About

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS IN CONCERT:

The Oak Ridge Boys' timeless country and gospel classics may date back to the World War II era, but the band is still a force to be reckoned with in the 21st century. Their showmanship is unstoppable -- whether they're playing oldies like "Elvira" or the smash-hit "Leaving Louisiana In the Broad Daylight," they always keep the energy high at their live shows with perfect harmonies and tight fingerpicking. It's been over 50 years since the Oak Ridge Boys first performed together, and their voices are still sharp as ever as they treat fans to their gospel-infused country tunes on the 2014 Boys Night Out tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Oak Ridge Boys' founding member Wally Fowler started the band in 1949, recruiting an existing group called the Calvary Quartet to perform with him as the Oak Ridge Quartet. As a nod to their country gospel roots, the quartet changed their name to the Oak Ridge Boys, and their career took off from there. The group has had several personnel changes over the course of their tenure, but that hasn't stopped them from producing hit after hit during their decade-spanning career. The Oak Ridge Boys have released 31 studio albums -- a number of which have reached gold certification or higher -- and over 30 Top 10 singles, an enormous feat for the world-renowned country quartet. With numerous Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM Awards under their belt, the Oak Ridge Boys are truly a one-of-a-kind act. After over 60 years of touring together, the group is set to delight fans once again with a string of highly anticipated shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"They played to sold out theater and what a great show they put on. They get better with every show, looking forward to seeing them again!"

"The Oak Ridge Boys are still so good and brought back so many memories. Absolutely loved them!!!"

"Cannot believe what incredible voices they have. They really give you your money's worth. I've seen the Oak Ridge Boys so many times and can't believe what a show they put on!"

    Sounded like old times

by awesomegranny on 8/27/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

The Oak Ridge Boys were awesome and they sounded just as good as they did 30 years ago when I first heard them. It was great that they were able to get their whole concert in before the storm moved in. Lots of energy on the stage. Loved their new songs that they will be releasing and it brought back a lot of great memories to hear the older songs.

The Boys Ae Back...and They Still Got It!

by HAZMATCAP on 8/24/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

Oak Ridge Boys w/ Larry Gatlin as an opener @ the 2009 Indiana State Fair! The opening act, Larry Gatlin, was very strong and enjoyable. Larry still puts on a great show! He was abbreviated by inclimate weather and graciously allowed the Oaks to take the stage early. The Oaks...where to begin. Dynamic entrance! High energy! Played a great mix of their new and classics. Mighty Oaks Band was awesome! Kept the chit chat to a minimum since bad weather was moving in...they wanted to get as much music in as possible. They played until the last possible moment before the weather took over. These gentlemen are FANTASTIC! Highly recommend this show!

    Oak Ridge Boys were great!

by TenorLady1 on 8/21/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

This was the 2nd time we had seen the Oak Ridge Boys perform. They give off such an energetic performance you can't help but enjoy them. It's great that they perform all of the songs they know will make the audience react to their singing. Their band is such accomplished musicians, also. It helps when one of their musicians comes from your own state, too. I do hope they return.

    all great songs

by woodmaker on 8/21/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

Would a been better if all would of had their sunglasses off, some did and 2 did not. Late 1 more did and 1 never did. Would like to have seen all their faces. Would have been a better show if it hadn't rained, and show cut a little short. Was a good value for the price of the ticket, and for sure a do again show.

Even though the weather was rainey, the Oak Ridge Boys came out and gave it their all during the time that they had. They are amazing singers..it's hard to pick a favorite because they are each unique. They were energetic on stage and it was worth the money!!! I've got the new CD...Go Buy it!

    The Oaks Were Solid Gold

by JimsLinda on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

Even though the evening was cut a tad short by the weather, they were at their absolute best. My feet may have been in the track mud, but my heart was on stage with "the boys". Thanks so very much for a fantastic evening.

The show itself was fantastic, the only bad thing was the rain which they can't control.

Larry Gatlin and Oak Ridge Boys Rock!

by boyzrbackfan on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

Larry Gatlin and his daughters were a great opening act for the Oak Ridge Boys. Larry Gatlin sounded great and his daughters did an excellent job of standing in for their uncles. It was wonderful that they all decided to get started a little early in order to get in as much of the concert prior to the projected thunderstorms. The Oak Ridge Boys were awesome! We saw them a few months ago in Fort Wayne IN in an indoor venue, and the sound was much better last night. They did many of their great hits, as well as 2 or 3 songs from their new album. The weather pre-empted them, so they only made it through part of Bobbi Sue and didn't get to Fancy Free or some of their other hits they would normally sing.. It was a shame the weather cut both acts short because they were well worth the money! Great concert!

The Boys need to go back to gospel!

by 2Hoosiers on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

I had read somewhere that the Oak Ridge Boys had returned to their "roots" of gospel music. Due to bad weather and outdoor theatre, the show was rushed and not much audience interaction. We much preferred Larry Gatlin, who only played about 35 minutes...we would rather have had him perform the entire show. He had more audience participation, more personality, and his voice is still great! He should have had his own show.

    Oak Ridge Boys

by DisappointedIndy on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

I can understand rain was coming, but they should have rescheduled the event for another venue at another time. Larry Gatlin rushed thru his set, seemed to play longer than the Boys did. Then the Boys come out and we maybe get half a shows worth. I am very disappointed.

Oak Ridge Boys & Larry Gatlin Brought It!

by indycatlover on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

The grandstand was rockin' with the great sounds of the Oak Ridge Boys and Larry Gatlin! Sure, they're older (aren't we all!) but they can still belt out the songs! Larry Gatlin sang our old favorites, like Broken Lady and All the Gold in California! His two female back-up singers were awesome, too (one was his daughter)! The Oak Ridge Boys brought a blend of familiar hits and some new ones that are on their new CD entitled "The Boys are Back". Well, I think the boys never left! It was pure pleasure to see and hear them perform at the Indiana State Fair!

Oak Ridge Boys and Larry Gatlin

by soapster on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

Larry Gatlin and the Oak Ridge Boys all did their best to give the audience their best music in the shortest amount of time due to the oncoming weather. They packed 3 hrs of music into 2 hrs and 15 minutes.

    Oaks were great!

by Oakslover on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

The Oak Ridge Boys with Larry Gatlin was a tremendous show. Gatlin always has had a great voice and good songs. The Oaks are just tremendous showmen proven over many decades. My favorite country group.

    Unforgettable

by Indygirl1272 on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

It was an awesome show even though it was cut short due to bad weather. I've listened to the Oak Ridge Boys ever since I was a little girl and they just keep getting better. We were shocked to hear them sing a White Stripes song called 7 Army Nation. I have to say that the Oak Ridge Boys version of that song was way better than the original by the White Stripes.

    Oak Ridge Boys

by ConcertPerson on 8/20/09Hoosier Lottery Grandstand - Indianapolis

The outdoor concert was cut a little short due to weather, but they still did a nice job getting in many songs and many of the favorites. Richard Sterban's voice is one of a kind, so much fun to listen to. All of them were great.
