To celebrate two decades of 'Give Up' and 'Transatlanticism', The Postal Service & Death Cab for Cutie have joined forces for an unprecedented 20th anniversary co-headline tour. Each night, Benjamin Gibbard, the co-founder of both bands, will pull double duty performing with The Postal Service - comprised of Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis - as well as with Death Cab for Cutie (alongside Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr). The extraordinary live run will see both iconic groups performing their seminal 2003 albums in full.
An incredible show. Fun, full of memories and nostalgia with an amazing and talented band on stage.
This was an amazing show!! Very nostalgic. The atmosphere and energy were phenomenal.
The weather was beautiful and we had great seats on the lawn. We really enjoyed both Death Cab and the Postal Service. Overall, great night. This was my first time at this venue but I really enjoyed it. Parking wasn’t too far and the lawn is fairly close to the stage.
Our concert experience was aided by awesome weather, it was a perfect April evening. Support band was good but mega performances from Death Cab and The Postal Service. The overwhelming feeling was what a great venue, staffed by people that were a delight to deal with and seemed happy to be there.
Took about an hour and a half to park. We drove in from 2 hours away and got there about an hour early. Instructions were unclear in where parking was so we decided to just bite the bullet and try the paid parking lot (which is crazy given the cost of the tickets, but whatever.) As we were about to pull in after waiting about an hour, we were told the lot was full and that we would have to go to a different lot a couple miles away. That took another half an hour. Yippee. If you're going to sell that many tickets to a concert, make sure there's enough space for that many people to park. Super cool that we missed the opening band. Thanks alot. The bands were great. This is all the fault of the venue.
Long time fan of both, the visuals for this show were so rad and the Greek always delivers on sound. I think the DC set could have been a little better (quite a few obscure tracks) but the good ones were there. I would def see this combo again but man the price hurt. I guess we are in our "take advantage of this generations disposable wealth"era.
Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service... moreso Postal Service, of course, are a classic already that holds up in so many more ways that you would expect. But even Transatlanticism is aging very well and is almost as good. Hearing them both performed live is perfect!
Seeing both bands was a dream unfortunately my partner wasn’t the biggest fan but I don’t care because I enjoyed every second of it! Loved their cover of Enjoy the silence!
Loved the music but my beefs with the seating. The hard wooden seats are so compact that you a broad shouldered individual such as myself cannot sit comfortably. The setting is cool and it feels like you’re immersed in the woods… but again, doesn’t mean much when my attention is continually being drawn to how I feel like a sardine in a can. For the price of the tickets, i would expect nicer seats akin to even a baseball stadium. I don’t really have an interest in coming back due to the seats. Show was great though.
The show was great! I just hate the Hollywood Bowl!
The energy that the postal service brings is really amazing. Within one album there are so many different types of songs which is really incredible. I would immediately buy another set of tickets!
First time seeing Postal Service in concert and I thought I had missed this opportunity when the group disbanded - then they announced this concert. What's better than a Death Cab for Cutie concert? A double dose of Ben when they teamed up with Postal Service for this Anniversary Tour. Delighted I could be part of the energy at the Hollywood Bowl as the tour wrapped!
I can’t believe it happened and I’m still in shock on how it good it was
We came for Iron and Wine and were happy to see postal service, but we were blown away by how beautiful their performance was . it was a really special night.
This was a combined Postal Service/Death Cab for Cutie concert. The total time for music, minus break, was less than 1 hr 45 minutes. It's just as well, because I was bored to tears. Death Cab did not play their biggest hits, which was the primary reason I attended. More important is that the dynamic range of emotions within and across songs and across the two bands was zero (not entirely surprising, since the lead singer is the same across the bands). The lyrics were massively repetitive and as uninspired as the emotional tone of the music. The only redeeming aspect of the concert was the light show, which was reasonably creative given then little emotional range to work with from the music.
Best show I’ve seen all year. I love DCFC and the Postal Service but to see them together was good as it gets. Both bands sounded great and the Hollywood Bowl is always a pleasure.
Quick getting in. Drinks were fast heading in. PIT tix had service in the area so drinks were quick and convenient there too! Was super happy. Got merch right before headliner went on and walked right up. Didn’t miss any of the show! ✌🏻
The show was amazing. I feel lucky to have experienced it. The venue was fabulous.
The Postal Service's set boasted a high-energy performance accompanied by a terrific light show. The sound was great - recreating the vibe of the Give Up album perfectly.
We had so much fun celebrating 20 years since this album was released. They put on a great show! Having it combined with Death Cab for Cutie performing their Transatlanticism album was the icing on top! We loved the venue (Hollywood bowl). The park and ride was very helpful from Torrance to avoid having to drive in traffic. Would definitely return!
