The Pretenders in Concert
The Pretenders cross the bridge between punk, new wave and pop music like no other band, with genre-defining songs like "I'll Stand By You," "Back On The Chain Gang" and "Don't Get Me Wrong." The band has sold over 25 million albums and founder & leader Chrissie Hynde is one of contemporary music's greatest songwriters. Chrissie's 2015 memoir Reckless: My Life As a Pretender, was hailed by the New York Times upon its release as "honest and distinctive... a love letter to rock and roll." After delivering 2016's unflinchingly head-strong Alone album (produced by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach), the Pretenders continue to tour worldwide.

Houston HOB show in 2/2010 was awesome. It was on the weekend, American Bang opened and did a great job. 2 encores. Crowd was wired, as the band noticed, giving 2 encores. No gaps in the show delivery.
The show was good, but short . I saw them before at the house of blues twice and it was much better, I didn’t like the Chrissie Hynde’s comments about her being comfortable with air conditioning while we their audience were outside during the hot afternoon, not funny.
Overall the Pretenders rocked. They sounded great and Chrissy was in top form. However, the show was only about an hour and 15 minutes long. There were so many opening acts which cut into the Pretender's stage time. In my opinion The Greek Theater is the best venue in the LA area for a show. However, it has an 11:00p curfew. If the Pretenders eliminated one of their opening acts, it would have allowed them to play longer (which they wanted to do). To summarize, Pretenders were great, venue was great, too many opening acts led to a poor experience.
