    The Rascals--all together again!

by Nicmela on 5/7/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I could never understand why, since they were all alive and well, they could not put whatever career differences or misunderstandings they had wih each other behind them and just get together and play. Being a Rascals fan my whole life, seeng them when I was a young girl at the Westbury Music Fair, and seeing them individually throughout the years, this was a treat for me. They were all in fine form: Felix Cavaliere could still sing the hell out of a song, Gene Cornish could rival any good guitarists around, Eddie Brigati could still hit those notes and dance around the stage like he was 20, and Dino, my fave, can still play those drums like nobody's business. Wow! Seats were great,(although the theater was a bit too tight), and my only other complaint was that at times the music and the acoustics were a bit too loud and distorted. But I guess that can't be helped in a venue like that. Overall, really enjoyed it.

    Finally Getting the Recognition Deserved

by LISTENTOTHENARRATIVE on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I became hooked on The Rascals the first time I heard and saw them on some Saturday morning TV show that they appeared on around 1966. After that, I saw them live several times in the NY area. I have been telling people (those who have asked anyway, including my wife and kids) that I thought that they were arguably the most underrated band in rock n roll history. I didn't realize that Stevie Van Zandt (and perhaps Bruce Springsteen as well) thought along the same lines. I thought the show was great, loved the "interview" format on the big screen, and the opportunity to finally learn the facts behind the group's roots, history, and demise. Watching them perform live, as around 70-year old guys, and as flawlessly as they seemed to do it, only served to confirm my opinion. The only thing I would have changed about the play was that I thought it would have been more effective if the actors who portrayed them as young men were live on the stage too, and not relegated to the screen. And that they should have performed Midnight Hour, my favorite cover of that song... ;-) I heard they're going to be performing at Jones Beach Theater this Summer. All I can say is, see them while you can.

    The Rascals Seems Like Yesterday

by Ahltarocka on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Seeing all 4 original Rascals together was like going back to my youth. I am a musician and my band Peter and The Infinits appeared with the then, Young Rascals at The Batman Concert at Shea Stadium in 1965. Needless to say it was an amazing experience. The Rascals are the consumate purveyors of Blue Eyed soul. This concert really captures that essence. Felix still sounds great. Although I can certainly understand adding another keyboard and 3 great backup singers, I would have liked to see just the 4 guys do a couple of numbers by themselves like the old days. The songs were great and the band sounded really good. The only 2 negative comments I have are: Eddie's Microphone sounded like a Megaphone and took away from his voice. The microphone on Dino's Bass or Tom Tom was way too boomy and it was louder than the band at times and annoying. These are technical issues that should have been resoloved. That being said: I had a great time, the backdrops were outstandind and added to that 60's Fillmore feel and the comments by the band were great.

A Trip Down Memory Lane with a few glitches

by donnafro on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Really enjoyed the music performed by the band and was impressed with their energy. I had forgotten how bluesy/jazzy many of their arrangements were. The production, overall was a bit amateurish and not Broadway caliber but can't fault the music!

The band and history is real

by Bush59 on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I was familiar with the songs but not the band. So it was a not only great seeing the band play but hear the history behind it. The band played with spirit and seemed to be having a great time. there was a genuine love in the audience for the band. If you are a fan, go see this show.

    They didn't miss a trick!

by RCali on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Couldn't believe I was watching the 4 original Rascals! I was so mad when missed them back in the day (1966?) when they played at the Matawan Rollerdrome in Jersey. Glad I got the chance to see them. My favorite American 60's band. I play drums ... so watching Dino was a thrill, Felix's voice was stellar, didn't know how cool a guitar player Gene was/is... and Eddie, bouncing around the stage, maracas and tambourines flying all over the place. The footage and story was great. The music rocked and was cool, fun, soulful—GROOVY! Great, great show. PS... I went to high school with Steve Van Zandt. I am sooooo jealous! Go Stevie!

The Rascals were PAINFUL to listen to

by Anonymous on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

It was a HUGE disappointment. They cannot sing (or dance -- Eddie). It was painful to watch. I was truly embarrassed for them. They should take the lead of the Four Seasons ... hire young talented people to sing your music for you!! How can you charge $150 a ticket and STINK! Steven Van Zandt ... you are totally ALSEEP AT THE WHEEL!!!!!

    The Rascals were Fantastic

by BilledMeUp on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

They looked and sounded great and we got to meet them after the show. They were very friendly and we got our picture taken with the band and they signed a poster. The show was a concert mixed with multimedia showing the evolution of the band between songs. A large digital screen behind the band ran images keyed to each song. All four original members were there plus two extra musicians and three backup singers.

    The Rascals are "Young" Again!!!

by WilbursGrandpa on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

A wonderful treat. Quite possibly the only group from the sixties era with all original members still alive and/or willing to put past differences aside and play their hearts out for the fans who love them!!!

The Rascals, just like they used to be!

by Waldo99 on 5/6/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The "show" was great! It was basically a concert, however they intermixed themselves recounting their story from the early days through their breakup in 1970. It provided a good interlude between songs, which they rocked out like they used to back in the day. The only negative (and it was very minor) was that they used actors to play themselves as young people on film (they did look like them, but it was still lame, although they did have one funny line at the end).
