were 2hrs behind and all over the place. The real time function on the app was never updated with actual performances on-going. There was not nearly enough food vendors as lines became hrs long in early evening and by 8 or 9 there was barely food left (a pretzel) Day 2 started out with a shortage of food and alcholic beverages. Sound systems were messed up on some of the acts. Basically logistic problems all the way around. The actual lineups were good if you were able to figure out when they wld actually be on stage and had sound.

    HORRIBLE!!!!

by Event Attendee on 6/14/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

This event was TERRIBLE! The food lines were ridiculously long. I waited over 2 hours for disgusting, cold chicken fingers and fries. The cost of the food was insane, and, in my opinion, it was just price gouging. Paying $20 per item for frozen, processed, pedestrian food was unacceptable. Not to mention, I saw absolutely no black food vendors. Live Nation should not permit Festival Foods to monopolize the food vendor opportunities, leaving absolutely no opportunities for the inclusivity of minority vendors. The event attendees were majority black as well as the performers, yet in still the representation of vendors did not reflect the patrons. Live Nation markets the event to black people, makes money off black people and makes sure that black businesses/communities don't receive any opportunities for profit... SMH!!!! My sister waited in a separate line for drinks and her wait was over two and half hours. There was absolutely no structure to the lines and as you made your way to the front of the line it became more disorderly. Also, security barely checked our belongings upon entering the venue and I noticed a lack of security presence throughout the event. When we left the event, Saturday evening, the path to exit was not lit, it was very dark, and we had safety concerns. As a result of us waiting in the food lines for an unacceptable period of time, we missed many performers that we were interested in seeing. Services were also lacking, trash cans were overflowing and trash was everywhere. This is a problem because for many reasons, but especially because we had to sit on the ground. Also, there wasn't enough signage throughout the venue, I hadn't realized that there were multiple stages throughout the event. The stage was running over an hour behind with performances and I truly wanted to see Mary but it was so late by the time she made it on stage at 11:30 p.m. and we decided to leave, all things considered. Overall, this was just not worth the investment and Live Nation and the Roots need to do better!... very disappointing.

Mostly Great performers. Terrible stage crew

by Maskman on 6/13/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

Most performances were great, technical issues notwithstanding. Both days were plagued by sound system problems. Also the stage crew was unable to quickly get one act off the stage & the next act set up. As the delays piled up, stage managers couldn't maintain the performance schedule. This was all day both days. Mary J Blige was scheduled for 9:00pm Sat but didn't hit the stage until 11:10pm

    The time of life

by Tika on 6/13/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

It was such a vibe, grown people party no issues just people coming together and having a great time. The only con was the 2 hours wait on lines for food.

    Lackluster

by Leslie D on 6/13/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

Underwhelmed. Ridiculously long lines for food and water. No shade anywhere. Late showtimes. No clear marketing & communication of everything happening at the picnic. No merchandise for sale.

They oversold and the quality was bad

by Nat on 6/12/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

I attended both days and Saturday was miserable. The vendors couldn't handle the amount of people and you had to yeah team the wait in lines that were over an hour. The sound on every stage had issues and the set times were so off track you couldn't figure out who was performing and when. The festival so was unhelpful and the food was overpriced and low quality. The food trucks was a nice touch but they couldn't meet the demand either. Sunday was better only because the people didn't come back, there were still unacceptable sound issues and severely delayed set times.

    Who is that on stage?

by Big Mama Naps on 6/12/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

I frequent the roots picnic in this year by far was the least favorite of all the times that I have been. The festival was two days this year which I think was unnecessary. They had headliners, however all of the other artists were people who were up-and-coming and a lot of people have never heard of before. None of the acts were on time the entire schedule is thrown off we did not receive a schedule for days before the show. There was a lot of the time and downtime because there were no performers on the stage majority of the time. This event needs to be One day or have artist that people know and what to see.

Is this the norm for the Roots Picnic?

by EdnaMode on 6/11/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

My husband and I both agree this was a highly anticipated festival for us to attend. What could go wrong in a great foodie city with perfect weather and great music among 60, 000 fans?? Let's start with signage or the lack of, trying to navigate in Fairmont park area was not friendly at all for first-time attendees. The map was worthless. Next, the amount of lateness for concert sets was so disappointing. I understand 15 minutes, 30 minutes, but over an hour discrepancy from the schedule should not be the expectation. In addition, the sound was off many times for the Main Stage performances. The performers we did see, did their job, but we did not see many due to lateness. Food vendor options were good, and the music in between sets was good too! However, the overall event failed to meet our expectations. We ended up leaving early both days from the festival and were very happy exploring the city. We came, we saw, and hope future festivals are better organized.

Traveled with friends first time in Philly. Met a great entrepreneur "Rides With A Twist" Taxi Services. Safe affordable ride. Picnic and concert with great! Enjoyed the Philly Cheese Steak.

Decent vibe, probably wouldn’t go again.

by Quest on 6/10/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

It was a nice gathering. Sound quality was variable. Multiple issues with mic volume with multiple performances. Not enough food/drink vendors for size of crowds.
