AND

THE RADIATORS WERE BORN!!!!!

Prior to 1978 Brian Nichol was bass guitar/lead vocals and Fess Parker was lead guitar in "Big Swifty". At the same time Geoff Turner was bass guitarist with RCA signed "Twister". After the two bands performed together a couple of times "Twister" disbanded and "Big Swifty" decided on a change of musical direction.

Times were changing and major advances had been made in the music industry so the two bands and their music styles merged and drummer Chris Tagg was added to the mix . Brendan Callinan brought keyboards to The Radiators in 1979 and the individual members of the Band began their prolific song writing careers. By the time Chris Tagg left the Band in 1984 three albums had been released and The Radiators had been awarded Gold Records for "Scream of the Real" and "Up For Grabs". A little further down the track their Albums "Feel the Heat" and "You Have the Right to Remain Silent" scored double Platinum.

The Radiators was now an incorporated Company. When 1990 rolled around Mick Buckley moved on, had overseas success and keyboardist Brendan departed. Drummer extraordinaire Mark Lucas signed up and it was decided thereafter to forego keyboards. That was the lineup of the mighty Radiators in 1990 and so it remains to this day!

FAST FORWARD 30 YEARS TO 2008 -
Little did anyone realize back in 1978 that The Radiators would still be together, still hugely popular and still producing quality music with no signs of slowing down.

Travelling thousands upon thousands of kilometres up, down and across the length and breadth of this vast country, The Radiators have carved a niche in the annals of Aussie Rock history.

They have headlined and shared the stage with other great Aussie acts such as AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, Dragon and INXS. 2004 saw the release of The Radiators' 25th Anniversary Album, a compilation of their most popular singles. While this Album sold well and had chart success, the boys were keen to try something new.

In 2008 their controversial single "Gimme Head" was re-recorded and remixed by The Cut in Sydney, and picked up by Melbourne Recording Company, Vicious. The single debuted at No. 25 on the ARIA Club Charts, quickly climbing to No. 9 in the first 5 days.

The new "Gimme Head" was snapped up by Australian Fashion Week and featured on their television advertisements shown on Channel 10.

Despite the rigors of touring and the passing of years the spark and energy of The Radiators has not diminished. They continue to do what they do best - tour extensively, play an average of 150 shows per year and delight the legions of fans both young and old who still flock to grab a slice of living Aussie Rock history, rocking the night away to the great catchy songs and classic hits that have made The Radiators a household name in Australia.

Not bad for four boys from humble beginnings with big dreams and one wonders what this powerhouse band is capable of producing next.

    Let's Radiate

by Anonymous on 2/14/11Bluebird Theater - Denver

Another great show as the Radiators wind it down. The 02/12 show was truely phonominal. Great song selection and high energy. These guys will really be missed, but don't think Ed V. can be swayed otherwise.

    Outstanding Performances By All

by comfeline on 2/14/11Bluebird Theater - Denver

If you missed it, those that were there will tell you this show was nothing less than outrageous! Not one still body in the house as I noticed big smiles were abundant on all the faces moving to the tunes. They brought the attitude and we enjoyed Friday night at the Bluebird. They still got it - THANK YOU

    Radiators were horrible!

by Anonymous on 2/14/11Bluebird Theater - Denver

The Radiators have such a good reputation of being an awesome live band so when I saw they were playing I thought "I have to go see them". The show was a total disappointment and they were HORRIBLE! The timing thoughout songs was terrible, the keyboardist was weak at best and his solos were so basic a child could play them. The bass player was almost non-existant and looked as if we was going to fall alseep at any minute. You couldn't hear the lead guitarist's solos at all and when I looked over at the sound man there was no one even standing near the soundboard...Unbelievable!!! The first set was just horrific and the second tolerable at best. The Rythym/Lead guitarist and singer had some tasty leads and vocals but the band as a whole was terrible. The fans seemed to be easilly impressed at any solo without even listensing to the content. Their farewell tour couldn't have come soon enough. What a waste of money.

Radiators Rock you every time in a different way

by Turkeychacha on 7/19/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

I would rate this show a 5 but for going to Mom's Ball in NOLA during Mardi Gras. Now that is the 5 star show. They need to be brought through Houston regularly as there are a lot of Louisiana people that knew them years ago beofe they moved to the Houston area. Opening acts could be improved on.

    Up and Coming Houston Band

by Fridolin on 7/18/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

Although we enjoyed the Radiators and the energy of the Zydeco band, we were extremely impressed with the performance by the opening band, Low Man's Joe. Their songs were tuneful and their performance was dynamic. The audience reaction was fun to watch as many screamed, danced and whistled. This is a band to watch.

by disceaux on 7/18/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

After 1st seeing this group in the 70's for free on wednesday nights at siebenkettel's italian restaurant on elysian fields, i am truly amazed that they still rock & are so amazingly tihg!!!!! Unbelievable show, 2 hours for a $10 ticket! I brought 6 friends who were totally blown away....Why this show was not even mentioned, much less promoted as a must see in the local newspapers is WAY, TOTALLY beyond human, or extraterrestrial, comprehension!
