About

Based on Mel Brooks' 1968 film of the same name, "The Producers" is about Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom's attempt to stage the worst musical ever and run away with their investors' money. When the curtain goes up on their gigantic singing-and-dancing spectacular, though, they realize their plan has gone ridiculously wrong. Full of hilarious jokes and sharp satire, "The Producers" is pure fun!

I loved it..The cast was excellent. I thought Stacey Todd Holt was outstanding as Leo.Christopher Stone took a minor role and made it memorable. I have seen the show a couple of times in other cities and found this production ranked right up at the top. Once again NCT provided a remarkable enjoyable evening ..

    What Fun!

First time at NC Theatre. Seating was terrific on fairly short notice. Production and Cast were excellent: terrific voices, well acted. Sets were on and off the stage every few minutes without a hitch. Small problem with microphone didn't faze the actors, they just keep going until tech staff fixed it within a minute.

    The Producers was a snore

by BeanieBabe on 2/17/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

The Producers was written in the 1960s. Some of the humor carried over, but a great deal of it is now viewed as slapstick, difficult to understand, or just plain annoying. The leads were ok, but tended to got on my nerves with their shrill voices and nervous actions. Ulla, the female lead's Swedish accent was inconsistent and extremely annoying. Saw the movie and liked it, so am not opposed to this show.

First act a little boring but 2nd act was great. Of course, Springtime for Hitler was fabulous. Typical Mel Brooks. Cast was terrific.

The production suffered from some microphone issues. Max's sound was muffled and sounded at times like an echo. First act was slow starting - actors were not always on top of the cue for jokes. Theater was cold the whole afternoon. I never took my coat off and notices others were also wearing coats. Orchestra was great

    The Producers was lacking

by JOENO on 2/14/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

After hearing so much through the years about The Producers and the rave reviews it had on Broadway in NY City, my wife and I found the entire show to be very basic comedy. The acting was good but the songs and the dance routines did nothing to enhance the play.

Overall the play was entertaining, funny, and well acted. My one complaint would be that it ran too long.
