About

The Rock Orchestra By Candlelight are a band of classical musicians from the United Kingdom who transform rock and metal songs into dark symphonies. The group of 14 musicians regularly performs concerts bathed in an ethereal candlelit glow as they turn songs by AC/DC, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Linkin Park and more into swirling, dark rhapsodies that bridge the chasm between metal, hard rock and classical music. In 2024, The Rock Orchestra will embark on a tour of their native U.K. as well as Europe and the U.S. to present their thrilling new 90-minute show.

  • Disappointed

by Linds on 4/10/24The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami BeachRating: 2 out of 5

I was so looking forward to this and spent a lot of money on tickets. While the singers sung their hearts out, it was not at all what we expected. The show was nothing like the marketing videos we saw for it. It felt more like a high school play than anything. The set design and performances sucked and candlelight is a joke cause there were barely any candles. It couldn’t be more low budget looking compared to their marketing videos. Complete and utter waste of money. I feel bad that I got this as a gift and wasted my finances time brining him to this thinking he would love it. I was embarrassed that that was his big gift I got him.

  • Amazing Music Show

by Giako Magno on 11/21/23Palladium Times Square - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful show. This mix between classical music and hard rock was incredible. It would be nice to see Show By Candlelight also with music from Games of Thrones and Lord of the Rings.

  • It was okay

by Karatro on 11/21/23Palladium Times Square - New York CityRating: 3 out of 5

I appreciated the musicians and their enthusiasm but the crowd had way too many drunk people. Promenade tickets are standing tickets and those who are drunk were all over the place, walking around, pushing, spilling their drinks and obstructing the view. This took away from the show for me.

  • Phenomenal experience!

by Laurita on 11/21/23Palladium Times Square - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

I had no idea what to expect when it came to Candlelight Orchestra. I first learned about them on instagram & it sounded cool, so I bought tickets for me & my rock & roll-loving Dad. The entire experience from the moment we walked in was fantastic. When I purchased tickets, all that was available was GA, I did not even know that there were actual seats. My Dad is older & battling cancer, so I asked if there was ANY way for him to get a chair & a spot to sit. Two lovely ladies quickly accommodated us & found us seating. I was extremely grateful. The stage setup was breathtaking, the performance was absolutely phenomenal. They hit every single note flawlessly & professionally. The energy and stage presence was so contagious. Honestly this was such a special, memorable experience. Thank you to the performers and the venue staff for making this such a special event for me and my Dad!

  • A truly unique, amazing experience!

by Big Jay on 11/20/23Rating: 5 out of 5

My gf and I went to the Palladium in Times Square, saw the show. Words cannot accurately verbalize how much we enjoyed the show! There were vocals when the songs needed it, and strictly instruments when the songs did not. Two System of a Down songs, two Metallica songs, Linkin Park, P-Roach, and a great encore! We were literally sitting on the edge of our seats, smiling and enjoying the uniqueness of the evening! Truly a one of a kind show. It was so creative. I like anything we’ve heard before! We were QUITE impressed!!!

  • Truly Fantastic

by Linda on 11/19/23The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter and I went to the show for my 55th birthday. I wanted to do something different and new. This show was part of making this the best birthday I have ever had . I really hope this energizing , exciting and talented group comes back to Syracuse because I really want to bring my granddaughter whom just started on the small cello. If she ended up doing this I would follow her to every show she ever did . We had a blast. Thanks so much .

  • Disappointed

by Cathy on 11/19/23The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 1 out of 5

Candlelight experience was far from what we expected!! Described was ambiance of floating candles… got large hanging skeleton and candles on skeleton posts!! Then stated 25 minutes late!! We knew musicians we masked and very talented only song we recognized was Stairway to Heaven! Awesome! Singers were more screaming? Thankful there was an intermission so we could leave!

  • Not as advertised

by Aa on 11/18/23The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 2 out of 5

Wayyyyyy to loud for an orchestral performance. Candles nothing like the pre-show description. Started a half hour late. Tickets overly expensive. Two of us enjoyed the show, two of us did not.

  • It was an experience!

by AL on 11/18/23The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 3 out of 5

There's so doubt that the musicians are talented! The musical composition choices were slightly chaotic and questionable. Bits and pieces of the show were quite cheesy.. but it made us laugh! Overall, we didn't have a bad time, it just wasn't a show that wowed us.

  • Exhilarating!

by KW on 11/18/23The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 5 out of 5

The energy of the the concert was electric. The sound , the costumes and the lighting was spectacular!

  • Orchestra was Amazing!

by TMNR on 11/18/23Rating: 4 out of 5

I would have given this 5 stars if it was just the Orchestra. The singers were more of a distraction when they were on stage than anything. They were just ok talent and had a pretty awkward stage presence. They just paced around the stage basically blocking your view of the musicians. We would have rather seen each member of the orchestra get some solo time. The girl on the electric violin was amazing but so was everyone else. (Trombone girl was fantastic and had really great stage presence, cello girl was absolutely slaying it). It would have been cool to showcase each one of them individually. If you MUST have some singing get some people who can play an instrument AND sing and let them belt a few lines here and there. The skulls were kind of cheesy to me - especially the giant swinging one. I’d put them in the same box with the singers and use the budget for even more candles. It’s definitely worth seeing this show at least once…even with the cringy singing. The musicians are amazing and the song choices were awesome!

  • Spectacular!

Visually and musically, the Rock Orchestra should not be missed. The unique selection of instruments creates an incredibly vibrant and beautiful sound. I don't go to many live performances, but I would definitely see them again!

  • Rocking Awesome

by Cynthia on 11/18/23The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the range of rock anthems played for all fans. Everything from Motorhead to Cranberries. And the orchestrations were wonderful for a former band geek. Can't wait to see it again.

  • Dont waste your time and money

Noise, not music. Boring stage setup. Hope the “performers” have day jobs
