The roots are always stellar. A big disappointment was kid cudi no-show.
FANTASTIC TIME! GREAT MUSIC! the atmosphere was incredible.
The Roots and Rahim blow it up it was amazing they remind me what real hip hop sound like.....I am soooooooo glad i was there to experience it.......The Roots keep Hip Hop alive!!!!!! And Major Lazer (Diplo) is the truth
Many scheduled acts never played including the headliner, Kid Cudi. I bought tickets because he was scheduled to play and drove several hours to get too and from the show.
I was actually not super impressed with the venue or structure -- didn't feel much like a picnic, but just a music festival. They had sound problems after the rain storm, and in general, in between acts, when Amanda Diva was MC'ing the interludes, she had trouble communicating with the sound guy to get her music loud enough. The acts were hit or miss. I like Jessi Teitch; I could have done without Major Lazer. However, really, none of that mattered. Rakim took off his coat, cleared his throat, his rhyme was kicking til he hit his last note. He was totally on point and the Roots were tight behind him. He and Black Thought had great interplay. And The Roots' set after that was fantastic as always. (Personally, I'm glad Kid Cudi couldn't make it; I'd take another Roots set over Cudi any day.)
Kid cudi was the feature and the main reason people paid the ticket. A refurb or reimbursement should be given automatically as he (as acknowledged on stage by the roots) had a weak excuse for failing to show. He could have made it in weather was brief and others made it in easily.
What can I say? Rakim and Black Thought ripped it. Even though the rain made for things being a little crazy (affected the PA system), the Roots were on their A game as usual. It was great seeing Rakim do his thing, and even though Kid Cudi didn't show up, I was happy to see Rakim and the Roots do their thing. And, of course, Freeway came through to do his thing which was fun. Overall, a good time. Oh yeah, that DJ, Diplo, did have a memorable set!
Kid Cudi never showed, waited in the torrential downpour for him and still surprised no one got refunded
Fantastic event, well worth the money. My friends and I had a great time.
I was highly dissapointed in this concert. I waited all day for Kid Cudi to perform and he was a no show. The weather was rainy with thumderstorms and so we were all forced in a small tent, it was way overcrowded and uncomfortable. Kid Cudi was a major headliner and everyone was upset he didn't show. I would like a refund.
Stood out in the pouring rain for hours to see Kid Cudi. Exerted a tremendous amount of effort making my way to the front row of the crowd. Accepted the fact that I would be a mess at 5:30 the next morning when I had to wake up for work. Spent money I didn't really have ($50 for the ticket and $14 for a drink there... $14!!!!). All to find out around 10 pm that the headliner wasn't going to be playing. In all fairness, Rakim rocked it and The Roots managed to take some of the edge off with an awesome extended performance.
Rained on us. And the Roots didn't play Day 2 - which was hellah lame. Prices for everything were hella expensive but otherwise okay.
I was really excited to see Kid Cudi but he did not come. We got stormed on heavily. These two things were both out of the control of The Roots but there wasn't much good I could say about that concert. I liked Rakim and Major Lazer but I paid my $50 to see Kid Cudi. I wish the day played out a little better than it did. Kind of pissed that I didn't get a refund though. They know 75% of people came to only see the cudder.
Kid Cudi didn't show up. And I specifically bought a ticket to see him. The artists were great in the meantime. I just wish I wouldve known earlier that Kid Cui wasnt performing becase they let us know at 10pm. I would go again, and instead of getting a one day pass, I would get a two day one. There were some awesome artists, despite the rain and thunder.
My son's 15 year old birthday was last week. Just coming off of 7 month layoff, I worked very hard to save for his ticket to see his favorite artist, Kid Cudi...while my son still had a great time, I am very dissapointed that an artist thinks it's ok to just not "show up" ....not cool at all....
too expensive. no kid cudi. everyone deserves a refund
I believe I should get my money back or at least half for Kid Cudi not arriving. The weather is a lame excuse. He had all day to get here and he didn't show up. I refuse to believe I can't get a refund. Horrible
We went on Sunday, which of course probably wasn't as good as Saturday since the Roots had played on Saturday. We were appalled. It was very lightly attended, and most of the acts were simply DJs rather than live bands. Additionally, there were two stages about 150 yards apart, both competing sound-wise. One was outside, and one was in a tent, but it resulted in the loudest cacophony imaginable. What a total waste of time and money to go to this show.
