About

The Rolling Stones are one of the most influential and longest-lasting bands to cross over during the ’60s British Invasion. The group stands as one of the best-selling acts of all time with 200 million records sold worldwide, and is responsible for two of the highest-grossing tours of all time within the last two decades. Blending blues and rock, the first main lineup of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts broke out in 1965 with their first chart-topping album Out of Our Heads and back-to-back Hot 100 No. 1 singles “(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction” and “Get Off of My Cloud.” The group topped the Hot 100 again with 1966’s “Paint It, Black,” 1967’s “Ruby Tuesday” and 1969’s “Honky Tonk Women.” With the addition of guitarist Mick Taylor, The Rolling Stones released their second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with 1971’s Sticky Fingers, kicking off a streak of eight consecutive chart-topping debuts through 1981’s Tattoo You. Ronnie Wood made his debut as Taylor’s full-time replacement with 1978’s Some Girls, which hosted the group’s Hot 100 No. 1 “Miss You.” The Rolling Stones were the recipients of The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. They collected their first of three career Grammy Awards in 1995. The group broke the record for highest-grossing tour in 1990 and reclaimed the top spot in 1995 and 2007, becoming the only band to headline the highest-grossing tour of the decade twice. The No Filter World Tour from 2017 to 2021 closed as the fifth highest-earning tour ever. Most recently, the band released their first album of original material in 18 years, 2023’s Hackney Diamonds.

10 Stars for the Rolling Stones--1 Star for COTA

by MrsNeu on 11/27/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The concert itself was awesome. I don't believe the Stones are capable of giving a bad concert! Their energy was really something to behold and the set list was great! Getting to and from the event was absolutely ridiculous. So many bottlenecks with vehicle traffic led to much wasted time. Foot traffic was no better. The venue is very poorly set up for big crowds at night; poorly lit, obstacles, uneven walking areas. We walked 1.5 miles to the Silver Lawn and 1.5 miles back to the car. Our area was so full there was barely room to stand. Getting in and out of the parking lots was a joke but not a funny one. We paid $67 in advance to park in Lot F. Nobody was checking to see that we were in the right lot and the guys directing us were accepting cash bribes from anybody that would pay them to park. The concert was over at 11. We didn't get back to our car until midnight and sat in the lot for over an hour before we could even move out of our space. I've been to many concerts and sports events and never, ever had so much trouble getting to or exiting an event. Our theory is that this concert was oversold by thousands and the fact that the venue hasn't reported the attendance number seems to confirm that. I will never attend another event at COTA.

    Amazing show

by rickrocks on 11/27/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

It was so awesome to finally see the Rolling Stones! Thank you for making the ticket process so easy. I also appreciate the advance emails that provided all the details about the event. I know it is not a control point for Ticketmaster, however, sitting in the Bronze lawn was so far from the stage we could hardly see the performers. Also, I was very disappointed with the price of parking. It appears that COTA was trying to make up for the lack of revenue over the past 18 months.

    Stones at COTA

by KeystoAustin on 11/27/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

All staff I encountered from parking attendants to gate workers and those at the concession stands were not only efficient but very personable. That makes for a very pleasant experience. We were in the section furthest from the stage. The extra large monitors were top quality and the filming was well done. Since the event was held at such a large venue, the sound system could have been better suited to the size of the area paying fans were in. Staggering some sound towers further away from the stage would have resolved a lot of the echoing and loss of high and mid tones. It also created an actual time delay. Watching the performers on the screen a full few seconds ahead of the sound reaching us was a bit annoying. That being said, the vocals were incredibly clear, even at that distance. The first half of the show seemed a little disoriented. The sound engineers and performers seemed a bit out of step. The second half was much better. Overall it was a great show with the highlights being Jagger’s energy, Ron Woods strong guitar work, the high quality of the tight rhythm section and incredible vocal power of Sasha Allen. We arrived early and had little problem getting in to park. Leaving was a disaster. Funneling everyone to limited exits was ridiculous. They should have been able to open some of the fencing more strategically. And to take over two hours to get out of the parking lot was insane. Off sight parking with affordable shuttles would have made sense.

by kcj4Tx on 11/26/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Venue has very limited ingress/egress, so if your foing to go tona big show, go way early. Like, the day before. They have onsite camping, from dirt all the way to 50 amp, water and sewer. Take full.advantage of as much as you can afford. Its also a HUGE place. Take a bike, skates, scooter, razor, something. Now, for the show. Beautiful, loud, mesmerizing, perfect. Best songs, best musicians playing them. All on a beautiful Hill Country night. So glad we got to go, since this could very well be the last big tour they do. You should live with the regret of missing it, if you did. Magnificent!

Stones GREAT - Circuit of Americas HORRIBLE!

by Dianne on 11/26/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The Rolling Stones put on a phenomenal show. I'd seen them earlier in the month at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and couldn't resist seeing them again. Despite cold rain, my experience in Dallas (band and venue) was phenomenal. And in Austin, the Stones' performance was 5 star all the way! COTA, on the other hand, is horrible. We took a ride share to the show from 12 miles away and it took almost 2 hrs to get there. Reading other reviews and seeing news reports, I consider us lucky to have gotten there before the Stones started. After the show it took us over 4 (FOUR!) HOURS to secure a ride share patient enough to sit in the traffic into COTA to pick us up and to get us back to our origin 12 miles away. My first concert was in 1979 and I have attended literally HUNDREDS of concerts, festivals in all kinds of bad weather events and the usual irritating, but totally reasonable & expected heavy traffic in/out but have NEVER experienced anything like the fiasco at COTA. I hope all booking agents for all bands take heed of the negative reviews of COTA being posted and do NOT book shows there. If an artist I wish to see is ever scheduled to play there again I will happily buy plane tickets to any other city on the tour schedule to avoid the nightmare that is COTA. l will NEVER go there again. Hope it gets closed down.

    Badass concert

by Cardclan on 11/26/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The Stones were great, the venue is awesome. The Stones played it up, rockin' hard to the least minute. The traffic leaving the venue needs improvement.

    Traffic Jam

by R. F. on 11/26/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Terrible traffic control. Took 3 hours to get to the concert from Austin. Had the same experience at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. After that traffic problem in Dallas, I would have thought that the Concert organizers & staff of the Rollings Stones would have addressed this. The concert itself was great.

    Excellent concert, horrible venue

by Mihnea on 11/26/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The city of Austin and COTA leadership have had 8 years to figure out the traffic in an out of COTA (Circuit of the Americas). And yet, every year, the F1 race and all the big concerts suffer from horrible traffic getting in and getting out. It took us two hours to get in the venue, which is about par for the course these days. The stage is set in the middle of the racetrack, and at least two of the entrances are on the other side of the track to where all the parking lots are. At night, the venue is poorly lit on the outside and the there are previous few signs to direct people to the appropriate entrances. In order to use the entrances on the other side of the track, people have to walk at least 1 mile or longer and there are no directions to get there. The result is everybody uses just one entrance by the stage, and then everybody walks around the track to get to their designated area. The tiered ticket pricing on different sections of the lawn is a bit of a joke, too. I understand that the concert promoters want to squeeze every penny out of the concert goers, but at least make it easy for people to reach their designated seats - Now that Austin has a new big arena, I hope that venue is used primarily for big name bands, even if a second show has to be added. It is too bad that everybody going to this show has to be left with a bitter taste in the mouth by the incompetence of the concert promoters and local organizers. All the Austin newspapers and local stations criticized this situation. Let's see if anybody actually listens.

    Stones at COTA

by David on 11/26/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The Stones were amazing! In anticipation of a huge crowd, my wife and I pre-paid for parking, arrived early and enjoyed the food/drinks/merch and venue well in advance the Ghost Hounds performing. The view from our seats in TSPRMI was fantastic and could see all the way back to downtown Austin. We soon realized the people sitting around us were also avid Rolling Stones fans but they had traveled from 3 different states (Idaho, Oregon and Colorado) to see the Austin show. As Austinites, we felt fortunate to have the Stones in our backyard. If you have never seen the Stones perform before, this show did not disappoint; the songs, sounds and performances were outstanding, playing all our favorites and as expected, Mick, Ronnie and Keith (and Charlie) proved why they are the greatest RR band ever. I found it very fitting that they dedicated the show/tour to Charlie Watts. I know there has been a significant amount of negative feedback and frustration over the traffic, crowds and mess that comes with attending an event at COTA. So for those that arrived late and/or never made it, I'm sorry that you missed a great show.

The services for ADA at COTA in Austin was terrible. I came

by D on 11/25/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

No Wheelchair service. No shuttle after the concert. Sitting in handicapped section waited 1 1/2 hours for shuttle that never came. Grass or dirt to get to seats. Very difficult in a wheelchair.

    Oh God the traffic

by Luga78028 on 11/25/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

This was a wonderful concert. But it took an hour and 40 min to travel from the toll road to the track. Police did little to stop people from cutting in line or flat out disobey the signalers. All this to say, you need to hire more traffic control. I’ve been to many concerts and football games with more people that are managed better by more police presence.

    COTA Needs Some Work

by Ereyna on 11/25/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

First off, The Stones were great. Had never seen them before, but glad I was able to make it out. Circuit of the Americas' traffic situation was pretty terrible, and we had to leave during intermission to make sure we didn't get stuck in the parking lot for more than 2hrs. Was disappointed that I didn't get to see Satisfaction, but it was unfortunately necessary to skip out.

    Too Many People

by JPB on 11/25/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

By now you've probably read the stories about the hours long wait to park and/or leave. I was luckier than most as I went early. The concert itself along with the sound was excellent. My biggest beef was that I paid up (over $300 total) to get good, close-in access to the stage (Gold Circle), but the promoter stuffed about 13,000 people into the standing room only area. By the time the show got well underway, I couldn't even see the stage. Also the bathroom and drink lines were excessive. For God's sake, why can't there be "beer only" lines?

Greatest Rock n Roll band in the world!

by Tooner on 11/25/21Ford Field - Detroit

Truly enjoyed the show! From the moment the Stones first stepped on stage to the end of the encore, Mick and the band gave 110 percent. The sound was excellent (even for a large stadium), as was the lighting, and the "jumbotrons". We had main floor rear GA tickets and stood the whole show, but it was definitely worth it. Did not dare leave to use the restroom or to get another drink for fear of missing any of it!

    Could have been better

by Mich on 11/25/21Super Stage at Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The stones themselves were absolutely incredible! So much fun! However the venue was subpar. The lawn tickets were extremely overpriced for the experience. The food was limited and overpriced gross bar food. We’ve been to a handful of concerts at COTA and this was the first time we were disappointed in COTA itself.

    Stones in Austin

    by S. K. on 11/25/21

I’ve seen the Stones numerous times, but the concert was one of the best ever. Mick was all over the place and is the best frontman in Rock and Roll. The play list was awesome, with the final 5 songs blowing the roof off the place!! I was fortunate to be in the pit and we got there early to get the rail. Traffic in was no issue. Traffic out was completely disorganized, but somehow we got lucky and found a quick escape route. Phenomenal experience!!!
