    The Rascals were great

by Im2left4u on 4/27/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The show was great. Time could have been a bit kinder to each of them, but their voices and musicianship haven't changed. There should have been more clips and videos on the background screen and less psychedelic early music video format. The backup singers, bass player and keyboard player were excellent. Using actors as the band members in their youth was OK, but the one scene of playfully shooting each other with a gun was tasteless and unnecessary. The real band members sounded whiney complaining that they lost their way because no one took care of them. Still, they made and still make great music. It bought back wonderful memories.

This is a "must see" show for anyone who is a rascals fan. they played like they were doing it for the last 40 years. performed 30 songs and also told about their history. and they could still sing.

I was transported back in time when life was good. I could not stop singing with them and remembering where I was at that time, when each song was sung.

    rascals need tweeking

by treyflowers on 4/26/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Music was great!! loved backround screen. sound was a little off and a little to loud. could have done without the actors reenactment , the wigs and garb look silly not cool. would have liked more interaction with band members . also spent too much time trying to figure out who was who by pics of their youth. youth pics of each member when they were talking,or names at pics. would have been more effective. also more info would have been nice . are they married etc... it was advertised as a play the band members could have done some kind of reenactment to incorperate this theme so it was more than a concert. still it was fun and funny!!

    Rascals - Recommended

by GoodLovin on 4/26/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

If you're a Rascals fan, you have to seen them (if it's not too late). If they have the stomachs for the traveling, the Rascals really should tour a little (without the story videos), at least in the east. They could put together a killer 1-hour act at festivals. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, but have a few critical comments. The overall sound of the band was somewhat shrill. They need to work a little more on getting a deeper sound. They also needed a better bassist, ala Chuck Rainey, which would have given depth. They also needed real horns. The great Rascals records have great Atlantic Records horn players on them. The keyboard player they had playing the horn parts couldn't cut it. In my opinion, This was a glaring omission, particularly on songs like Girl Like You. If the Rascals are reading these reviews, I want to thank them for getting it together and baring feelings of their experience being the Rascals.

    Dreaming of the Rascals

by BundiniB on 4/26/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Each member gives 110% throughout the show. The interviews give background and color to the missing 40 years since they last performed. The music was well-rehersed, performed perfectly; and it is pure joy to see them reunited on stage.

The Rascals: Once Upon A Dream

by leng21 on 4/26/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The more you know the Rascals' catalog of songs, the more you will enjoy this concert. Excellent performance with background/history of group done in an informative and creative manner. So nice to have the original four members of the band performing together again after so many years - around 40 or so.

    The Rascals

by spetes on 4/26/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Thanks Steve V for putting this whole thing together. The show was phenomenal. The Young Rascals at the Garden State Arts center back in 1966 was the first concert I ever went to. I was 16 years old and BLOWN AWAY. Well they repeated that for me on April 24th. DO NOT miss this show if you were a fan. It was worth double what I paid!!!
