This was such a fun and interesting night. The knowledge and information she had really opened my eyes to knowing about the history of serial killers. I can’t wait to see her again!
I have 45 years in law enforcement including several as a Supervisor in Homicide. Dr. Toles has such a wealth of knowledge, I wish the event could have been longer. I would love to sit with her one on one. She brought up a local case that I had been peripherally involved in many years ago. The venue was fine, but I felt the parking situation was inadequate. That's just a drawback of scheduling such a venue in a city like St Louis. I learned quite a lot in an hour and a half!
I am not even a serial killer follower or a true crime enthusiast but I was asked to go by my sister and I am glad I did. The expert was engaging and funny and empathetic. She was clearly an expert in her filled and had the credibility. She spoke about original psychiatric theories that were very fascinating. I’d definitely go to something like this again on a different topic.
Dr.Rachel Toles does amazing explaining what makes a killer, and giving real life examples!!
Sadly, we were unable to attend and out $$ due to being unable to find parking ANYWHERE!! No parking ramp and very little public parking available. Will not even attempt to attend this venue again and in the future check out parking accessibility before purchasing tickets.
The venue needed more parking, but the information seemed spot on. I have been a fan of true crime for years and decided to attend when it came up in my feed after listening to a Camping is Canceled podcast which, of course, is true crime focused. My advice is to get there early for any of their events. Kudos to the crew and all the people who pulled this together!
The show sounded great BUT... I was at the Psychology of Serial Killers in Madison Wi and I was beyond disappointed that the seats I purchased did not say they were obstructed. My guest and I got to stare at the back of the lighting/sound guys head. He had the tallest backed chair and never once put down with me even saying I didn't realized I bought tickets with an obstructed view. If you know this is where these guys are going to be seated you might want to block off more than one row and may e hav him sit on a smaller chair as the other guy next to him did. I asked to be moved but was told it was sold out.
Wonderfully done and intelligent work! Q&A was great, especially the humor.
Nothing special that makes me want to recommend it
This was an excelkent show, informative with a streak of humor. A most wonderful speaker. Bravo
First, the Uptown is a beautiful building and given it's supposed "haunted"past, it was a great venue for The Psychology of Serial Killers event in Kansas City. The speaker was engaging and knowledgeable. We left a little scared to go to sleep that evening. It was great for the audience questions to be answered. Not sure how feasible it would be, but is there is another event, possible focus on serial killers from this region. For many of who grew up in Kansas City area, Bob Berdella, is is a name we all remember as a serial killer and his home was not far from the venue. Or consider John E. Robinson or Dennis Rader. It was really interesting hearing about the individuals presented and their backgrounds. I've told all my friends about the event. Great lasting impression! Down side, was that our seats we a few rows behind the control booth and when the iPad was put up to record the session by the control engineer, it blocked our view of the stage and the speaker. We basically could see her feet. Lesson learned on our end - check where the control booth is next time before selecting tickets.
Really enjoyed this informative evening out. Made you stop, think, and realize how life and our childhood forms us into who we are. Dr. Toles was amazing.
Dr. Rachel Toles was very well spoken and knowledgeable. The information was presented clearly. The examples were thorough. I appreciated the Q&A for the second half as well. The presenter/host was funny and kept things moving and light. Great experience! Hope to see Dr. Toles again, in this format, when she finishes her mass shooter research. Well done! The venue (Uptown in KC) was great too, well staffed.
This was such a fun and unique event! I'm so glad my kiddo and I got to experience this. We learned so much and had to pick up our jaws off the floor numerous times.
I thought the speaker was very good and I learned a little bit. The venue, however, I was unimpressed with. The chairs were horribly uncomfortable. Sitting for two hours was a back breaker!
I'm sure the show would have been great but we couldn't even find parking to go in and see the show. Ended up wasting the cost of 3 tickets.
It was really good . If you like this subject you really need to see it.
We thought it was interesting but felt she was trying to humanize the Killers and make us empathize with them and feel sorry for them. Perhaps from her psychological point of view that's how she sees it but we were not willing to be that magnanimous. The moderator was annoying. I would not attend this again.
I WANTED THEM TO SHOW VIDEOS OR GRAPHIC PHOTOS AND NEEDED TO GO INTO DETAILS BUT I WOULD GIVE IT A CHANCE AGAIN IT WAS GOOD IM NOT COMPLAINING JUST WANTED A LITTLE MORE
